Fronting the grand canal the taxi stops right in front of their door, Our suite was flawless and comfy with plush traditional furnishing.Going around was easy as its close to all the sights, Breakfast is good served in a small room. Our stay at the Palazzo Sant'Angelo was a memorable one.
This was our third stay at the Palazzo Sant'Angelo in the past five years so you can see that we really like it. On this trip we stayed for 6 days in mid-October, 2017. The room was excellent as usual: well appointed, comfortable, spacious. The staff is friendly and helpful in all ways and they treat you as though you are part of "their family". When we arrived there was a bottle of chilled Prosecco and a tray of goodies waiting for us as I had told them we were in Venice to celebrate our 51st anniversary. The hotel is perfectly situated along the Grand Canal, and it is only 50 yards from the Sant'Angelo vaporetto stop. This makes getting to the hotel from the train station or the airport very easy. The Ali Laguna (public transport to and from Marco Polo airport, take the orange line) stops at this vaporetto station so one can get to and from the airport in almost the same time it takes if one uses a water taxi but the cost is only 25% of taxi fare. There is a traghetto stop (gondola that just goes back and forth cross the Grand Canal for only one Euro) around the corner. The hotel is within easy walking distance of virtually everything in Venice and, if you get tired, there's readily available public transportation to bring you right back to the hotel's doorstep. The breakfast at the hotel is quite good and the service provided by Houria, Sania and Andriano is warm, personal and excellent. The breakfast room is small but there's always a nice table waiting for you. The food is good, the choices varied and the staff is always there to fill any request. The front desk staff is excellent. They are all extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Both Marcos (there are two fine gentlemen named Marco) will give you excellent restaurant recommendations. Fendy and Barbara are friendly, efficient, have sparkling eyes that tell you they are smart and there to help you. Both will give you great directions. Umberto is reliable and very dependable while Manuela, who works in the office, makes sure everything is in perfect order. Most of the staff has been there for years and they are like a family...to you and to each other. Credit here goes to Nicola Cernison who manages the hotel. He has built a first class operation and we have had the pleasure of knowing him for the past five years. When you get back to the hotel after a long day in the city (we walk between 5 and 10 miles per day visiting the main Biennale sites, the various satellite exhibitions and other museums), there are staff members waiting to greet you with a kind smile that tells you they are happy you are staying at "their" hotel. The little bar off the lobby is delightful and the perfect spot for a quiet drink before you head out to dinner. They provide free hors d'oeuvres from 5 to 8pm as an accompaniment to their drinks. The bar attendant, Bobby, makes the best Spritz (Aperol or Compari) in Venice. It is fun to chat with him, listen to the quiet jazz that he plays, relax and watch the boats go by on the canal. There are some terrific restaurants close by: try "a beccafico" on Campo Francesco Morosini; "Aqua Pazza" on Campo S. Angelo and Trattoria & Bacaro Da Fiore all within easy walking distance of the hotel. Risorante LaFeluca and Ristorante Da Mario all Fava are not too far from the hotel. They are really excellent and very popular spots with the local population. You will definitely need a reservation if you want to eat at 8:00 or later...which we do. And, if you love gelato like us, give "Igloo" on the street that connects Campo S. Angelo to Campo Mannin a try. We think it's the best gelato in the city. We plan on returning to the Sant'Angelo in 2019 for the next Biennale. Maybe we'll see you!
We'd never been to Venice before but I guess what you really want is something with a view, old world charm and close to all the sights you want to see, things you want to do. The Palazzo Sant Angelo ticks all these boxes. Fronting the Grand Canal and a circuitous 10 min walk from both San Marco Piazza and the Rialto bridge. Sumptuously decorated and comfortable. No dining facilities but a small breakfast room which reminded me of the dining car of the Orient Express.
A hotel of real character situated in the heart of Venice on the Grand Canal. Our room, laid out as a suite was spotless and very comfortable. The staff were all very smart and helpful and the only reason that this review is not a five star one is that there is no provision for evening dining within the hotel. Also the breakfast arrangements were somewhat cramped. Otherwise a memorable experience.
The hotel is perfectly situated and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is spacious but # 37 has a problem the AC leaking . They tried to fix it everyone of the 3 nights we stayed we had a trash can on a towel to catch the drips. I think the problem was present before we arrived because when we arrived there was a perfumery fragrance in the room to disguise the smell of mildew. That night I had a sore throats and left Venice with a terrible sinus infection. There was a complementary Champagne bottle in the room when we arrived which was very much appreciated .
We wanted our hotel in Venice to be ON the Grand Canal and to have a water landing so we wouldn't have to haul luggage over steps. Turns out those requirements led to a wonderful stay. We arrived from our overnight flight early and our suite wasn't ready. So we sat outside at one of their small tables right on the Canal and soaked up our first experience of Venice. One small drink later and our suite was ready. The suite was huge! The bath was all marble and glass. The wall coverings just screamed Venice. It was great! It was luxurious! It was just what we hoped. The staff could not have been more accommodating. They arranged for tours, water taxis and restaurant reservations. The breakfast every morning was substantial and good. Only a few steps away from a vaporetto stop. Minutes to St Mark's Square. This place is not cheap. But you won't find a hotel on the Grand Canal that is. If what you're looking for is the flavor of Venice, this is a great place to stay.
We spent our first three nights of our 2 week Italy vacation here. Just what we imagined an Venetian hotel would be. Charming, spotless, comfortable, convenient, excellent service! Situated on the Grand Canal, the hotel offers all the comforts of home, including spacious room and bathroom and nice sitting lounge with bar service overlooking Canal. A glorious start to our dream vacation.
Our first visit to Venice was fabulous and our stay at Sina Palazzo Sant' Angelo complimented our once in a lifetime experience. We were greeted warmly by all staff, and everyone we spoke to seemed to have worked here for years. Staff were proud of the hotel and great service was reflected in their "go out of their way" attitudes. Our spacious and beautifully appointed room had two huge windows that opened out to a perfectly tended garden of lush trees, flowers and peaceful statuaries. We had hoped for canal view, but with only four such rooms already taken we were pleased, and in fact loved the location even more. The bathroom was enormous compared with other hotels we stayed at in Italy, and upscale with fluffy towels, robes and marble sink and tub areas. A word about the jacuzzi tub: after a hot day touring I refreshed in the glorious bath. Unfortunately, though my washcloth was sucked into an air vent! The gentleman at the desk came to see what happened, which resulted in the jets stopping. He was professional and ever so kind, taking the responsibility entirely. He was only sorry that it couldn't be repaired until Monday. Very impressive service!! The room was cool and comfortable, and breakfast was good. The bar service, and excellent with delectable appetizers offered after 4:00pm. Fantastic location, within easy walking distance of great restaurants, shopping and sites. We would definitely stay here again!
We stayed here for three nights as part of our tour through Italy. The hotel is comfortable, spotless and well appointed - right next to the boat drop-off point so you don't have to drag your suitcase miles through the alleys to your hotel. We were upgraded and had a spacious, beautiful room for which we were very grateful. Only the rooms at the very front have "THE" view - the Grand Canal - but we were one room back and could see it at an angle! Reception staff were always courteous and helpful, smart and friendly. Our room was clean and the lovely bathroom topped up with such gorgeous complimentary toiletries I could hardly tear myself away from the bath! Breakfast downstairs each morning was good - the usual continental fayre and plenty of it. One of the waitresses was particularly smiley and cheerful - the other less so perhaps but you don't know what goes on in other people's lives, do you. We wished the hotel had a dining room because after a long day walking miles, sometimes it would have been nice not to have to go out to eat in the evening. There is a restaurant in another of their hotels but it is a boat ride away and to be honest we couldn't be bothered. There are so many other places nearby - and a tip is, explore the back streets, the food is excellent and you don't get ripped off. But I digress ..... would we stay here again? Oh yes, absolutely. It's a fine hotel with good old fashioned standards and in a very good position. We may stay forever !
This was a wonderful hotel to stay at and it was within walking distance of everything in Venice. The staff was nice but their recommendations were not as helpful as other hotels. It was kind of fun that you receive a real key that you drop off at the front desk when you leave.
