We booked a 5-night stay through Expedia for TownePlace Suites by Marriot in Markham, from Oct 7-12 for our anniversary. Several unpleasant things happened during our stay: -We were placed in Room 1212, directly under the breakfast buffet room. We got a rude awakening at 6:30am when the first dining guest arrived for breakfast. From 6:30-9:30am all we heard were wooden chair legs scraping against the hardwood flooring above our heads. -We asked for a different room, and thankfully there was one. We had to pack up all our things and bring them to the front desk. This put a damper on our tight schedule for the day. -We asked the gentleman assisting us if he could get someone to put our groceries into the fridge (fresh green grapes and apple we purchased the night before). We got back to our new room that evening & we found the fresh fruit… in the freezer?!? The grapes were ruined. -The next early morning around 4am, fire alarm rang and all guests had to evacuate into the cold for almost two hours. After two nights, we have not yet gotten to enjoy a good night’s sleep at this hotel. -The pool was cold. -We checked out at 11am on October 12th. The guy printed out the receipt for us, but said that since we booked with Expedia, the expense should already have been paid with the package. Yesterday I checked our credit card statement. There is a $40 parking charge from TownePlace Suites. I have emailed front desk to dispute this but no response as of Oct 17.

Our room was clean and nice. The entrance of the hotel could have been cleaner. Cigarette butts littered the area. Someone should sweep. I know guests are at fault, but it didn't look good
