Hotel Monterey La Soeur Ginza

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

We stayed 8 nights here and enjoyed our stay! The rooms are small, as is expected in Tokyo, but they had all the amenities we needed, including a small refrigerator and free bottled water! The hotel staff were all pleasant and helpful.

Saved us time & money explaining JR & subway options. Rooms are comfortable, though not huge. We'll maintained....good location.

Front desk clerks were able to save us time and yen explaining various routes using Tokyo's subway system and JR. Our room was clean & comfortable. Great bed.

Hotel has convenient location with metro station, department stores, and restaurants nearby. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Hotel room is quite small but it's Tokyo. Overall happy with my stay.

The front desk personnel helped me learn how to navigate the Tokyo subway system. The hotel gets five stars for that alone. Small, but clean well furnished rooms. Close to theater, bright lights, & shopping. Good wifi service.

First of all make sure you have the correct hotel room. There is a 5 star Hotel Monterey down the block, this review is for the Hotel Monterey La Soeur Ginza, which is most definitely not 5 star. Hotel rooms in tokyo tend to be small, but the managers chose to stuff this limited space with massive furniture typical of a sprawling days inn in Oklahoma. The consequence is a completely non-functional room with 4 inches of space between the bed on every side, a 2 foot wide hallway, and a bathroom that you can't turn around in. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful but not knowledgeable about the area or general tourism questions (e.g. where can I get a map?). If you get this room at a very cheap price it might be worth it but at 125 a night I wouldn't stay there again.

Like described with many of the other reviewers, the rooms are small, even for a double. Ours was comfortable but unfortunately very stuffy. Hard to get circulating air inside even though they have knee-high ionizer to purify the air. We should have gotten them to open the window. You really need to step out of the way to open up the bathroom door and navigate around your significant other as you get dressed. But you really do get a very convenient location with friendly staff, and there is a stable wi-fi connection so our iPhones and laptops were happy.

I probably would not have found the location on my own, but was fortunate to have my friend take me there. Once there, I realized how closs it was to many of the attractions in the Ginza area. Also, there is another Monterey Hotel nearby called the Monterey Ginza (same chain), so at first it can be confusing. I enjoyed the "American" breakfast in the nice little restaurant downstairs.

Great hotel for a very good price in the heart of Ginza! Just missing Wi-Fi.

our family booked two rooms in this hotel. even though we expected rooms are small, we didn't realize they were SO small before we arrived. the cozy rooms had all facilities needed. service was good. location was great. people at front desk were very helpful and spoke some english. it was very warm inside the room though it's very cold outside. overall we like the hotel. but we may find a larger one in tokyo next time.

I'm used to small hotel rooms in Tokyo but this place was super tiny. The clearance between the edge of the bed and the walls was 18 inches on either side. The front desk people were nice but they did not speak very much English. Also they give you only one (1) key per room even though there were two(2) people in my party.

Great welcome by staff. Most speak a bit of english and will guide you with a map with recommendations or questions about places in the area. The room is quite small but that's to be expected. It's functional. The beds are a bit hard. I slept fine, my friend didn't.
