Only spent 2 days in Venice but couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay than hotel a la commedia Very comfortable accommodation and extremely helpful staff Great location for all the major sightseeing locations and convenient for transport around Venice and to/from the airport
We stayed here with our 3 teenage girls when we were in Venice. The hotel was very convenient to the water taxi, and to everything we planned to see while we were there. The room was very nice, and the bathroom very large and bright, which is important with 3 teenage girls. The staff at the front desk provided us with great restaurant suggestions, and were able to direct us to our destinations. Breakfast was included with our room, and was delicious! We would definitely recommend this hotel.
A perfect choice for Venice. The location is superb for a few reasons: if you arrive in Venice by car or from the airport and use a water taxi to get to the hotel, the closest taxi stop (Rialto B) means that lugging baggage is breeze not having to negotiate stairways and only a 2 minute walk; the hotel is in the Rialto area meaning easy access to everywhere; and the hotel is situated in a relatively quiet location and therefore far enough away from the madding tourist crowds. The location also meant that we could easily get back to the hotel to recover and re-fresh at any time after experiencing the heat wave and humidity in Venice at the time. The hotel itself can be considered to be luxurious with really lovely and well appointed and spacious rooms. The beds are amongst the most comfortable we have ever experienced in a hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The breakfasts are great and the staff attending the breakfasts are fantastic. This hotel just has to be highly recommended if it falls within your budget.
The hotel is in a great location to see all the main sites in Venice. Surprisingly quiet location too. Top tip would be to pre-book the attractions online so that you can avoid the queues and make the most of your time in Venice. We got the Alilaguna waterbus to/from the airport, it was so easy to buy the return tickets at the airport and find where to catch it. The journey takes about an hour each way (orange line to Rialto stop).
We spent the first 2 nights of our honeymoon in July and were very happy with our choice. The location was ideal - only a couple of minutes' walk from Rialto Bridge and within easy walking distance from Piazza San Marco, with plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from for dinner. All of the staff we dealt with were really friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, with a large, comfortable bed and a very big bathroom with a tub and a shower. The rooftop terrace bar was the perfect place to end the day over a cocktail and some snacks. The breakfast was Continental and tasty (the pastries were delicious). Our only complaint was that the rooms don't have coffee-making facilities - they'll bring this to your room on request, but ours was removed the following morning, so it seems the request has to be made each day. This is a minor issue and wouldn't stop me from returning to this lovely hotel, or from happily recommending it to others.
Hotel was a short walk from the water taxi from the airport. Staff was friendly, but some were more helpful than others. We liked the location, a short walk to the Rialto bridge and not too far from St Marks square. Be forewarned the streets in Venice are beautiful but you will get lost, but that's ok. Our room was very nice, a touch of elegance we enjoyed. Breakfast was typical European which means it was just ok for an American. Do go to the rooftop bar for an evening drink if it's warm enough. Nice atmosphere and views, we really liked it.
I personally like boutique hotels in Europe, especially in cities such as Venice that offer a rich culture in which you really need to indulge yourself. The welcoming, professional staff complement the cozy, warm ambiance of the hotel the moment you step into the well-decorated lobby. Called Hotel a La Commedia because it’s near Teatro Goldoni (as the nice night-shift receptionist told us), the nice boutique hotel offers comfort and true four star service with the convenience of being so close to the heart of Venice, Piazza San Marco. Staying for two nights with my wife at Hotel a La Commedia, I could say it’s a +4.5 star property, if not even a five star given all the pluses it offers i.e. convenient location (close to the great Piazza San Marco, Rialto bridge, Teatro Goldoni, vaporetto stop...) great staff, fine breakfast, clean and nicely decorated rooms with the warm lighting, comfortable beds; and I could go on and on… The turn-down service with the nice candy and complementary water was just another hint of how important guest care is to the hotel, The breakfast buffet was of course not as extended as what one might expect from 5-star hotels, but the food was very delicious and the variety was acceptable. The waiters were also very friendly and attentive. I was told that the Lounge Bar Il Loggione at the hotel was a place to end a glorious evening in Venice and enjoy its spectacular views while sipping on the city’s signature cocktail drink “Spritz”, but to our bad luck, the bar was closed when we were staying at the hotel due to pouring rain a few hours earlier! Putting the price next to all the above mentioned, I should say without a doubt that Hotel a La Commedia could easily be placed among the top three 4-star properties in Venice’s San Marco area. We are most probably going back if we visit Venice again and strongly recommend the place to anyone who wants to get a true feeling of hospitality, comfort, and convenience. Tip For Those Going To The Airport From The Hotel: Don't take the expensive taxis to Venice Airport; you could get affordable Alìlaguna tickets to the airport from Rialto station.
We stayed 2 nights in July and it was excellent. We were very well welcomed and accompanied to our room. The staff was very kind and professional and everything was pleasant: location, bed, decoration, cleanliness..
For us this was a luxurious hotel, with a great and well stocked breakfast buffet, excellent service and staff, and an amazing rooftop patio: we went up there each night for a beer and jazz music and a view of the city. Very well situated for restaurants and shopping.
We stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon and we loved it. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed. The bed was so comfortable and they had the really thick blinds which block out all light which is important for a light sleeper like myself. The bathroom was stunning and huge compared to most hotel bathrooms. There's a rooftop bar which we enjoyed drinking cocktails and eating cheese during the evenings. Breakfast was fine, not a huge selection but definitely adequate and something for everyone. The pastries were delicious. The location was brilliant, we walked everywhere and found some good places to eat nearby. We would happily stay here again.
