Our first impression of the condo was how opulent the furnishings and decor was. The rooms are all decorated with beautiful furnishings and touches that give the condo a home-like feel. The views from the deck are phenomenal. We were ecstatic to be in such a wonderful location. HOWEVER, after our first few hours in the unit we had trouble with the air conditioning settings. We had read in prior reviews that others had the same problems and that they were solved. We thought that we could be comfortable at 73 degrees. Unfortunately, at night the temperature in the unit soars to between 76-78. The unit is controlled by a Nest thermostat, which the condo owner controls the temperature settings remotely. It cannot be adjusted to cooler temperatures in the unit, we found that at night the thermostat was locked and could not be adjusted at all. It was sitting at 76 degrees at 2 in the morning. After an unbearably hot night we were utilizing three fans in each room to try and cool down the bedrooms. This was not the way we wanted to start our vacation. We tried keeping the blinds closed to help keep the unit cooler and try to maintain at least 73 degrees and called the concierge on day three of temperatures ranging from 73-77, who sent out technicians to check A/C in the unit. They also agreed that it is not the units A/C it is the programming set by the owner of the condo.
While we enjoyed our stay in Cozumel, the view was all but lost because we ended up closing the blinds to assist with the radiant heat in the afternoon & evenings.
Additionally, there are small sugar ants in the kitchen and dining room. Nothing we could not handle and insect spray was available - but for the price of the rental - it should be sprayed by a professional.
It really is a disservice to the rental. It would have been a slam dunk from the looks of the condo but with the A/C issues - we will come to Cozumel again but will not be back at Palimar 8A condo.
