The hotel itself is really great. It has historical charm and a beautiful view from the breakfast room. I also got a really reasonable price, although it was low season. The staff at the front desk are also very helpful and friendly. I can't really fault the hotel itself and really enjoyed staying there. The only downside to this hotel is that it's a little far from central bridges, which makes it a bit of a walk to major attractions around San Marco. If you're up for walking it's not a problem. You'll likely do a lot of walking in Venice no matter where you stay, but if you want to limit distances you'll have to cover, I'd recommend staying a bit closer to Ponte Rialto or San Marco.
We stayed in a quadruple standard room for 3 nights. The location is great on the Grand Canal and loved the deck. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise and the staff very nice. The hotel had the old world charm but felt dirty and smelled musty. Our room walls were all marked up. The carpet on the stairs to the 3rd floor were never cleaned. There is no lift. Lastly, what was that thing they called a hair dryer. It looked like a central vacuum cleaner hose. It was useless. Don't think we would stay here again.
Stayed 3 nights directly on the Grand Canal with a beautiful deck with table & chairs and views. Gorgeous old charm hotel with so much character. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was great on the second floor with a lot of choices. It was away from all the crowds and just a 6 min. walk to the Rialto Bridge. I would totally recommend this hotel without a doubt.
The best thing is the location on the Grand Cannal, room was large but the bed was very hard. It certainly is better than staying off island, as the time between 6pm and 930 am when the hoards of tourist leave is the best time in Venice. So this slender four story old home converted into a hotel is not a bad choice if you get a good deal.
The positives: directly on the grand canal and a 5 minute water taxi ride from the train station. The concierge provided a roll away bed at no charge due to a booking error which saved me 30 euro. It is a 15 minute walk to San Marco Square and a 7 minute walk to the Rialto bridge. The negatives: No lift and no bellman on service when we checked in so I had to lug 11 bags (family of 5) up two very steep sets of stairs in the sweltering heat. The air conditioning is completely inefficient and the ambient room temperature in our room after having it cranked for hours was over 84 degrees. The room was musky and in need of some major updates. The included breakfast was one of the worst we have ever had (stale croissants, all cold options). If you're looking to stay in a historic hotel on the grand canal and don't need any frills this might suit your needs. I was extremely unimpressed for the $430/night price tag.
Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of May with a friend who was experiencing Venice for the first time, (my eighth time here to my most favorite city). The hotel and staff did not disappoint! We had a first floor room with windows opening onto the Grand Canal for great views of all the early morning activity! And an outdoor deck right on the Canal for early evening relaxation and apertivi! Best Aperol spritz, great waiter/porter Ernesto!!!!!! Breakfast offerings covered all bases from cereal and fruits and juices to pastries, eggs, toast, meats and cheeses - great start for morning wandering. Not to mention great cappuccino! And the tucked away nature keeps the noise level down yet easily reachable from either the San Stae or Rialto Mercado boat stops. Best was the view of Lorenzo Quinn's sculpture of the hands rising out of the Canal at the Hotel Ca Sagredo to represent Climate change and rising waters! (Although I was unable to upload my pictures of the sculpture). Would definitely return here.
This is a beautiful hotel tuck away among the alley ways of Venice (easy enough to find with GPS or Google). Staff are very pleasant and always eager to help. Hotel backs on to the Grand Canal and has a charming litte patio where you can sit and sip while you watch Venice float by. Rooms are well appointed, clean and spacious. Where would you rather be??
Lovely hotel very Italian decor friendly staff very helpful and pleasant ,beautiful pier to sit on at back of hotel where you can wile away the hours meeting fellow travellers with a glass of 🍷 as you watch Venice and its culture drift by so relaxing. Breakfast was provided and was more than ample with bacon sausage and egg and all the usual continental breakfast pastries and ham and cheese coffee and tea just beautiful. Would definately return, one negative very steep stairs which to be fair if I was fitter wouldn't be a problem but we were on third floor
We visited Venice for 3 days on a recent vacation to Italy and spent 3 nights at this charming hotel. If you want a place that has the charm of the city, the flavor of the city, and is in the heart of the city, this hotel is for you! The room we had was a standard double, with two twin beds, and had a window to the "street" side, not the water or waterfront side. Not to worry! For breakfast you can have a Grand Canal view, if you get there early enough you can have a Grand Canal view from one of two balcony tables! The breakfast was very adequate to start our days. Our room was more than adequate and had all the charm of the age of the structure. While the hotel is on the Grand Canal, you will need to plan on walking some good distances to places like St. Mark's Square, the Rialto bridge, etc. The hotel staff will give you a good map showing the "streets" and how to get to and from the Hotel! Quite an adventure! We walked an average of 6.5 miles each day we were there as we only used transportation when we went out of Venice on a side trip to Murano and Burano Islands. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks San Cassiano Residenza! We loved our time with you!
We stayed here for 4 nights from the end of may to the beginning of june and it was amazing! The rooms are clean and spacious with the uniqueness of old style venice! Its location is tucked away but easy enough to find with google maps or just a old school style paper map.You are only a 20/25 minute walk to riallto bridge which is easy enough to navigate too once you have done it once or twice!!The staff are amazing and so helpful and would like to say a special thanks to Ernesto who couldn't do enough for us thankyou Ernesto!!The hotel is situated right on the canal with a beautiful little pier that you can sit out on watching the traffic of the canal while enjoying a cold beer! The breakfast was enjoyable with just enough to choose from and if your lucky enough to arrive and see one of the outdoor balcony tables available grab it as the views are wonderful! My fiancé and i really enjoyed are time here and couldn't recommend it enough!!
