First of all: the most important thing about this place is that you don´t have to go over bridges or stairs to get there from the vaporeto like most of the hotels in the city. Actually it is pretty easy to get there and to wander around. The staff is great and always available. The room is big, beautiful and comfortable, and there is a café at the rooftop where we spend great time in our afternoons. It is really a n affodable luxury in such an expensive city.
My wife and I loved this hotel. It was a great balance of affordability (taking into account the higher cost of Venice generally) and luxury. The front desk was very welcoming. The starry night sky in the elevator was notably romantic. The bed was the most comfortable we stayed on in Europe. The bathtub/shower combination was nice. The fact that we didn't have to have our hotel key in a slot to power the room's electricity was awesome for charging our portable electronics during the day. Overall, an awesome hotel.
Disappointment sometimes (but fortunately very rarely) occurs well before you enter the doors of a hotel. This was one of those cases. We had booked and paid for our room at the La Commedia hotel some 6 weeks earlier through an online hotel booking agency and all had been confirmed and money had been taken out of our account. On the morning of our arrival, I called to make sure that all was in readiness as my wife was to celebrate her 50th birthday during our stay. What a surprise it was to be told that the booking did not exist and that I would have to look elsewhere. Roberto who answered the phone was very abrupt and told me in no uncertain manner that it was the online booking agency fault and that it was not their problem. Now I know that there are always many sides to a story. The biggest disappointment was that he and the hotel management made no effort to help or to give me any options or other places to stay. We have never experience such arrogance or refusal of help in any of our travels around the world. So to staff and management of La Commedia I say "shame on you". Shame on you that you did not take an opportunity to help 2 stranded and confused travelers in need.
A respite in over-crowded Venice. Large-for-Europe, quiet comfortable room, nicely furnished. Super friendly staff. Gave me a complementary upgrade to a deluxe room and sent prosecco and fruit to me. Breakfast was great. As a solo traveler in town for Biannale, I appreciated the lack of raised eyebrows or smirks that a solo traveler tends to get.
Our room was very nice and clean. We celebrated our birthdays there and the hotel had noticed this and gave us a present during breakfast! Very nice gesture. The hotel is close toe everything and the walk from Rialto boat station is about 1 min away with luggage. The hotel is quiet and has a nice terrace for drinks on top. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Perfect location, high standard of customer service, lovely furnished rooms that are very comfortable. Excellent breakfasts and the roof top bar was perfect for evening drinks. Could not ask for more. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were so helpful.
Really can’t! All the staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel is cosy & to a high standard. The rooftop bar terrace is a definite bonus with great views across Venice & became a must visit pre-dinner when one drink always went to two - it was just so relaxed & the head barman was always ready with a welcome. My sister & I were sad to leave and will definitely stay here again for our next visit. Very good location for all the main attractions of Venice.
Four fellow travelers enjoyed a wonderful stay in Venice at Hotel A La Commedia. It’s location is perfect within easy walking distance of St. Mark’s Square, the Rialto Bridge, water transportation, as well as great restaurants and shopping. The accommodations, staff, and service are superior. Looking forward to coming back to Venice and staying in this hotel again!
Hotel a La Comedia We spent three nights at the Hotel a La Commedia in Venice during our recent vacation in Italy. This is a beautiful hotel in a very convenient location. It is not directly on one of the canals, but this ensures a very quiet location as there are no motor vehicles in the area. The hotel was easy to find, only a very short walk from stops for either a Water Taxi or Water Bus (Rialto). It is also an easy walk to Piazza San Marco, the Rialto Bridge, and other sights of the city. The room was quiet, elegant, and comfortable. The only noise to be heard was the frequent chiming of the church bells. Breakfast included a good selection, and the coffee was particularly enjoyable - dark and strong, the best we had our two weeks in Italy. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and securing arrangements for a canal tour and a visit to a glass factory in Murano. Another real highlight of this hotel is the rooftop bar. During good weather (which fortunately we had each day), this is a peaceful location for a quick drink or snack. If/when we return to Venice, we will not hesitate to stay again at the Commedia.
Have been coming back and this is ninth year, cannot fault the Hotel. Staff make you feel most welcome and comfortable and very knowledgeable, great assistance on every occasion. Always willing to please and go out of their way to ensure your needs are met.
