from the excitement of being collected from Marco Polo airport by the hotel boat and the thrilling 15 minute journey to Murano whilst getting to see our first view of Venice -this was an amazing way to beginning our visit to the beautiful Island....we were slightly concerned when we arrived at the jetty infant of a derelict looking ancient building -but our driver reassured us by directing us 'to the right ' and we got our first sight of this spectacular hotel. After a friendly reception-we enjoyed admiring the hotels amazing collection of Murano glass and arriving in our spacious room we were thrilled - the room got gold stars for my hotel wish list... it was spotless it felt secure the bed was amazingly comfortable and had an amazing shower...thats all i need !!! La Gare also offer their boat a free lift to and from Venice [must be booked] but The hotel is fronted by the water bus stops with boats every 10 minutes to Venice ,and an hourly night boat -which...is relates to our only quibble ...... we were in room 204 which is on the 2nd floor directly over the entrance into the hotel- so unfortunately we were woken during the night either by people chatting by the entrance [at the smoking area] or by the hourly boats which was a real shame...BUT....although we were not feeling rested in the morning- a tasty buffet breakfast-and the charming waiters, a cheery smile from reception and the excitement of being there soon livened our spirits ! This really is a very special hotel- on a beautiful island with easy access to Venice We would both love to visit again, and would definitely recommend LaGare to anyone planning a trip to Venice
We toured Italy for almost a month, but after resting our heads here, we simply did not want to leave this hotel. Most hotels in Italy do not come near comparison (which still boggles our minds, why wouldn't you want to upkeep your hotels). The other reviews have already touched upon the hotel's beauty and coziness etc, so I will stress that the creme brulee is the best we have had (and boy have we eaten creme brulee!) The breakfast was the best that we had while in Italy. Thank you to the staff and owners for understanding and respecting high quality. We applaud you.
Very pleased with this modern hotel that was created in an old glass factory. Beautiful Murano glass vases and a striking glass violin behind the front desk added historical feel and atmospheric ambience. We had a standard room that really had no view (just bushes and a wall), but the interior of the room was spacious, very clean, and decorated nicely. We enjoyed the small refrigerator, and we made use of lots of room on the open shelves. Bathroom was nicely stocked. King bed was very comfy as were the pillows. Breakfast buffet in the morning offered a wide variety of usual and unusual items. Terrific location; the water bus lets off right in front of the hotel. You can wander the streets of Murano, shopping for the famous glass; small, local restaurants nearby also. At first I was disappointed that our tour group was slated to stay in Murano rather than in Venice, but I was quickly won over by the old-fashioned charm of Murano. It seemed like it was a scaled-down, quieter Venice and perhaps what Venice felt like years ago. Absolutely loved Murano and actuallly would have liked more time to explore it's streets and shops.
We recently stayed here for a long weekend. The hotel itself is very nice with modern interiors, we stayed in a superior room which was lovely and looked out onto the large courtyard entrance. The breakfast in the hotel was good except for the coffee which was watery and tasteless, we ordered espresso each morning rather than drinking the coffee provided at the breakfast buffet. The hotel runs a fabulous private boat to and from Venice which we used each day just ensure you book the day before. We were travelling from Treviso Airport and were able to take the vaporetto from directly outside the hotel to Piazzale Roma in order to catch the airport bus, just be aware that if it’s foggy the vaporetto won’t always come to the museo stop.We loved Venice but enjoyed coming back to the tranquil Murano Island each evening.
Excellent Stay , Fabiola, Francesca,Michele, Thomas , Amadou, Khan...just to name a few people were very professionals and proud to be working for such a great place . I wish there were more shuttles to Venice island like the Sheraton chain .
No complaints. Immaculately clean. Excellent breakfast. Staff friendly. So pleased to have stayed on Murano away from the crowds. Shuttle just 8 mins from Venice. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
Just returned from a four night stay. The hotel is a very cleverly designed building within an older building so blends in beautifully with its surroundings. The light fittings and glassware and all locally sourced and even the female members of staff wear locally made necklaces. The transfer from the airport was an amazing start to our stay, a real James Bond moment! The shuttle service to Venice wasn't quite as easy as we thought it would be as very in demand and not as frequent as perhaps it could be, so it is worth getting your name down early on the list for this otherwise you could miss out. The Vaporetta stop is right outside the hotel but the launch is so much more fun and much quicker. The hotel itself is well presented and the staff on the whole friendly and welcoming. Alfonso in the restaurant and the Gentleman behind the bar deserve particular mention. The Staff on the main desk were not so friendly but were very efficient nonetheless and gave some excellent recommendations of alternative places to eat. The room was large and well furnished. The bed and pillow were very hard, to some people's liking I'm sure but coupled with very rough bed linen did not give me a good night's sleep on any of the nights we stayed this coupled with the mosquito who took up residence with us! On the second time of asking we were given a plug-in deterrent which seemed to do the trick. We had a dual aspect room but no view to be had which was a shame. The bathroom is small but well equipped, mould evident around the shower and towels getting a little threadbare but I am being really picky here and it wouldn't stop me staying here again! We didn't stop for breakfast as keen to get out and explore but we ate in the restaurant on the first evening and it was a brilliant start to our stay, both food and service exceptional. This hotel is a great base for exploring Venice. A quiet retreat to go back to after the masses of tourists, would thoroughly recommend.
The arrival experience and the welcome blew us out of our minds. The hotels guest relations department went all out to make our stay very comfortable. The room was a junior suite and it had a steam cum shower area which was definitely a plus for this category of hotel. The restaurant RISTORANTE RIVA LONGA served a large variety of delectable meals and the breakfast was lavish
Lovely hotel on murano island. Rooms are hug and spacious however not much of a view because it's a building within a building. Breakfast is ok. A lot of cold food and cake.there is a bar but not much lose to do. There is a gym a available but available for 2hrs in the morning and 2 hrs in the evening and hav to pay 10euro per person which is ridiculous. The island itself is quiet. The shops and restaurants close at 7. There are a couple of restaurants open. The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the airport. You can pre boom this in advance. It also offers a shuttle to Venice but it's a 20 min walk from the pick point to st marks square. It's a great hotel if you want quiet holiday
The folks who operate the speedboat shuttle made sure we and our luggage were delivered us safely to the LaGare. It is a little difficult to find the shuttle at the airport; the directions given could (and should) be much more descriptive and helpful. This is especially true since the typical visitor arriving at Marco Polo Airport has been up a long time. The reception staff at the hotel were polite and friendly, even though we were too early. Our luggage was stored while we went to the City to meet a friend. Going to and from the City was never a problem for us, as we reserved a spot on the speedboat shuttle in advance. One time we took the city "bus" just for the experience - it was interesting, but took a long time because of all the stops. We enjoyed this hotel. Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable. There wasn't a great view, but we were not sitting around inside looking out. The breakfast was very good, with a large selection and, again, helpful staff. At one point, the built-in radio in the bathroom would not stop playing and a maintenance man came (quickly) to disconnect it. After "almost" canceling our reservations on Murano out of concern we would miss out by not being in Venice City, we are glad we decided to stay there. It is so peaceful and quiet. A walk along the sidewalks at sundown is like something out of a movie. A few children playing, couples holding hands, husbands returning home after work. It's a nice place to relax, and nothing like the hustle/bustle of the City of Venice. You should be aware that the shuttle loads and unloads on the north end of Venice island. A caveat: it's a pretty long walk from the loading location to, say, St. Marks Square and other famous places. You should plan on doing a lot of walking, anyway, if you are going to Venice, and the neighborhoods are interesting as you pass through going from the shuttle to the most famous places. Just be aware. If cost is important it is worth noting that the price at LaGare is about half as much as a comparable hotel near St. Marks.
