The hotel lies about the time they will get you check in information, lies about parking, and then has NO HUMANS to speak with at all! They send a text and it’s clearly from a foreign country and even when there is an actual emergency or issue they refuse to call or let you speak to an actual human. They also lie about there being stairs that are impossible to climb and the age of the property. Overall a total fraud!

Our stay at Charlesgate Suites was lovely. The whole building was extremely clean and our room had all the basic necessities. The little espresso machine and pods were a nice surprise. It's about a 4 min walk to the green line station entrance, maybe 10 min to Fenway and 15 min to Newbury St. The street itself is beautiful, very "Boston" with all the multistory brownstones. I do wish there was a closer convenience store where you could get bottled waters and things. This is no fault of the Charlesgate of course. if you are staying there I would try to plan ahead so you are not walking 10 minutes from the 7Eleven carrying a case of water. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful location

Great location, clean room and building, comfortable. Be aware that there is no elevator, but if that's not a concern, this is a great place to stay

The property is in very good condition. The room is spacious and comfortable. There is a laundry facility next to my room. The kids of the family above me made a lot of noise as I hear the running and stumping clearly from below.

If you are ok not sleeping!! Basement room, by the back screeching door. People came in and out at all hours of night and will not allow you to sleep. That room’s basement location wasn’t communicated. Also, door code didn’t work during check-in, room was set for 2 even though reservation was for three. Parking wasn’t available either, even though we requested in advance. Terrible experience!

I booked their Design Studio Suite. This suite was supposed to have cooking facility including hotplates/stove, dish washer and full size refrigerator with freezer. And area was supposed to be 505 sq feet. We booked specifically such a suite as we are fully vegetarian and planned to cook our own. They put us in a much smaller studio, which had a tiny refrigerator, no freezer, no stove/hotplate, no dining table, no dishwasher. That ruined our whole vacation. Tried to communicate to them this and they totally ignored.
As you can see from photos, tiny refrigerator, no stove/hotplate, no dishwasher, no dining table.

I traveled to Boston for my youngest sons’s college graduation. I was aware that I was staying on the fourth floor without access to an elevator prior to my visit. That was the only issue I experienced because of my own need for more daily exercise. After I made it to the top floor and opened my door, I was welcomed into the most inviting space I have ever been in during a hotel stay. The layout is perfect. The bathroom is the first door on the right with a separate shower and tub. The kitchen is to the left with a complete set up - refrigerator, range, dishwasher, stocked cabinets, breakfast table and chairs. A small desk with a lamp is directly across from the entrance. And a sofa that pulls out to a bed sits before a television and coffee table. The bed was tucked away on the other side of a wall out of view from the front door, but you could be in bed and watch television with ease as the bed was directly behind the sofa. The use of SPACE and placement of furniture made this suite the most comfortable I’ve ever been in. Any needs I had were communicated through text messages, and a response was consistently received within minutes. I was within walking distance (15 minutes) of Boston University and did not have to call an Uber even once during my stay. I walked to a restaurant for dinner and to the store to pick up a few personal items. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be checking for vacancies with Charlesgate Suites any time I am visiting Boston.

The building and our apartment are really beautiful. A lot of care wanted into the design and the selection of furniture and decor. We opted to pay for parking which made everything even more convenient. We are from the country so not used to city noise which were a little intense at times, but manageable. The only suggestion (strong suggestion) I would make to management would be to have clear instructions about the heat and ac. Specifically, how to light the fireplace within the apartment. There was no way for us to know that the fireplace was the only source of heat, and there were no instructions on how to light it. The first night we spent in the apartment was very cold. 60 degrees. We called management in the morning and it took a lot of back and forth for them to get us the information needed to successfully light the fireplace, and clarity that the thermostat was for ac only. All of this could have been avoided if there was clear instructions with in the apartment. Seems like a simple fix for the comfort of future guests. Other than that, the apartment was very enjoyable.

Excellent location near Boston University, bars, restaurants, etc and just a few minute walk to Fenway. We had the downstairs suite which was extremely roomy and had a full kitchen. While there was no front desk, the reservation team was responsive, polite and helpful.

Great place and location, a few hassles

We had problems with registering online and uploading photo ID in advance, and when we arrived the automated door lock wasn't working, so we had to reach out via hotels.com to get the back door code. It was a hassle -- but thankfully they responded promptly (it was during day time, I wouldn't have wanted to deal with this at night) -- but once we got into the unit, it was excellent. Spacious, very comfortable beds and furniture, great shower, clean, convenient to BU and transit. The kitchen was minimally stocked and could have included a few things for cooking (salt/paper, maybe oil/viengar) in addition to the coffee/sugar supplies provided. We really enjoyed out visit and will stay again, with the caveat of knowing to expect a few hassles, given its great location and comfortable amenities.
