Courtyard by Marriott Sydney-North Ryde4.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is only a couple hundred meters from the Macquarie Park train station, so it is not terribly inconvenient to go to downtown Sydney--about 40 minutes to Central. The room is large and somewhat stylish; unfortunately, the style--particularly the bathroom's style--comes at the expense of substance. Each time you want to flush the toilet, you will need to move the toilet lid since the button for flushing is behind and completely covered by the lid. The bathroom door swings across the space usually reserved for stepping out of the shower. I guess the bathroom designer never heard of sliding door especially since the bathroom is tiny compared to the rest of the room??? And the soap/shampoo basket in the shower has a large opening that the little bottles like to roll through and skydive to the floor. Fortunately, the staff are friendly and the service is good. The breakfast buffet was okay, but exactly the same every single day. By the fourth day, I had to get my breakfast somewhere else. How many days in a row can one eat hash brown, baked tomatoes, mushroom, bacon, sausage, and beans? I did love the panna cotta from their restaurant's dessert menu. That I could eat every day.
I thought treating my wife to a short get away since she was visiting Sydney and this hotel was my ideal choice. Away from the city it was peaceful and comfortable. The staff were very friendly Varun and Raul both very passionate about their job and extremely accommodating even though it was late in the evening. Nice touch by Varun to send a bottle of wine.. keep it up..
Room was very nice, recently renovated, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice as well. The best thing about this hotel is front desk staff. They are very professional and helpful! The hotel is bit far from city center, so the most easier and cheaper way is to use train. Train station is just across the street.
This was a drop-in, drop-out stay, but I think I will be staying there again if I have to be around the area again. Very clean. Very comfortable beds. Full mini-bar (just add some Red Bull, and you will be perfect). Extremely respectful, genuinely friendly service. No hassles. Food on premises. Good coffee. Close to Macquarie Shopping Centre. The only difficulty for people who are slightly less mobile is the bathtub. Deep (as it should be) but difficult to get out of, and no walk-in shower option. Otherwise, no complaints!
Rooms are clean and comfortable. That's all I could ask for on a business trip! Staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay again for business. Good location also which helps when you need to get around a lot.
This hotel is located about 15KM north of Sydney CBD. A nice suburb in Macquarie Park, a relatively new business centre. So good if your business meeting is around the area. Very quiet at night so you can get have a good sleep here. Breakfast is very nice with good spread. Non smoking hotel, which is what I preferred.
The location was great, easy to get to various shopping locations. The buffet breakfast was amazing, especially for the kids. Room was nice and tidy. Parking was a bit of an issue especially when you have to pay for it. Put it all in to perspective and it was a good experience, we'll be back.
We booked 2 rooms which included free parking and a bottle of wine which was a lovely surprise. The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our rooms on the whole were fairly spacious however I had my children in their own room and putting the third bed in the room meant space was limited in the end my daughter opted to sleep on the couch that being said we probably should have had a 3rd room to accomdate my grown up children. Overall this was a very positive experience and ideal for attending my son's gradutation at his Uni. Would definitely return.
I originally selected this location due to its proximity to my meeting location 1.5kms away. My disappointment started on my first morning at the hotel when the hotel staff refused to provide shuttle service to my meeting location 1.5kms away stating it was too far and would take too long (Strike 1). On previous trips the local Holiday Inn shuttle service which is further away insisted on driving me every morning and even offered to pick me up after my meetings. My second disappointment came when I discovered a half empty bottle of beer in the mini bar. I immediately informed the front desk staff as I didn't want to be charged for it. That half empty bottle of beer remained in the mini bar for the entire week. The maids even reorganized the fridge but didn't remove the beer. (Strike 2) Then I was shocked to find out they charge $30.00 per day if you want breakfast buffet. This is absolutely ridiculous, I decided on the cheaper option of $12 for egg on toast and $4 for coffee. FYI the local Holiday Inn includes breakfast. (Strike 3) I travel a LOT for business and stay at many hotels. I consider myself a loyal Marriott customer but can't find ANY reason to return to this location. Value for money just ISN'T there!
I haven't stayed here for a while, so my recent trip was quite a surprise when I stayed on the 7th floor in a recently renovated room. The room itself felt so big, clean and spacious, a great improvement on the old rooms. As always, the service and food is good and the courtesy bus is brilliant. Checkout is always challenging on a Friday morning as everyone tries to leave at the same time!
