Excellent 5* hotel, good size room, outstanding service. But most important breathtaking views on Ducale. You just can not beat this. They have shuttle boat to St. Marco every 30 min and in 10 min you are in the center of Venice. We've been in Venice 4 times before and never experience anything like that. Next time in Venice we will definitely go back.
Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are gorgeous and the lobby/entrance area make it known that you are in a 5 star property. The decor is like being inside an Architectural Digest and the colors are soothing and calming after a long day pounding the pavement. However, it's the location right on the water that makes it so wonderful. The staff was amazing and the free water taxi between this property in Giudecca and their other property makes it easy to get around without having to shell out more $ in this expensive city.
This is a charming hotel which was once a convent. It is on an island a short boat trip (free) to the main part of Venice. The gardens of the hotel are beautiful. The only complaint I have, is that the bathroom was very dark. It could use some more lights.
We stayed at the Bauer Palladio which is situated on the Giudecca Island for our honeymoon. It was great being on the island away from the centre of Venice after busy days of sightseeing, very peaceful and made even better with the absolutely stunning enclosed gardens. The hotel offer a free private boat transfer (taking 3 minutes) to and from their sister hotel, crossing over the mouth of the Grand Canal, every 30 minutes. The drop off point is then only a 2 minute walk from the Piazza San Marco. All of the hotel staff were extremely friendly, speaking Italian and English, we also heard one of the receptionists speaking in German to another guest. The front desk arranged our water taxi on the day of departure, which took approximately 45 minutes to Marco Polo Airport, but there is a water bus point outside of the hotel too. Dinner at the hotel was lovely, with the drinks selection equally as good. Breakfast was a a choice between continental and hot buffet with the usual teas, coffee, fruit juices etc. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
Charming oasis and perfect place to stay when in Venice. A short few mins hotel free transfer away from StMarcos square. Former convent and designed by famous Andrea Palladio, this hotel is a gem. It's gardens are magical with jasmine, agapanthus and meadows like greenery. Staff are incredibly kind and warm apart from a grumpy cleaner I encountered. Food is ok, I would venture out to eat at the restaurants nearby. This hotel has incredibly good energy and will restore the weariness of travellers. Away from the hordes of tourists. Our room had its own charming private garden where you can sunbathe discreetly and surrounded by the smell of jasmine. Heavenly. Highly recommend this hotel.
We were staying at the Bauer hotel and came over here for dinner one night. The hotel provides a regular launch service between the hotels. There were four of us on the launch to the Palladio. We entered the hotel which seemed empty and had a drink on the terrace before we were dive bombed by a pigeon which attacked the nuts and snacks and blitzed my wine glass. Helped by a very apologetic waiter we made our way inside to the restaurant where the only other diners were the couple had had come over with us on the launch. We both had the beef fillet with potatoes, beautifully cooked. I had a local red wine Rondon which was recommended by the sommelier. At the end of a course we were chatted to by one or more of the waiters and after I had had a mixture of sage flavoured fruit with sorbet and gelato we realised that we were by now the only people left. Then the chef came out to talk to us and finally we left back to the Bauer. The meal was excellent, the waiters friendly and knowledgable, what a shame that the restaurant, for whatever reason, was devoid of guests
The Bauer Palladio was recommended to us by two couples of friends, one German, one French. As it was our first visit we decided to treat ourselves to the private transfer – well worth it – delivered to the hotel slip. Our German friends had recommended room 227, so that’s what we had. Although somewhat spartan, it was large, with a separate walk in wardrobe, and the most fabulous view of Venice. The “Navetta” every 30 minutes over to the Bauer Palazzo was very convenient and takes just 5 minutes to the other side. But of course what we most appreciated was to be far away from the hordes of people across the water. The hotel has a huge English garden where one can lay out in the sun and the only sound is birdsong. The staff were exceptional – nothing too much trouble. We must make a special mention of Carolina at reception who was so helpful, and even came to wave us off on the boat when we left. “Un bacio grande”
We had visit the Palladio during our first visit to Venice but did not stay . We had a water taxi take us from the station to the hotel which is always worth the experience even though a little expensive . We were a little early for checking in and a suggested alternative room was recommended by the receptionist. Although did not have the booked garden view the room was larger and comfortable. The garden of the hotel are a seclusion un seen in such a busy place of Venice. A hotel launch takes you the short distance from the hotel to the other Braur hotel which is only 5 mins from St Marco square. The hotel staff are very helpful especially at reception and the concierge always at hand. Worth the extra to pay for the location and services,
What a place! Perfectly located away from the bustle of Venice yet within 5 minutes to St Marks. The gardens in early May are filled with scent of roses of every variety and the promise of lavender in June. A treat for gardeners and those seeking relaxation. The garden rooms are highly recommended.
We spent a few days at this beautiful hotel and we will never stay anywhere else when visiting Venice again. The most distinct aspect of this hotel is its exceptionally relaxed admosphere. The crowds in Venice can sometime be somewhat overwhelming, but a short boat ride across the lagoon brings you to a whole new world. The gardens are extremely beautiful. Book a room with a view over the lagoon - it is exceptional. The service was very professional. Some people would find the decor quite spartan but in my view it suits the atmosphere of the hotel.
