Location was close to many shops, restaurants and entertainment. Our room was lovely with an unexpectedly great view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Loved the selection of teas and coffee machine in the room!
Great room, the location was perfect, just a walk away from Kings Station!
The area has many restaurants very close walking distance and night life. The hotel is NOT in the "Red Light" district.
Definitely trying to please, excellent central location.
Very nice room; super-close to Kings Cross, which is good if that's exactly where you want to be, and not great if it's not (Kings Cross is sort of the party district).
The best hotel ever. Good for singles to get around the city and night life.
The good: The hotel is located in an area that let me explore Sydney on foot for days! The Opera House parks, warfs, and harbors were less than a 30 minute walk. I caught the hop-on/hop-off bus a block away from the front door of the hotel and figured out how close everything is. The staff was super friendly and helpful. All the common areas were clean and very modern (in a good way). The bad: There was a bit of noise from the streets due to the active nightlife in that location, but it did not hinder my sleep. The rooms are not well insulated, so if you are a light sleeper, look elsewhere. The shower design was not well thought out, so after a shower the entire bathroom floor was soaked with water spilling onto the carpeting. The Ugly: The black decor probably looked pretty slick when it was put in, but after some abuse, it shows every nick and scrape. This of course can be resolved with a black sharpie pen, but it did not appear that anyone put too much thought into the upkeep. The darkness of the room was a bit dreary, but also made for easy sleeping in the morning. There was neon green paint spilled on the black carpeting, which reminded me to wear my flip-flops(thongs) in the room... Given the conditions of the room, I think I could have found a better deal in the area. Fancy shampoo bottles did not offset the beat up furniture, carpeting and the leaky shower. The location was perfect for a first time tourist like me however, so I will consider this hotel again if I get a decent rate...
This hotel might be said by some to be `dated` in decor, but we found it to be unique and not off putting. The location at Kings Cross cant be beat. The staff are friendly and happy to give you advice and help with luggage. It wont knock your socks off, but it wont disappoint, and its an excellent value, unless you want to pay $100 more to be in the financial district.
I really liked this hotel overall. Very cheerful and helpful staff. Hotel well located, everything was just a block or two away, great restaurants, gym, grocery, bars and areas of interest. Hotel is designed, and designer and clean and modern.Loved it. BUT, there were some strange details in the room. Around my flat screen tv, there was an exposed area with all the wires exposed and narly. It was so odd to look at this for 9 nites, wondering how did the designer of the interiors let that happen? why had they let that detail slide? it Baffled me the entire trip. It doesnt help that I work in design, so details are EVERYTHING to me and my eye. So the interior designer gets a FAIL letter F for design which brings my rating down to 4 out of 5 stars. My room was comfy. Quite at nite. Bed was perfect. had free internet which was a surprise. but I guess I paid for it. The hotel is not cheap, but nothing is in Sydney. I was suprised the hotel didnt have a bar and restaurant. That would have made it perfect. There were a lot of interesting people I saw coming in and out and I met one of them at a bar one nite, and I would have liked to have met some of the other guests in the hotel since I was traveling alone. Another con is the apartment building across the street. Full of peepers and if I can see straight into their apartments and see what they are cooking for dinner, they can see my every moment. If you are into it, leave your curtains drawn..very nosy peepers peep... One of my favorite trips ever in my life in the end. Great city. Everyone looked healthy and happy.
The staffs are friendly. The hotel itself is close to everything. Be aware of safety issues as this hotel is located in one of the most notorious areas in Sydney according to my tour book (the other area is the redfern district). The room was torn and could be significantly cleaner. Won't stay there again for the next time. It is not a hotel for families or couples. It is more suitable for guys looking for paid romance in the kings cross area.
From the moment we walked in the front door and until we left, we were very happy with everything about the Diamant. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and had everything we needed, there were plenty of good restaurants nearby, the neighborhood was lively and felt safe, and we would absolutely recommend the Diamant to anyone wanting a great Sydney experience.
Nice room good location
This hotel treated us like royalty. Not only were we upgraded but every need we had was answered, solved, and taken care of instantly. The staff was young and fantastic - caring, motivated and reliable. Each day they gave fantastic recommendations and friendly advice... it was by far the BEST experience we have ever had a hotel. You are foolish not to stay here!
Friendly staff. Free internet in lobby, but don't catch signal in room on 5th floor. Good location next to subway station. Not too long, but not short walk to parks and Opera House, etc. Watch out for strip clubs and hookers nearby. Somewhat shady area, but nothing to worry about. Bad lighting in rooms. They have a "trendy" version of dark colors and low lighting.
Good location for sightseeing. 6 parking spots, need to be reserved in advance. Closest parking for us was $10 cab ride and $65/night. On day 3 they let us park in one of the 6 spots. Recommend cab/subway; rent a car after you leave Sydney. Room small but comfortable. Very friendly staff.
Good hotel. Great rooms. Recently renovated it appears. Pictures don't lie, rooms are big.
Fairly decent hotel. When I initially checked in there was an issue with the hotel cable system. The management apologized and offered all guests free internet during their stay. It was painfully slow but good to have considering most hotels in the city charge for internet usage. Furnishings were nice but you could tell they went through a lot of wear. Located near King's Cross (red light district) but I didn't hear that much noise from the crowds. Although I wasn't able to use it I think it would be nice to know that the hotel does not have its own gym but has a deal with the local gym right around the corner for guests to use free of charge. Staff was very nice and always tried their best to help me with my needs. Room service only starts after 6pm so if you stay in during the day and try to get lunch you are better off taking a walk to one of the nearby cafes. Overall a good but not great experience.
The hotel is very clean, nicely decorated and is in a great location for walking to Sydney, Potts Point, Darlinghurst and many of the beautiful bays. Taxis and public transportation is easily available, as well as, great restaurants, ATMs and convenience stores all in close proximity. We used the Internet which was $20 per 2 days. It was very quick and reliable. The hotel staff was very helpful and highly responsive. We stayed 7 nights and are doing 6 more in 3 weeks. I would highly recommend this property especially when taking into consideration price for value received.
Location good - close to subway station and within walhing distance to City. Rooms clean and comfortable but rooms and floors are not well-lit. Location is not suitable for families as hotel and subway staion are close to strip club area of Kings Cross.
