Disgusting pit. Trust the bad reviews, I wish we did. The first room assigned was so nasty, I’m still recovering. Bloody fluid stain on bedding, stains on chair, black speckled blood stains on pillowcase, disgusting carpet, hole in wall, filthy floor in bathroom with pubic hair and some kind of skanky orange film. Must credit Liz at front desk, she was great and I could tell embarrassed. She gave us a new room, but that was pretty nasty too. Prison-issue style bedding and towels that I didn’t even want to use to dry my hands.
Then there was the man camp of road construction workers that were wasted drunk inside the hotel and partying on the patio. “MF this, MF that” is all we could hear…plus rudely commenting on the woman in the window above them, who looked genuinely uncomfortable while closing her curtains. Women beware. I was with my husband and our two large dogs (that are not stranger friendly) and I was still very sketched out by these guys. I wouldn’t go out to my car without a dog. Shame on this hotel for allowing this kind of behavior and the lobby bartender who kept pouring for them. They should be reported to their employer. Also, plan on a dirt road drive to get there as most exits are closed/under construction (hence the hotel’s man camp). I would have changed hotels, but pretty much everything is equally crappy. Do yourself a favor, avoid Lawrence all together- but if you’re stuck, sleep in your car or under a bridge before staying at this horrific hole.
