We had a fantastic time at this hotel, while we were in Venice to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday. The historic and attractive building is the perfect place if you want to stay somewhere in the style of a Venetian mansion. The beautiful terrace by the canal at the front and the garden at the back are great places to sit and we'd definitely recommend taking some time to relax there with a drink. The hotel is in a great location near Ponte dell' Accademia, meaning that it is only a 10-15 minute stroll to San Marco. Note that the area is apparently a student area so there can be a bit of noise in the street at night from people drinking - it didn't go on for long and it didn't really bother us but if you think it might, request a garden-view room instead. The room (Superior Double) was large, very clean and had beautiful views of the canal (I had requested a canal view and they were happy to oblige). The bathroom was clean but I felt that they should remove the bath and replace it with a modern shower. Note that the building's old wiring means that you can't use an iron or your own hairdryer in the room (a low power hairdryer is provided in the bathroom) but the staff let you use the laundry room for ironing if you ask at reception. The staff were professional, friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. They are able to provide lots of different ticket options for various attractions so it's worth asking about that in advance.
We were not expecting such a quiet and peaceful place, and wished we could have stayed a few additional nights. The desk/staff was so polite and professional -- very helpful. We had a garden suite and it was much bigger than we expected-- there was a great sized bathroom also. This was one of the first places we stayed in Italy and what a great way to be welcomed! Thank you Pensione Accademia! We hope to be back sometime-- to Venice and to Pensione Accademia!
My family and I stayed at this pensione for just one night, and we chose the place because of its great location and low price. We expected a decent, clean place and that is all. But we instead were treated to lovely hospitality, a charming courtyard, and very comfortable rooms with canal views. And since they have a dock right in front of the hotel, getting out before sunrise was easy. I would definitely stay again, and this time for much longer.
We first stayed here ages ago. We found it has retained its style and charm while having modernised the facilities. Our room was on the cosy side but had a lovely view of the small canal and a sight of the Grand Canal. The beds are comfortable, the rooms air conditioned and the breakfast is very good. With good desk staff, the hotel is a good place to base a short stay in beautiful Venice.
A most wonderful stay at the Pensione Academia. The hotel is very convenient to all major sights, the vaporetto, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the L'Accademia with paintings and sculptures by Italian Masters. Great breakfasts and within easy reach of many good restaurants. Would highly recommend it if you like art, want convenience, the ambiance of a real a Venetian neighborhood and love to walk or take the ferry or water taxis.
Fantastic location in Dorsoduro, quiet but so close to all the action. Clean comfortable room with a view down the canal. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful; always happy to give a recommendation when asked. Breakfast was good and could be eaten in the front courtyard, which we really enjoyed. Overall and excellent experience and highly recommended
Amazing! A real palazzo, we can view the canal from the window of our room. Charming gardens, classic decoration, elegant breakfast and very nice people working on. Localization is the most important: in Dorsoduro, close to the Accademia, walking distance to Piazza de San Marco, many options of restaurants around. It is not cheap, but it makes every penny worth!
Where do I start...... Perfection all the way around! The moment you walk in you are greeted by the most personable staff that greets you more like family than a hotel guest. The hotel is a step back of old Venice, quality throughout. The gardens are especially welcoming after a day of sightseeing to sip a glass of wine and enjoy a conversation with the other guests. Rooms are beautifully appointed with large windows that either look over the gardens or the canal. Located in a quiet part of town but easily convenient to everything. We loved it so much we extended our stay! Already looking forward to the next visit.
We stayed one night before starting a Celebrity cruise departing Venice the next day. The hotel location was ideal. The front desk staff was cordial and very helpful with arranging our water taxi from the hotel to the ship next day. The room was European top-of-the-line comfortable. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, complemented by friendly, helpful wait-staff, served on a beautifully landscaped terrace by the canal. By contrast, family who were joining us on the cruise stayed at a different hotel twice as expensive which didn’t include breakfast (35 euro/person extra) and were met with a indifferent front desk who weren’t interested in being helpful to paying guests.
Room much better than the pictures, place delightful, window to the Canal, flowers everywhere, excellent staff... what more can you wish for? Breakfast outside in the garden, with everything you need, beautiful places to read, and Venice at your doorstep without the multitudes. I stayed for 18 days, and will repeat next year!
