This is a beautiful property in a historic building about a 3 minute walk from the central market of Old Town. The rooms are decorated in style and have excellent amenities. The restaurant is delicious with creative dishes and a cozy exposed rock setting. Very romantic at dinner time. The less than 5 star rating is because there is no elevator. Of course the staff help with luggage but... Another detraction is the poorly designed tub/shower. Its a high step in and out and narrow. Not much force to the shower as well. The staff are lovely and we enjoyed the proximity to multiple shops, restaurants and historic buildings.
Hotel Schlossle is near the heart of the old town. It's in a very old building, with exposed stone brick, uneven angled walls, and low ceilings in the lobby. We were lead to our room by the exceedingly hospitable staff, including friendly and knowledgeable Roman. Our room had high ceilings, attractive furnishing, and three large windows, two of which had quaint cushioned window seats overlooking a pleasant back courtyard. In the afternoon, after lots of walking and sightseeing, we took advantage of the hotel's lovely sauna facility that can be reserved by individual parties. So far, so good. Unfortunately, when we returned to the room after dinner we found that the air conditioning did not work and the bathroom floor heater could not be shut off. The room was hot and stuffy and impossible to sleep in. Worse, the night staff was sweet but useless -- she kept telling us the AC was working when it clearly was not -- no air was coming out of the vents (let alone cool air) and the room remained hot. Since the hotel could not fin a solution, we made the best of it -- we threw open the windows and got a fan. But that didn't solve the problem because it was a warm night, and it created new problems because the open windows meant the room was bright and noisy, not great for sleeping. To add insult to injury, the rollaway bed for my son kept collapsing in the middle -- he essentially slept in a v-shaped bed. . Unfortunately, despite its charms, a luxury hotel is not a luxury hotel if it can't provide a good night's sleep.
This is the most perfect hotel for your stay in Tallinn. Located in the heart of the Old Town, but on a very quiet street. The service is perfect, the breakfast is perfect and the environment in the hotel is perfect. We loved it and next time we go to Tallinn, well I don't need to search for a hotel any more. This hotel is a must, with a strong recomendation.
We decided to spend a night and day in Tallinn rather than just catch a ferry from Helsinki and spend a few hours in the town. I'm so glad we did for 2 reasons. The first is that the Hotel Schlossle was great and the second was that by spending overnight in Tallinn the crowds were gone by mid to late afternoon back to the ferries and cruise boats. Further, as it was July it didn't start to get dark until 10.30pm so there was still plenty of daylight to enjoy the town without the crowds. Stepping through the medieval city walls into the old town of Tallinn with it's cobblestone streets was like entering into an olde worlde (though a bit hard on the suitcase wheels). Part of that world is the Hotel Schlossle with its beautiful reception area with a huge fireplace and beams, professional and very friendly and efficient staff and a welcoming drink. Our room was just across from the main building, up an internal medieval stone spiral staircase. The room was lovely and quiet with it's period furniture and a very comfortable bed and with a modern bathroom. The breakfast room was downstairs and was really funky with its purple lighting. The Hotel Schlossle has a lovely character and atmosphere. The hotel is also on a quiet street, but still only a few minutes walk to the main square, sights, shops, bars and restaurants. Will definitely stay at the Hotel Schlossle when again in Tallinn
After walking all over Tallinn's wonderful Old Town last time, I'm so glad I stayed at the beautiful Hotel Schlossle this time. You're made to feel like royalty from the moment you arrive in the classiest reception room I've ever seen, full of that classic combination of medieval and modern interior design that's a real stand out. The beds are super comfortable and the price for a leading 5 star hotel was very reasonable, overall a much better deal than the nearby Hotel Telegraaf. Tallinn Old Town is so beautiful with lots of lovely little restaurants and people dressed in traditional costume to give it that authentic touch of Estonian history. The staff where we stayed at Hotel Schlossle were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble, especially tips on where to go and what to see. This is a very, very classy hotel at a very affordable price. Thanks so much from the tall Australian to every one of the Hotel Schlossle staff who made our stay so very perfect.
I would encourage everyone to walk into reception at this Leading Hotel in Tallinn's charming old town to see how beautiful it really is. We have travelled the world, and the combination of beauty and brilliant service is the best we've encountered. You're made to feel so special when the reception staff stand immediately from the front desk when you walk past, on your way to one of the wonderful rooms with historic timber beams and Estonian charm. It is a credit to the wonderful GM Wolfgang that the staff are so professional, because this truly helps Hotel Schlossle stand out from any other hotel we've been to, including other Leading Hotels of the World. You'll want to sit for an hour or so in reception, just taking in everything from the lovely fireplace to the truly beautiful interior with more exposed beams and classic interior design. Thanks again Wolfgang fro making our visit so special.
Had a wonderfully friendly welcome on arrival, with a complimentary glass of bubbly. Got a free upgrade without asking (thank you!). Really quiet. Friendly. Great bed, bathroom, ambience. Can't fault a thing. I will definitely go back to Tallinn, and when I do I will stay in the Schlossle again.
We are currently staying at this wonderful Hotel. We are members of The leading Hotels of The World and are staying here fir 3 nights...we leave tomorrow. This Hotel is amazing...location is the old town....close to everything....a boutique style Hotel with great staff...great breakfast..which is located in their restaurant downstairs..beautifully presented breakfast. We also ate at the Hotel's restaurant, Stenhus, 2 nights out of 3 that we stayed here. Our room is a 1 bedroom suite...stunning...with a huge king bed. Thank you to all the staff ...you have been amazing. Highly recommended
Very spacious rooms with plenty of seating area. Minibar and coffee making facilities. Very comfortable bed and the most comfortable pillows you could imagine. Good size bathroom. Tv has reasonable channel selection. Wifi works well. Breakfast in a very nice setting.Good quality food and reasonable selection. Very friendly staff. Not cheap but top quality.
I don't typically write TripAdvisor reviews, but after our stay in Hotel Schlossle last week, I HAVE to let fellow travelers know what an incredible stay we had. We weren't sure about the location when we booked online, having never been to Tallinn and only having a tourist map to guide us, but it was on a perfect, quiet street, only a few blocks away from the main square and a quick ten minute walk from the Harbour. Upon arrival, we had complimentary welcome drinks on the back terrace, an adorable space which reminded me of something you would see in an Italian villa with its stone and ivy on the trellises. The menu for the restaurant also looked quite good, although (like most places in Tallinn) not necessarily vegetarian-friendly. Our room was incredibly comfortable and clean, kept at a nice temperature, and with a lovely shower that was much appreciated after a long week of travel around Estonia. And finally, my reason for writing the review, is that the service was EXCELLENT. The hotel employees were so kind and helpful, which was much appreciated by two complete foreigners who speak only English and were already travel-weary upon check-in. From the front desk employees to the waitresses at the restaurant, it was such a lovely experience.
