this has got to be the worst place ever. they charged me $296.00 for two night stay because of alabama game on sept 8, 2018. booked room on line and made a big mistake. when we got there at 11 pm and saw room we had no where to go at that time so we stayed the night with the chair holding the front door as it didn't close properly, rusty water came out of the vanity sink so we didn't brush our teeth, very nasty, very nasty. thank god I got a room at caps the next morning for about 20.00 more per night. im sorry but I could not leave fast enough the next morning. I had to give this place 1 star but it does not rate even a 1/2 star. when we first got there I told my wife I was sorry for getting us a room that must rent by the hour as this was the WORST place we have ever stayed in my 60 years of life. just looked on line and found out the average rate here on a no game day is about 45 dollars. what a rip off during game time. when you see a price of over 100.00 a night you think its a nice place...…..WRONG … WONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE … FROM FAIRHOPE ALABAMA … JUST ME
This hotel is overall pretty clean but the staff are rude pushy unhelpful and stingy with towels etc. just overall should not stay here when there are much newer nicer hotels for $15 or more less per night if the rooms were in the $4o range I could see putting up with the rude staff but for what they charge now I recommend you go to Howard Johnson’s or Centerstone or Laquita jus my opinion
Very dirty, the sink didn't have pipe, water went right on floor. Plastic on the mattress. Management didn't show any concern about broken sink. Had to visit CVS to buy cleaning supplies as we were on town for football game and didn't have any other options.
We paid well over a hundred dollars to reserve a room here fo one night during UA parents weekend. It was so nasty we didn't even spend the night. We were also hit up in parking lot by some dude for money. What a rip off!
grimy, duck tape on mattress, holes in shower walls and not cheap, not sure if $100+ is the usual rate or that a ballgame or hurricane added to the price. There are other reasonably priced hotels in the area don't waste your money on this dump. Paid for three days left after one night lost the money but my husband was getting sick.
coming from texas to Birmingham working the hurricaines I booked a non smoking room for 59 per night. upon arrival the young lady confirmed my non smoking room and charged me 161 dollars. exhausted I paid over the agreed price. I walked into the most filthy and disgusting room with unchanged stained bed sheets and no hot water. it was drenched with smoke residual and the floors were covered with a black smut. I went to cancel and the little hot headed owner told me he would cancel the second night but my charge for the one night would be 100 dollars. I left as he cursed me out the door and he kept my 161 dollars and refused to cancel the second night because I called his room filthy. this is the first rating I have not given a 5 star. if there was a negative score id give that. I have contacted the Alabama attorney general and will pursue evey ave I can to close this place down
I rented one night in anticipation of staying for a week for this job renting two rooms. the refrigerator had crumbs in it and the shelves were laying on the bottom so I asked the operator to clean it up for me and he did although he did seem a little reluctant. later as I was leaving I noted there was fresh urine on the toilet seat so I stopped in and asked his wife if they could clean it up while I was stepping out for dinner. Before I could leave as I was sitting in my car the operator approached me and in a rude manner said look our housekeeper is gone for the day so tough luck! he turned and walked away as I began to say something to him He simply flipped me the bird over his shoulder as he walked away. He was too high and mighty to clean the toilet and too stupid to offer me another room. This place should not only not be a two star it should not be a one star.
Hotel is outdated, overpriced, and has a "grimy" feel. The toilet paper had not been replaced before our stay, and we ran out in one night. The shampoo had not been replaced, and was 2/3 full. The air conditioning unit was so loud, we could not run it at night. The walls were so thin, we could hear movement from guests 3 doors down. Did not sleep well, and was afraid to walk on the floor or in the shower barefoot. The manager was totally unwilling to work with our changed circumstances, and then would not honor a price change. The hotel had reduced room rates by over $100 right before our stay, but would not allow us to benefit. They simply told us that rates change every day, and we were not lucky. They also seemed to fall back on the "you booked with expedia" excuse, however, my multiple conversations with expedia made clear that the hotel had the discretion to cancel without penalty, honor rate changes, etc., but that they were simply unwilling to do so. The hotel engages in extreme price gouging (as do all Tuscaloosa hotels on game weekends), but this is not remotely worth it. I would advise traveling a little further outside of town, and saving yourself the money!
Don't expect a lot and you won't be disappointed. The room was clean enough, but smelled very smoky. We were pretty sure we booked as a non-smoking room, but ended up in one. Front desk person was friendly and gave us a can of Fabreeze to help. Beds are fairly uncomfortable and room is poorly maintained (old vinyl shower curtains with holes, paint chipping). Very thin towels. Good that they have hardwood floors instead of carpet. Well lit outside. Did not see any bugs! For a one night stay might do it again during high season.
Have stayed at this motel for several years. Room has always been clean! People are very nice and helpful. For the price this motel is quite good! Never had any problems with people bothering us. Have stayed at places in Tuscaloosa that were a lot worse. Will stay there again!!
