Hotel Giudecca Venezia3.0 out of 5.0

We stayed here for 4 nights last month and enjoyed very much the location and the ease of getting around Venice by vaporetto which you can catch in a 2 minute walk from this hotel.Although not large the room was nicely furnished and very clean. The bathroom with shower was fine too. The breakfast was quite good with the typical European buffet . We want to in particular praise the excellent service we received from both Eleonora and Elena at the front desk . Each went out of their way to answer our many questions, and provide much help and advice. They were superb professionals and really made our stay wonderful. As mentioned in many other reviews, the internet/wifi was only available in the lounge/reception area. That seemed OK initially but after the second day it really became quite a hassle . In this day and age there really is no excuse for a hotel like this to not invest in the proper equipment to extend internet access to each guest room. For the reason , as much as I'd like to, I can't justify a 5 star rating .
I can't really fault this hotel for the price. We stayed for four nights and it was very comfortable, in a good location and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We liked the location (on Giudecca island) - it's a short boat ride to the main sights but the island itself is quiet with a good choice of restaurants along the waterfront. We ate at a different one each night and got to sit right by the water each time, even though it was peak tourist season. Our room was a little small, but I think this is to be expected in Venice. It was modern, clean and had all the amenities you would expect (including air conditioning, which was essential in June!) The hotel bar is pleasant, with a small balcony right on the canal where two people can sit. The drinks there were cheaper than anywhere else we went in Venice (we drank prosecco, spritz and red wine - all of which were nice) Breakfast was pretty standard continental, with some nice pastries. The mini bar is well stocked and reasonably priced, but there's also a decent-sized Co-op nearby where you can stock up on water and other bits. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Venice on holiday.
This was our first stop on our 3 week honeymoon tour of Italy. It was recommended by a friend so decided to give it a go. Landed at Venice, jumped on a bus for 20 mins and then got a boat across to Giudecca Palaca, where our hotel hid across a bridge and down a classic venetian alley, into a square, sat beside a bridge and canal. (Giudecca Palaca is now home to a lot of Venetian residence that no longer live on the main tourist island). So a real feel of the Italian community. Great Restaraunt along the front over looking Venice and good little shops for water and basics. On entering the hotel, first thoughts are clean, modern and super friendly (smiley) staff, who checked us in and explained the city tax rule that you pay on all hotels that you pay in Italy. We were taken to our room and showed the the basics as all hotels do and then left to crack on. It's only then when you look around for yourself that you see little things. I am first to agree that I do like my luxuries and am a bit of a hotel snob. This is a three star after all and it was ok, I would stay there again, especially for £100 a night (Expedia). The room was a double, we lived out of our suitcases as we where moving on, but there was not really enough room to leave both cases out (I know it's not ideal to do what we were doing). There was wardrobe space for a few clothes. The bathroom was clean and not a bad shower either (I love a shower). Things were a little over used, but it's not the Hilton. So all in all room is pretty good. It is after all a place to put your head down and we were there for 3 nights only. I know you go on holiday to get away from work, the news and social media, but you could only get wifi in the bar. This for me is something I would like in the room, as I needed to be reachable all the time and I like to to have a read of a few websites on going to bed to help me book tickets and find info for the next days agenda. Breakfast we in a nice bright room and it is a self serve. It is a cold breakfast and is the usual cereal, meats and fruit. I struggled here as I have recently found out I'm gluten intolerant, so for me it was cornflakes and a yoghurt. Where as my better half was ok with fruit and pastries and more or less everything, apart from salad, but us brits are weird like that! The bar area was nice, there is even a little private table for two behind some glass doors so you can sit next to the canal. No soft drinks at the bar, only alcohol, so no mixing. We settled for prosecco though. You could of had a coffee. All in all a pleasant stay and a great island to be on.
Situated at the convergence of two canals on the island of Giudecca. Out of the hustle and bustle of the main island with Room to move and air to breathe. On 10 minutes ride on a vaporetto (water bus) to a Piazza San Marco. Nicely furnished room. Decent buffet breakfast. Great staff. Wide open square at front of hotel with a beautiful wooden bridge across the canal. Good restaurants on the island,
Great staff, nice quiet location with easy access to the water boats to transfer to the main island. Some great local places to eat too. Be aware that at present wifi is only in reception but it is free and unlimited. Apart from one room there are no views as it is down an alley away from the waterfront, but it's quiet, clean, safe and comfortable and the staff as all very pleasant and helpful.
This is a great hotel only a very short water bus ride from St Marks Square. Much better than staying on the mainland and very reasonable prices at the cafes and restaurants around the corner. Room was large and views of the canal. Breakfast was adequate with pastries, cold meats, fruit, cereal etc but coffee was out of a machine. Staff were very helpful. Main problem - it is really hard to find! I had presumed that I would find some sort of a map or signpost once on the island and in the vicinity but nothing. Even the hotel sign is tiny and you wouldn't see it if you didn't know it was there.
It looks as stated on the pictures, so you can rely on that. The only things I would comment on are the Wifi, is too slow and can only be used in the lobby, and the breakfast, for the money I paid I don't see this breakfast worthy. Most of it comes out of a wrapping or packaging, like the croissants or the juice. My tip: save the money of the breakfast and go somewhere else in the island! The hotel has a very good location on the other side of the river. So not in Venice! But in 5-6 min with the boat you are in Piazza San Marcos. The people at the reception are fantastic! Almost even like tour guides letting you know about great spots to eat and drink, as well as to visit and they speak almost any language perfectly. Thumbs up for that.
Wonderful hotel with lovely staff. Highly recommended. Most comfortable, quiet, excellent location, and conducive both to rest and to work. Staff are extremely helpful and efficient. I come back often.
The place was really nice - our room was upgraded to canal view which was amazing. The only thing was that you don't get wifi in the bedrooms. The Giudecca island is quieter at that time of the year than the rest of Venice.
Really enjoyed three nights here. Warmly welcomed and looked after. My only reason for not making it 5 was that the bed was quite hard - but that's personal preference. In all other respects this is excellent, location and value for money. Being away from the busiest parts of Venice is a real bonus, and the vaporetti trips to and from the rest of the city were part of the holiday adventure.
