I had booked a room where there should have been a bottle of sparkling wine, rose and some chocolate waiting for us - a romantic room, however, there were not. Oh, what a disappointment. After informing it to the receptionist, it was fixed and they were brought in our room later on, however, the 'moment' had gone then already. But, we enjoyed them later on and tried to put back the first disappointment. The room was elegant with black and white colors, bathroom just like new and bed really comfortable. Very clean room. We had a view to the Hirvepark (Deer Park) and also saw one old castle. Nice. The room was on the third floor and it was quiet. The location is good - only about 10-minute walk away from the old town and f.ex. the Presidential Palace Breakfast was good - not fabulous but there were fruits, berries, vegetables, scrambled & boiled eggs, bacon, sausages, bread etc. so we were satisfied with that. We have visited in various hotels in Tallinn and this certainly was one of the best.
First impressions of a hotel is check in...... we were told we had a standard room booked but should upgrade to an executive room with private sauna or a standard executive room as our room was at the front of the hotel and was very noisy so we wouldn't sleep well, also the heating didn't work properly, the room was either too hot or freezing!!! I've been offered upgrades for an extra cost before but never like that. We opted to keep to our rebooked room. It was quite adequate and clean room 408 , you could hear a littl traffic but it wasn't bad and I don't think the thermostat worked but the temperature was fine. Breakfast was satisfactory but nothing more. The staff were not particularly friendly , just a smile goes a long way. The hotel location was perfect , only 10mins max to the old town.
Small, modern, clean, comfortable & friendly hotel with easy walking to the old town. Breakfast was of limited choice, but sufficient and good quality. Could not fault the place, especially at the price.
For city centre access and good admission standards, you can't go wrong with this hotel. Good choice but not cheap. Stayed here while on business in Tallinn and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very easy to get astound from the Hotel. Restaurant was good but it lacks a proper bar.
Situated on the south side of the old town of Tallinn, L'Ermitage is a modern looking hotel with nice rooms and common areas. Not quite the advertised 4 star feeling, but close. It's a shame then that the service in the hotel was a major letdown for us that nearly ruined our vacation in Tallinn. Service was inattentive and even after clear mistakes there were no apologies, no sympathy for the customer. We gave up trying and were happy that it was just for one night - a night we spent hungry because after waiting 1,5 hours for our room service order, we called to find out that it was cancelled without any reason given, and without any notification to us - the worst example of the service level we received. Again, no apology from the staff. Afterwards, we complained to the hotel about the issues, and got prompt apologies (though no explanations for the room service case) - but that doesn't change the fact we checked out feeling relieved that it was over.
The rooms looking directly onto the streets are quite noisy. We were asked a credit car number for the mini bar deposit before anything else, and the best thing was that we could not find any mini-bar in our room, not even a kettle to have tea. The bathroom looked like it came straight from the 70s. The breakfast was not fantastic, not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. However, the room was clean.
The hotel is located next to one of the busiest roads in the city centre of Tallinn so take that in mind when booking or ask for a room to the quieter side of the building. It is located only a short (5 minutes) walk from the Parliament and the Old Town. The hotel itself is nothing special. The standard room looked worn out and the bathroom did not meet the standards you would usually have when staying at a 4 star hotel. However, the room seemed clean otherwise. The breakfast is something I would recommend to skip. The presentation was uninspiring and sloppy. Worst of all is probably the staff at the reception. We had to check in with the guy behind the counter being on the phone all the time not saying anything really instead handing us the registration leaflets and room keys. Only thing he asked was whether we were interested to upgrade for an additional fee. The hotel prides itself with the good reviews on different websites but one has to wonder where these reviews come from...
We stayed here on a pre Christmas visit to Tallinn and it was just what we wanted. An easy £10 taxi trip from the airport, the hotel was clean, comfortable and well located being an easy ten minute walk from the cathedrals on Toompea Hill and fifteen from the Town Square. The room was compact but quiet despite being toward the street although far too hot for me with no way of turning the heating down. Breakfast was good although we did not eat in the restaurant in the evening such was the range of choices nearby. There is very limited lobby space and it can get very crowded but there is a great range of bars and places to eat a few metres away and you won't have come to Tallinn to spend your time in a hotel lobby
My husband and I stayed at the L'ermitage in Tallinn only for 2 nights as part of a package including the ferry to Helsinki. The hotel is lovely and cosy (We had to sleep with the window open it was so warm!). Staff were courteous and efficient. Food in the Katz bistro was fabulous! So beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Reception Staff gave us a local map and directions to the town hall square which seemed quite convoluted but actually it was really easy to find. Tallinn itself is absolutely beautiful! Definitely worth a good wander. The hotel has 3 eating places just in the corner. We tried the hot dog place and they were sooo tasty! But there was another brewery restaurant next door that served lots of food so plenty of choice. All in all a comfortable stay and a beautiful city.
Spent a delightful 3 nights here in a standard room on B and B basis. The hotel is ideally situated on the edge of the old town and an easy taxi ride from the airport. Our room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of choice and the staff were friendly and very helpful. There was great coffee available at reception, an excellent restaurant across the road and a superb indoor market up the road just behind the train station which is well worth a visit. An excellent stay in an excellent hotel
