This hotel is very nice and rooms are very clean and spacious. You feel like home when you stay in this hotel. Also, location of the hotel is close to all major attractions in CBD. Free unlimited Wi-Fi available on each floor. The hotel is value for money and I am looking forward to stay again in this hotel next time.
Good central location, older style building with huge rooms. The bathroom (which had a bath and separate shower) alone would be the size of an average modern hotel room. Very spacious. Friendly, helpful staff.
I had a really comfortable room, everything of a good standard & totally free good wifi. Its so close to shopping and waterfront but a quiet street. The unique thing is the traditional decor and architecture. You just don't see or experience this in a modern hotel. This place is a classic and the awesome old lift is from a begone era. Worth staying here just to experience this.
A wonderful old work hotel - wonderful lift experience - just needed a lift attendant as you would find at David Jones I stayed in 407 - 4 th floor - the Top Floor, quiet as it faces the internal light shaft. Well appointed room but missed a desk! A good size bathroom with a bath but does need the bleach treatment to control mould growing in places Ease of access to Lambton Quay
Always have a great night staying at the Wellesley. Each room is a little unique and has an old world feel without loosing modern conveniences. Great location near Lambton Quay and the Beehive. I've not had breakfast hear, but I've heard great things about the food from colleagues.
The Wellesley is a great place to stay if you appreciate some old world charm. My room was a little on the dark side, so if you prefer light and bright, you may have to inquire on that point. I liked this aspect of it as I was looking for a sense of enclosure and seclusion, so the lighting wasn't an issue. Staff were lovely, very helpful, providing umbrellas and advice on getting around in Wellington. I'd definitely stay again.
Stayed here second time. Very nice historic place in the heart of Wellington. Stuff I'd helpful and friendly, rooms are spotless clean. Walking distance from shops, cafes and restaurants. Will definitely come back there.
Loved this little hotel, can't beat the location. The food a bit ho hum, but fine if you don't feel like going out. Heaps of wonderful places to eat nearby. My room had the biggest bath and I had just finished hiking so really appreciated it. The bed was the most comfortable I have had for years. I'm not often in Wellington but if I am will stay here.
This hotel is away from the town center although there are local buses to the center. It is called a "boutique" hotel but this 'modern' description is very deceptive. It is an old hotel that needs to be modernized if it expects to stay in business. There is virtually no service at the weekend; this was particularly tough on us because we badly needed a map and a meal when we arrived and there was no one around to help. The hotel is in the "Central Business District" and is geared for activity between Mon-Fri only, catering for breakfast and lunch. It was our observation that this hotel is not concentrating on its guests, but rather on its functions and meeting rooms - it is the regular meeting place for the Masons. The room was spacious, the bathroom adequate, but very old fashioned, badly in need of a face lift; for example, there is a 100 year old lift (elevator) with sliding metal doors - difficult to get suitcases through! Reception could not produce our final invoice easily - altogether very disappointing for the price paid.
Very, very poor. Windows in bedroom were rusted, dirty, open and I could not reach the latch (and I'm tall); 'net' curtains in bedroom were creased and dirty; bathroom floor needed a good scrub; in the year of 2017 I would have thought an updated shower together with grab handles could have been installed. I am a lady of 'a certain age' and found the shower a bit of an issue having to climb in and out of the bath. On going into the lift I would have thought instructions to slide the door would have been helpful - instead of which the automatic action is to push or pull!
