I'm a loyal Marriott customer and typically look for availability at Fairfield Inn properties because of the value for the amenities. After staying at several SpringHill Suites properties in the past year, I have concluded that this is now my preferred choice. The location on Greensboro Avenue in Tuscaloosa has that modern feel I've now come to expect from this brand. If you can make it to the breakfast room / lobby before 9:00 am during the week, it has the typical large selection of breakfast items (with coffee and hot chocolate always available). The staff were friendly and attentive. I didn't use the pool or exercise room but did take a peek for future reference and found them to be small but adequate. The rooms are large and include a living room area partially separated by a glass and wood wall that is the back of a built in desk / work area. The bathroom are narrow and only include a shower but have new and updated fixtures that compare with those I only previously found in much more expensive hotels. The best thing about this hotel is the location. While it is adjacent to a busy roadway (expect some extra traffic noise), it is also within a two minute drive of shopping and dining. There is also a new 16 screen movie theatre about a minute away. I was in town for business on the campus of the University of Alabama and it took me about fifteen minutes to reach my destination during morning rush hour traffic. I will certainly add this to my list of favorites when staying in Tuscaloosa.
The hotel was nice. However I was put on the first floor and the first room had an air conditioner leak with a big fan inside and I was moved to another one. It was better. All the staff was very friendly. The coffee was good and the buffet. The area is near many restaurants and places to eat and stores for shopping. It is in a great location right off the freeway. They have a microwave and small refrigerator in the room. The beds were comfortable. The typical SpringHill Suites layout, very nice.
This Marriott hotel is very consistent with the service and quality found in most any of its family of hotels- which is why we tend to only stay at Marriott hotels. The area around the hotel is pretty condensed, as it sits in kind of a busy area in the city, but the parts that matter the most (service, cleanliness, accessibility) are very well covered.
Used this as an overnight stop while passing through Tuscaloosa. The hotel check in staff were friendly and efficient. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was nice continental style. Would stay here again.
Online, this resort looks like a typical Marriott. In person, the outdoor area is small and hosts the employee smoking area. As my family was trying to enjoy the pool, we were interrupted by the smoke and language of employees. The location is not near amenities, and breakfast was lacking the standard Marriott waffle. Every member in my party was expecting the Marriott waffle and were disappointed. We requested extra towels in the app 5 hours before check in. Four hours after check in when contacted the front desk we were told we could have towels, but had to come to the lobby. I understand the scarcity of the night shift, which is why my requests were well in advance.
We spent night while looking at UA. Comfortable room, beds, etc. A nice amount of space. It was great to have such a spacious closet. Couch and living area was comfy. It is always nice to have the fridge and microwave too. Good breakfast. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We will stay there again
Kim at front desk was amazing! Room cleanliness not so much. When we opened Sofa bed there were tortilla chips all in bed. Mattress pad had multiple stains. There was no flat sheet. After two trips down to front desk we had clean mattress pad and flat sheet. Also sofa and carpet had multiple stains- looked like red wine. Next day went to shower and loved tea tree items unfortunately there was no conditioner. It was completely empty.
I stayed here during a UA tour with my son. It is a typical SpringHill Suites, which was perfect for our needs. While the towels were fresh, the bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned prior to our arrival. Because it was late and we were tired, I did not call or visit the front desk for a new room, but cleaned the bathroom, myself, with Clorox wipes I happened to have in my bag. I will say everything else about our stay was good -- the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel had easy access to campus, and the bed linens had been changed. I am sure the staff would have cleaned the room if I had called to complain...that said, it should have been cleaned before we checked in.
This is such a fabulous, modern hotel they even play fantastic, current music in the comfortable lobby!!! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The room is modern and clean. A real gem in Tuscaloosa!
This was a nice hotel. Check-in was quick. The rooms was clean and the staff was really friendly. Excellent customer service. I loved the bathroom, especially the glass shower. I will definitely stay here again.
