I have NEVER had a terrible experience with Holiday Inns. Not until today anyway. NOTHING about this experience was what I would even call fair. I understand I came in late (just past midnight) but COME ON! Starting with the “gentleman” at the front desk had me write my email and zip code on a piece of paper that had several other guest’s emails and zip codes that plastered all over it (um…ever heard of a thing called privacy?!). Then after walking to Timbuktu to place a parking pass in my vehicle, I boarded an elevator that made me seriously question if a cable would snap at any minute. Then I get to “my” room and am greeted by the same person who checked me in, informing me that they double booked my room. He then proceeded to open the door to show me! Didn’t knock. Just let himself in. What if someone wasn’t dressed?! THEN he takes me down to another room, through an hallway LITTERED with trash (I mean all up and down the middle of the hallway…not just by the doors) and assures me it’s fine and that he will call to get me a discount for the trouble. Ok. Fine. Not 10 minutes later as I am getting into bed (because ya know…it’s late), he comes back. Why you ask? BECAUSE THERE ARE 2 MEN STANDING OUTSIDE AND I AM IN THEIR ROOM! Mind you it is now almost 1am and I am being ushered to my third room. I get in it, ac does work, curtain doesn’t close, and I’m right above the neon lights of the signage. I would seriously URGE you to NEVER stay here. Ever. Go 10 minutes up the road.

The desk clerk down graded our room. He said they were over booked. Also since we booked the room from a third party not through the hotel’s website or itself. What does it matter who book through. They still got our business. We were not happy. We will never stay there again.

Breakfast was fine. We didn’t use the work spaces. However, the caulking in the bathroom shower was moldy and chunks of it were missing. It didn’t look clean at all. We also found several bugs crawling in the bathroom floor. The bed was awful. It was sunken in both sides and hard as a board. Extremely uncomfortable. We were very disappointed as we have stayed in Holiday Inns before and had good experiences. However the staff was very polite and friendly.

The room #114 smell like urine and mattress was very low and sink to the ground. There are spots on the sheet. Bathroom is handicapped accessible but dirty and cracks on floor. We asked to switch room and front desk Nathalie refused to switch us to a different room unless we pay 30% more. We didn’t have choice but agreed. Then she said we can’t cancel the other room because it’s booked through Expedia. We got on the call with Expedia customer service and they called the front desk for us trying to cancel the room. But Nathalie refused and she told us it has to wait for manager approval in the morning. We were not happy with the way the hotel handle the situation and decided to switch to another hotel Hayatt which is far more clean and comfortable and cheaper. Until now we still haven’t been able to get our money back. The hotel charged us two rooms and two nights. We went back to the hotel trying to talk to the manager and he refused to review the issue. I just couldn’t believe a hotel with this kind of quality and service could charge over $300 a night and the location with surrounding doesn’t seem safe. Meanwhile the Hyatt in a much nicer and convenient location (North High st) only charge $255. We are glad we finally able to cut the losses and move to Hyatt. We want to post this to let everyone know you can get a much better hotel for the money Holiday Inn Express charge you.

Really substandard holiday inn

The front desk employee refused to check for a military discount even though there is one. I walked in and the front desk was covered in a bunch creepy Halloween decor, which was not welcoming at all (which I can look past, just seemed like a lot). The elevator had trash on the floor. As soon as we got to our floor the entire floor smelled like fresh cigarette smoke. In our room the bathroom didn’t have a working light so they had stuck a desk lamp in the bathroom. Overall just a really substandard holiday Inn experience and I will not be staying here in the future.

The good thing is the Holiday Inn Express is near Ohio State stadium and the interstate. Bad things were that the in the 4th floor we stay is still has human hair around the toilet and bathtub. The bathtub was not fully cleaned and had pink stains in corners of it and the caulking around the bathtub inside and out was nasty brown and black. The outside of the hotel parking lot had not good lights for security and safety reasons. Our truck bed has a secured leather protecting the bed was cut open by knife that someone must try to look inside the bed of our truck.

We arrived at the hotel late at night, and there were people hanging around in the parking lot. When we checked in we were informed that we needed to pay an extra $9 fee to park in the lot, and the form I had to sign indicated the hotel is not responsible for anything that happens to my car in their lot. The area around the property did not seem like a good area. The hotel appearance was OK in regards to cleanliness and upkeep, but small things were not kept up.

This was so bad I don’t even know where to start. Hotel was in a bad area. Parking was ridiculous. Very little parking. Outside of the hotel was unkept and a mess. Inside the hotel, the climate control was not working properly felt humid and musty. The room was not quiet. We didn’t get any sleep. Hotel is in need of updating. This was in a scary part of town did not feel safe with my kids. Wondered if I would wake up and have damage to my vehicle done overnight or car parts removed. Front desk staff sat outside and smoked constantly. They were outside more than they were inside. Every time we came in or out of the hotel, they were not at the desk. They were out front smoking.

The hotel was in a terrible area. It felt very unsafe. The entire floor smelled. In the middle of the night, 1am, there were people screaming and physically fighting. The front desk did not pick up when I called and I had to call the 800 number for them to contact someone to remove the people fighting in the hallway. The room was okay. There were stains on the walls and carpet. When I talked to the morning manager at checkout, she apologized and said she was glad she didn’t work the night shift. If I could give zero stars, I would likely do so. I am very disappointed with the stay.
