We stayed here 2 nights. Hotel is a bit away from CBD but still in a walking distance. Near hotel has a 7 days food court, it's quite convenience Room is small but comfortable and clean. Breakfast is a little bit poor, not many choice and close at 10am but actually we could not have our breakfast at 9:30am on 2nd days!! Reception is friendly and helpful.
The hotel was fully booked. My room had a strong odour. The front desk Staff did the best they could . The hotel is very old so be prepared the photos didnt really show the true overall quality. Also the neighbourhood around has a more sketchy feel.
The rooms here were bizarre. SO small - I hadn't stayed in a single bed since backpacking (most backpackers are cheaper and nicer than this place). No wardrobe so hopeless if you're travelling for business and don't want your work shirts crushed. Bathroom was terrible. Sink is in a narrow corridor off the bedroom. By narrow, I mean I couldn't lift my arms to tie up my hair in front of the mirror. No place to hang a hand towel, so after washing your hands you need to walk with dripping hands into the bathroom proper. Sink could have fitted in the bathroom if it weren't for the shower-over-bath. Who would take a bath in a grimy feeling hotel? It just didn't need to be there. The shower curtain looked older than me. The toilet was irritating because the flush was behind the lid, so you had to drop the lid to flush every time. Who designs these things? Someone who doesn't use a toilet? The location wasn't great - Wellington is small anyway so you could walk to the centre of the city, but it was definitely on the outskirts. I had a lot of heavy samples to take to meetings so wasn't that convenient for me. Also while I was there some guys were hanging out on a nearby corner and hassling people walking past. On my last day the police came and cleared them away. Overall, the hotel needs a renovation desperately - and demolition and a rebuild would be better.
Service on check in was great. I booked a triple room, which was basic but generous size, clean and quiet. Have stayed here previously and both times I have been impressed. Good location too, just a quick walk to Cuba street and 10mins to Courtenay place.
Gets 3 stars for cheap rates but is two star for cleanliness and comfort. Recommended for the budget traveller only. Very basic facilities ( No wardrobe for example) means it’s hard to recommend to anyone other than the very budget conscious or the one might stay look for somewhere in that specific part of Wellington.
This hotel was easy to find - great location at the top of Willis just by Aro Valley - so easy to walk into town - straight down Willis Street. There is a Four Square across the road - to get your supplies. Down the road is the Capital food court - open 7 days a week until about 10pm - great place to get cheap[ tasty food. Rooms are good at the hotel - and they have sky channels. Room service great. Helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast offered in downstairs restaurant.
Hotel Willis is a reasonably central location to the city and water front, with a 15/ 20 minute walk. The room was fine with enough space and the bed was comfortable enough though a little noisy being near the road. I was a little confused when decided to have breakfast, upon entry dam certain a read the menu saying $14.95 for a contenental breakfast - I ended up paying $17 or $18 Not a big drama but it would have been nice to know before leaving the breakfast room and not while I was checking out and being surprised.
We came in from the north on our way to the ferry ⛴. The hitel is well situated in good distance to downtown shops or to the precinct of Cuba 🇨🇺 street were many eateries and restorants are. The lady at the reception (Anna) was very friendly with her natural bosnian kindness, hvala! Parking a little bit difficult, rare space at the hotel 15 NZ $ overnight. Rooms clean, slightly strange odor from bathroom gully? Brekkie alright, waitress very friendly!
Hotel was centrally located being only a short 5 minute walk into town. I believe there is off street parking on site but I didn't use it. Reception area was tidy but I was a little disappointed with the rooms. I was in room 218 on the second floor and it was pretty small with a very musty smell. Hotel is situated on a busy street so try and request a room on as high a floor as possible so that it is quiet. The windows are double glazed but I still found the traffic noise quite loud. I paid a reasonable rate for my room so I cant really complain too much about the size and amenities but if I had paid more I would have been a little disappointed. Wifi worked well and was free.
Paid top price for a very bottom grade property. Dirty. Painted over wallpaper peeling off walls $15 per day to park on rough surface in the open. With all this they had the hide to charge $50 against possible damage!
