My daughter and I were traveling to D.C. for a conference and stayed at the residence inn. The entire staff was beyond helpful from the front desk to the room staff..... just 5 star. Wendy the GM was the perfect host!
Loved the roomy accommodations in the studio we occupied: king sized bed and sofa bed. Especially, we loved the full kitchen, with full sized appliances, including dishwasher. Full, free, breakfast, daily, and a social on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, with snacks and drinks, including beer and wine. Extremely reasonable: Ave. price for 3 nights, $139++. There was plenty of room for the two of us, and there was a sofa bed that could accommodate one or two more people/children. The location was perfect. We needed to be at events at Goddard Space Flight Center and at the University of Maryland, and the hotel was minutes from both. There were numerous restaurants and shopping either within minutes from the hotel or very close by. There is a coin laundry on the premises. The living room area was comfortable and the TV could be turned so it could be watched either from the king size bed or the living area. The bed and pillows were wonderful. The bathroom was clean, but one more towel would have helped. There were three, and there were two of us who each like to use two. There was no ice bucket or bag for ice, so we had to call the desk to get someone to bring up a bag of ice. That worked, though, because we were able to put the bag in the freezer and have ice for our entire stay. Two large windows let in lots of light, yet the fabric shades provided much needed covering to keep out the light at night. The shade nearest our bed had a corner that was coming off the rod. We did not contact the front desk about that. It still darkened the room. The towel holder near the bathroom sink, was very pretty, but you could not actually hang the hand towels. We had to just lay them on the shelf where the hand towels had been neatly folded. They don't dry that well being laid on the shelf as they would if they could be hung. There was a lovely outdoor pool, but we did not use it. The breakfast was until 9:00 AM, and we arrived at 8:40 AM. It was average, with plenty of selection of typical hotel breakfast food. The scrambled eggs were practically cold, and there was no bacon. We had to wait 15 minutes for bacon, and by then there was a line formed, and we felt we could only take a couple of pieces so as to leave enough for everyone. The turkey sausage patties were, frankly, awful. The staff did bring out more bacon, but by then, people needed to leave to be on their way. In spite of that small problem, we would definitely look for a Residence Inn on our next trip.
Clean, friendly, great service, wonderful amenities, spacious rooms, excellent location. Can't speak more highly of this facility. We stay here every time we are in Maryland. Don't even look for another place to stay.
Have stayed here extensively on and off for a total of almost 2.5 months over the last couple years. Always great staff, easy shuttle transport, and lots of free drinks and food for dinner. Learn the schedule and ask for events because they are worth it! Shout out to Lorie Brown, Chris, and Oliver for the great help and even better conversations! I'll see you guys again!
The staff here were exceptionally friendly during my five-night stay, and the shuttle service, though not timely, was a nice perk. The breakfast was better-than-hotel-average, although I wish they would move the salsa and such to the left of the hot plates. Yes, this seems super picky, but when you're waiting in line for all the egg dressers, crankiness ensues. The room was sad: a giant stain on the carpet, a vanity shelf slanted and hanging by a screw, a dresser drawer that would not stay shut, a smell of mildew on the curtains above the desk, a dusty fake flower decoration. I should've complained for a better room, but I did not want to re-pack. The housekeeper was incredibly nice and the room was very clean. Finally, I had to work at UMD and this location fit the bill with a ten-minute Lyft ride if I didn't care to wait for the shuttle to the metro.
Just spent 2 nights at this wonderful property - less than 10 minutes from Univ of Maryland. Front desk staff was very welcoming upon our after 10 pm arrival; room was clean, quiet and all ready made up with rollaway that we had asked for in advance. Extra amenities requested and provided was extra towels and foam pillows. Beds were comfy. Property provides a fair breakfast and a lovely pool with lounge chairs. Could not ask for a more honest cleaning staff as I had accidentally left a small box with jewelry in it, in the end table. Wendy Wilson, the wonderful manager, has sent it right out to me via Fedex. The great location, staff and cleanliness will guarantee our return. Highly recommend!
I was in the area and I had work till late in the evening. Did not want to drive on I95 North after dark. Nothing is better than a night's stay in Residence Inn by Marriott. So I booked myself for one night here. This property has plenty of eating places around too. So I thought dinner will not be a problem. I was wrong. I reached the area just after 10 PM and I was disappointed to see all the restaurants closed their doors promptly at 10 PM. I went to the hotel hungry. Checked in and grabbed a ready dinner in a packet - Lean Cuisine variety. Ate it in the room and hit the bed. Had excellent quality sleep. Rooms was very spacious, a two room suite complete with kitchen though I used only the microwave for heating my dinner packet. Morning breakfast was in the restaurant on the lobby floor. Great variety to choose from. I even carried a coffee and snacks to munch on my way home. A great place to rest and eat breakfast. Enjoyed my stay
To say I'm upset is an understatement. Because of sever weather my flight was cancelled and I could not cancel my reservation within 48 hrs. I called the hotel to explain and they will still charge me for 1 nights stay. Catch 22?? WHAT A RIPOFF!!!!!
Hotel staff were courteous, efficient and professional. Breakfast had something for everyone - plenty of fresh choices. Our room was very clean and comfortable - spacious, well thought out. Odd odor, though, on entry to the room. Property is well maintained. The pull out sofa was unusable - painfully uncomfortable and the stains on the mattress, well.... However, the sofa sufficed for an extra spot to sleep. I'll add my voice to the other complaining about the unreliable card reader at the back parking entrance. It worked about 25% of the time. Luckily other times there was someone nearby inside to open the door to allow access. Had some loud neighbors upstairs (I think) that had us a bit concerned. I would recommend the Residence Inn and look forward to our next stay here. Great location - easy access to the Metro into DC.
Booked studio room with king size bed. Not available when checked in. Offered accessible room and took it. Bathroom has cracked tiles and the shower is a hand held shower with limited mobility. Toilet has a weird stain in the bottom. TV picture had frequent blurring moments. Elevator also had cracked tiles. Key card didn't work on the parking access door. Minor inconveniences that added up. The best thing, however, is that you are within 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. and they have a shuttle service to the Metro station (Greenbelt). You can't beat the price of the room, with great breakfast, free parking at the hotel and cheap Metro ride to D.C. within a half hour!
