Pleasant stay in quiet, yet central part of Venice. Lots of good restaurants close by and within walking distance of everywhere. The hotel is quite basic but clean and comfortable and who goes to Venice to stay in hotel. I would choose to stay here again if I was lucky enough to return to Venice
For those who don't know Cannaragio is a great place for a hotel as it is near the Station and bus drop off points. This means not dragging luggage too far either on arrival or if you have to leave and the pick up bags on day of leaving. This hotel is warm, friendly, clean with some of the best staff I have met in some 10+ trips to Venice. Nice breakfast and all round great value.
Mixed feelings about this hotel Bad points The hotel is a little run down and I completely understand it's a old building with character but I think it's looking a little dated with furniture but also walls need filling with plaster and repainting. Reception smells when you walk in However the room we stayed in smelt very nice. Unfortunately we did not sleep first night due to drunks walking past and banging things. Which is not the hotels Fault but if you are a light sleeper it's probably not the best location. Also people staying on same floor we're noisy. Plug socket in our room was a little faulty when you put charger in the lights do flicker. Blanket made me itch so used the sheet Positives... Bed was comfortable Bathroom good size No lifts but we knew that and staff are friendly enough to help if your struggling. Staff friendly at the reception You can leave key at reception which is a good idea 24 hour reception Room smelt nice Clean tidy room Room was a good size Also has heating on so lovely and warm Hotel 3 star hotel and get what you pay for it's spot on
We only had one full day in Venice after arriving early on the train. We were happy to pay a little extra and upgrade to a room that was available at 9am, and it was perfect for us. Bathroom is basic but the room was really spacious and we had a great view of the canal. The breakfast was also great and had plenty of options! Everyone here was extremely helpful and friendly!
Friendly. Let us check in very early, although we had to upgrade our room. Room was large with a nice view of the canal. A few stairs if that’s an issue for you. Bathroom needs updating but functional.
Great little hotel in a good location close to the station (so you don't have to carry luggage very far or over many bridges). Very friendly and super helpful staff as well as a great included breakfast. We definitely recommend!
Gorgeous little hotel a short walk from a vaporetto stop. Quiet and yet very local. There is a sweet little terrace on the roof where you can sit and chat or read, even on a sunny winter's day. Very friendly desk and breakfast staff; nothing is too much trouble even late in the evening. There is a little bar adjacent to the breakfast room. Great for a late night hot chocolate or drink. Our room was very clean with a superb bathroom - all warm during the November stay we had. Breakfast is a good continental offering with enough choice and waitress served for certain items. Perhaps the room was a little small but you don't spend time sitting in a room when you are visiting perhaps the most beautiful city in the world. You really are central with a small market every day along the nearby street and the boats are only a five minute walk away but still so peaceful! The railway station and bus stops to the mainland are also pretty close by. The Ghetto area is just opposite and there is a good selection of restaurants and cafes within a 10 - 5 minute stroll.
We stayed for 2 nights in late November, booked via British Airways, and only slightly hmmm about a 'private separate bathroom in the corridor' noticed after we booked. The Hesperia is a short walk from the station or Piazzale Roma, right on the Cannaregio canal so near to the Jewish Ghetto and many great bars and restaurants with a convenience store downstairs. 10/10 for location. Room (206) was fantastic - high up on the second floor and overlooking the canal. We hadn't booked a canal view, they just gave us one and very nice it was too; medium size, washbasin, marble floor, safe and minibar. The private bathroom was a few doors down (with our own key) and was immaculate with shower, loo, and bidet. Lots of towels and shampoo / shower cap etc. Bring slippers if marble is too chilly for you. Breakfast is downstairs and you can eat very well; cheeses and ham, eggs, yoghurts, every sort of baked goods from rice cakes to bread via patisseries and as much coffee or tea as you want. The great thing throughout was the staff, both at reception and in the breakfast area - they spoke many, many languages, were friendly and helpful, happy to chat, and let us stow our bags before our flight. There is also a wonderful roof terrace (which we didn't really use at the end of November) with great views over the rooftops of Cannaregio. Absolutely recommend this hotel - it only lost a star for the bombardment of mosquitos at night (our fault for having the windows open) and the noise of student revelry at 1am, then boats unloading bottles and boxes at 5am (ditto).
My husband booked this trip for my 30th and I was not disappointed. The hotel was really easy to get to from the airport by water boat costing €15 per person for a half an hour trip which takes you to the 'Guglie' stop directly opposite the hotel so it's just a short walk across the bridge and down the other side (all very well lit & manageable with luggage) The hotel was very Venetian- to say it was dated suggests a negative vibe but it was true to it's location, quirky & charming. I wouldn't have wanted to be in some new mod-con hotel in Venice- it just isn't what it's about. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and do offer to carry your bags upstairs when you arrive. There is a small bar with very reasonable drink prices (especially compared to some places in Venice) and the reception is manned 24 hours a day so there is always someone to hand should you need anything. The breakfast was fab. As many cappuccinos as you like, cakes, pastries, croissants, rye bread, white bread, butter, jams, cheese, Parma ham, hams, selection of juices, cereals, milk. Really tasty and you can help yourself to as much as you like. Was a great start to our day!!! We had an economy double room so essentially it was 2 single beds put together but you wouldn't have known. It was comfy, the room & bedding was super clean and cosy and our view was of the canal which was amazing!!!! There are shutters which allows it to be nice and dark and quiet. We had a private bathroom just a couple of doors down from our room which was actually fine. We got given a key. It was really clean and their were towels, soaps and a hair dryer available. Perfect for us. Location wise - it was easy to get to from the airport then probably a 15 minute walk to the main train station and it took us about 45 minutes to walk to st marks square but we probably didn't go the most direct route. We were just mozeying along and enjoying the little narrow streets and shops of Venice. We got a boat back for £7.50 per person that allowed you to see lots of the local area. Over all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend and come and stay again. Thank you hotel Heperia for a fab and welcoming trip to Venice.
We stayed here for two nights this October after initially booking a hotel in Mestre. It was quite a pricey increase given we wanted to stay in Venice itself so we were expecting good things. Like a lot of the hotels we saw online it is VERY dated. When checking in we were told that it was a twin room and if we wanted we could have the double room at an increased price. When we saw the twin room it was essentially two single beds pushed together so that was fine however a standard room for Two adults does suggest a double room would be required. The bathroom was again very dated and I couldn't seem to find a switch for the towel rail when we got wet in the rain. There is no lift in this hotel so if you have heavy luggage expect to haul it up and down the stairs and also you have to give your room key in to reception whenever you leave which we thought was a bit strange (the key however is massive and very heavy so probably a good thing!!). Breakfast wasn't great, the pastries were rock hard and the bread was hard too. Location wise it was a bit of a walk to St Marks Sq and the Rialto Bridge area, I think if we visited again we would pick a hotel nearer those places.
