While it has an amazing location and the restaurant staff were wonderful, however I felt a bit like I was in the original City of Merchants and was being "up sold" upon arrival with signs stating things that could be purchased in the lobby and in our rooms (5 of us traveling). I had 3 front desk people tell me about my arrangements for departure (as in here is this very helpful information, almost waiting for a tip). The evening turn down was mediocre and I don't think we didn't bother after the first night (of three). Of the front desk staff, I think only a couple of the gentlemen we dealt with had a sincere to see to our needs. (I wished I'd written down the name of the fellow that arranged our water taxi to the Lido Beach! He was the best!)
I never write reviews on here but I will make it simple - go to the gritti palace and spend some time before the trip working the concierge who are great and will help you make your trip smooth. I emailed with them for weeks before my arrival I was recognized for SPG platinum and upgraded + got breakfast gratis. Breakfast on the patio over looking the grand canal every morning is just heaven. Rooms very nice and updated for venice Highlights: Transfer: I paid 245 euros for the transfer from Marco polo airport which is insane to me but after a long flight having someone waiting for you taking your bags to private boat and taking you directly to the hotel is something my gf and I wont forget and well worth it - you can never under invest in logistics Restaurants: Listen to them - get a list and search yourself and let them help you make reservations. We loved Harrys Bar, Cips Club, Oro at the Belmond, Co Vino (super cool small little restaurant) and Da Arturo (unique experience small restaurant) Gritti Epicurean Cooking School - get to walk to the fish market and go to some local enoteca bars then cook a meal in the amazing kitchen with Franco. Expensive but well worth it a truly great experience Spa: Got the couples massage in the acqua di parma spa it was lovely and the couples room has its own shower and sauna which was great Riva Boat: Expensive but nice to get on a boat to murano and back. Can be done for less with water taxi but great experience All in all a well positioned hotel (geography wise) with amazing service and highly recommended
So, let's just get the imperfections out of the way: we had to wait quite a bit for our room, and the restaurant delayed our dinner order by an hour and got it wrong, making one of us have to order something else. You could be wondering: then why on earth would I give it a 5 star? Because they more than made up for it. It is an incredible and historic property, with unbelievable rooms, service, location, and just Venetian perfection. We could not have stayed at a better place. Having breakfast on that terrace is like nothing else. The art in the place is awe inspiring. I can't imagine staying anywhere else now when we hopefully return.
The Gritty hotel is very well located what suites me very much and I appreciated this location in Venice enormoslly. SO amazing how many streets around the hotel seems like a panopticum. Hotel quality is very good
This was our first hotel during our 2 week trip to Italy with our son and daughter-in-law, and the one against which all others were compared. The hotel is elegant and perfectly located. We were upgraded to canal view rooms and enjoyed watching the gondolas go by outside our window. The rooms were beautifully furnished and the bathroom toiletries were heavenly. We enjoyed starting each day with the amazing breakfast which is served on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. We arranged our transfers (from airport and to train) through the hotel, and the service was outstanding – well worth the money and much better than any of the transfers we arranged through our other hotels. While this hotel is pricey, I would recommend staying here if you can. If we return to Venice, we will definitely stay here again.
My stay at Grittii Palace was really wonderful, the room overlooking Canal Grande was a unique spot to admire the life in this busy spot of Venice. The suite itself was fantastic, the furniture, wall paintings and tapestry real masterpieces. Beside this the hotel restaurant, bar, concierge and all services were of the highest quality.
Our recent 2 night stay was everything we imagined. The transfer we arranged through the hotel was seamless - our host met us at the baggage carousel and guided us all the way. The room was beautiful - very high ceilings with wonderful windows and a large comfy bed. The location is central to St Mark's and the quality fixtures mean it is quiet and peaceful, although so much is going on just outside the windows. Thank you to the management for our upgrade to a suite with view of the grand canal. It was thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the bathroom toiletries. Breakfast overlooking the activities of the canal was a highlight of our stay. The concierge and reception staff were lovely. I couldn't fault a single thing and will be back again one day.
Came to this hotel on a very special occasion. Our room suite was spectacular and the breakfasts were delicious. The staff were kind, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The location is perfect with incredible views especially whilst sat for breakfast. Would highly recommend
Simply no words... any presentation of Gritti Palace is necessary....the best Palace in Venice and probably in the world! Traditions of Venice are all over, the best luxury forniture of noble venezian Palace. Special place is The lounge Riva bar, a terrace bar on the Grand Canal all build with special luxury wood of Riva yacht house in Naples! The service is absolutly 5 star and the cusine is very good and special!!! The first wonderful place in Venice for your special event!
Actually we went before the refurbishment. The priceless objets were there, antique rugs by the bed with covers to protect them, chandeliers, marble, furniture, paintings... We felt it was worth having the grand canal view to wave at the gondoliers and later by the way to be able to identify our room in Canaletto paintings. Homely it was not, but grander than the Negresco, Dorchester or Manoir, with pristine service and impressive cuisine. I couldn't comment on the alternatives, but arriving in a private launch was good.
