Traveling through to SLC from CA, we wanted nice lodging that accommodated our small Aussie shepherd. Candlewood seemed pricey, but stood out as an IHG property, so we expected customer-focused quality. Somehow, I overlooked the complete lack of breakfast of any kind. No other lodging listed on Hotel.com failed to include a breakfast of any kind. The room evidenced a strong lack of maintenance: a heavily damaged chair, a wobbly toilet with all caulking removed at the base, calcium stains on the tile by the tub, a hanging hook at the corner of a wall in the main walking path that grabbed my shoulder painfully, and a few other minor issues.

The room was clean and spacious. I had stayed in Winnemucca at a cheaper hotel just the week before and I decided to spend a little more to have a better experience. I was a bit disappointed in the amenities considering the price I paid. I did assume there would be some sort of breakfast based on the price and was disappointed to find out there was not. However, they did have a nice coffeemaker in the front office and the coffee was better than average. I only wish I had seen it the night before and not when I was trying to find breakfast the next morning.
