We took a short, one-night trip to Tallinn as many times before. We've also stayed at Tallink Express Hotel before, which is to say that we really like the place. If you're looking for something luxurious, this is not your hotel, but if you're looking for a place where everything works and the price is right, then you should stay here. The location for ferry travellers is just perfect, as the hotel is situated very close to the ferry terminals A and D. Also, we were traveling by car and the hotel offers a free parking, which is already great, but what made it even better was that we could leave our car parked in their parking lot for few hours after checking out, also for free, which is a huge bonus. One corner of the Old Town is a five-minute walk away from the hotel, from where it's easy to wonder along the beautiful cobblestone streets of old Tallinn. The hotel itself is nice and clean and the staff is friendly and professional. Our room and also the lobby were comfortable and quite fresh-looking with the bright green color used around the hotel. There's a free wi-fi available around the hotel. We didn't need any passwords to access it, which we found a bit worrying, but used it anyway and without any trouble. Breakfast was included in the very affordable price of the room and it was more than satisfactory. The only thing that was missing was bacon, but they had everything else from breads and cold cuts and cheese, to breakfast cereals and porridge, and sausages and scrambled eggs. We did not leave hungry. All in all, our stay at the Tallink Express Hotel was very enjoyable.
This was an amazing stay. We were looking for a budget hotel close to the ferry terminal for a one night stay. This was the perfect place. It was a short walk from Terminal D where we came in from Helsinki, if you cannot walk, I am sure a taxi could take you there in a few minutes. The rooms were large-which surprised us for a budget hotel. It was clean, simple, yet on the chic side. The bathroom was also on the larger side for a European hotel. It was quiet as well. The Old Town is a short 5 minute walk away. Breakfast was ample with a multitude of choices. If you cannot find something to eat here, then you are the one with the problem. The staff was efficient, amazingly friendly, welcoming and helpful. There is a locked luggage room where you can store your bags on check out if you have another ferry later in the day like we did. We would highly recommend this place and would stay here again in a second.
Hotels in Tallinn can be quite expensive seen against that background this hotel offers good value for money. It's located on the edge of the port district very close to Ferry Terminal A and literally ten minutes walk from the terminus of Line #2 the airport bus. You'll get from the airport terminal to the terminus in under half and hour for the very reasonable fare of €2. Also you're just ten minutes walk from the old town. The hotel building itself is basic and modern and is on a side street behind the more expensive hotels that are in the area. Across the road from the hotel is a large indoor market where there is also a pharmacy and shops. On the other side of the car park is a filling station and shop that also does take away food. The lobby is clean and modern with plenty of seating, a PC and also a fridge with sandwiches, wraps and cool drinks which can be paid for at reception. Check in was fast and the staff polite. The bedroom had basic furnishings but was very clean, had a brand new tv, and wifi is free and fast, the room is finished in a pleasing light green colour. The bed was comfortable but they should really offer two pillows, the one provided was quite skimpy, although to be fair there was no problem asking for an extra one. There is no room safe but reception are happy to allocate one in the area beside the reception desk.. The lack of air con is a problem, with temperatures at 23C on arrival the room was very hot. While the window tilts and opens fully, it can be noisy outside particularly in the morning while tour buses load and unload from the adjacent car park. By the way the car park is free for hotel guests. While the main road is some distance away there is traffic noise, so it's Hobson's Choice. It rarely gets completely dark at this time of the year so the black out blinds were a big help. The breakfast room is large and spotlessly clean, staff were constantly cleaning and replenishing the food. There is plenty of choice with juice, tea, coffee, yogurts, cereals, salads for our continental cousins(!) and for people from Ireland and the UK who like a cooked breakfast there was scrambled egg, boiled eggs, hash browns, sausages and a toaster! All in all good value for money, try to get a room away from the car park and main road.
Just returned from my weekend in Tallinn. The hotel's location was great in a quiet neighborhood. Parking was free, and the staff was helpful. The rooms were quite clean & tidy, but a huge setback was the fact that there were no A/C, which meant the only ventilation u get is by opening the window which didnt help on a warm day / night. Breakfast was ok, there were plenty of everything available. For me, the lack of A/C is the reason I won't be going here anymore, but still, 3/5.
Good value, great location as it is the final stop on the route from the airport bus and as it is located at the port it's also perfect for a day trip to Helsinki. Approx. 5 min walk to Old Town (recent reviewer here said it was a 'boring walk' - disagree!!! Same reviewer said there was no healthy choices for breakfast so take that with a pinch of salt too!) Love a healthy breakfast and weren't disappointed - big bowl of fresh melon, pineapple and oranges. Also salads, fish, pickles, rice cakes, crackers, yogurts and cereals, scrambled eggs, porridge. And for those not watching their diets there are plenty of sausages, blinis, breads, cheese etc. Set us up for the day. rooms were bright and clean and comfortable. Decent bathroom as well. Perfect wifi everywhere. Our only, only complaint, if you can call it that, was that at this time of the year it doesn't really get dark outside! In the bedroom there are only very thin curtains so it is bright all night long and we found it difficult to sleep! Great to experience the midnight sun, but blackout curtains would have meant more rest! Recommend overall.
Boring and not centrally located hotel. Rooms OK, but nothing more. Bathroom smelled a little of sewer. Breakfast lacking healthy choiches. Scrambled eggs were made of prefabrication. 15 minutes boring walk to centre of Tallinn. Wi-fi is free.
Like already said it is right next to port. Which is a plus if you need port, but is minus since hotel was full of teens running down the corridors and slamming the doors. Staff did not really care about it. Since hotel is just next to road leading from the port again it can become very loud when bunch of cars drive in midnight on it. A lastly, again being next to port lots of groups arriving/departing by bus can stay there meaning buses will warm up their engines at 7 am just under your window. These were minuses on positive side, hotel offer nice, clean and decent rooms. Comfortable bed, good breakfast, free Wi-Fi. It is some 10-15 min walk from old city
This hotel turned out to be a perfect pick in terms of location! It is within 5-10 minutes walking distance from both the Old Town and the ferry terminal. Our room was pretty big and even had a sofa bed for an additional person, and yet the main bed had very little room on either side for each person to get in. There were no nightstands which would have been useful to plug in things. Breakfast was adequate, the scrambled eggs were watery but at least there was a variety of other things to choose from. Overall our experience was pleasant and comfortable.
Good value for money, close to downtown, free parking, quiet room all the essentials are there if you need just quiet place stay down for one night. Rooms are clean , although there is need some refurbishment maybe.
I spent four nights here on business primarily due to very little availability of hotels in Tallinn due to me booking late and over a weekend. Top Tip: If you are going to stay a weekend in Tallinn you better book early as I think half of Finland and Sweden empties to fill Tallinn, Estonia. Expect normal prices to double and triple during the weekend. That aside, Tallink despite being booked last minute proved to be a nice little hotel. The rooms are very basic and Ikeaish (But then again I like Ikea, so not a bad thing) was decently sized had good wifi for me and good selection of TV Channels. Location: Nicely located to the old town and you can't do Tallinn without doing the old town. This is a must and has turned into one of my favorite city centers anywhere. The Hotel: o Good check in and out, o Customer service was good for a busy hotel; liked the restaurant a lot. They have a great hamburger. o The Lobby was cozy and clean. o Bathroom and room could have been cleaned a bit better but it was not bad. I think the cleaners must be overwhelmed from the weekend business and the craziness that cheap booze and cheap rooms attracts to other higher priced Nordic countries. o Proximity to stuff: Again, five minute walk to Old Town and this is a must Shopping is literally steps away and modern European brands can be had within 10 minute walk. I had work collegues stay in their sister hotel next door (spa and wellness Tallink) and they said they actually liked the Express better for its bar/restaurant and common areas. All in all, I can recommend it and if I needed a room on the weekend I would give this one a look.
