Lovely accommodation hotel with excellent service and friendly hotel staff. I spent 5 nights in this small hotel which is located near the Ashfield Train Station in Sydney. The rooms are small but clean. The breakfast is included in the price and it really saved me a lots time before I stated to work every morning. I can also prepare my own favorite meal by using the full kitchen facilities. The parking place is limited and I had to park my car in the closed small street and I took me several minutes to find a place. It is a normal problem in towns, but the 10-minutes-walking to train station gave me more convenience to reach the downtown. I love this hotel and will recommend it to all budget saving travelers.
Second visit to this hotel in 6 months. Still the best value for money hotel around Sydney, especially as the rates include breakfast. The manager in charge is always willing to help you, and despite the fact that we arrived at the hotel by 12 noon, one bedroom was ready, (the other not quite) so we were able to leave all our luggage in that room before heading to visit Sydney. the train station is 10 minutes away at walking pace. I would certainly recommend this hotel.
My name is Terry B. In a former life in sales, I saw a lot of Australian hotel rooms, many of which were taken of necessity and seldom rebooked. I was lucky enough to be recommended by my sister to Ashfield Manor. and am indebted to her for it, I live almost 4 hours from Sydney in semi-retirement, still called back to work as a tourdriver/guide occasionally. Since my first stay I have returned 4 times to this delightful BandB and truthfully feel it is like a second home. Hosts Robert and Marguerite are ever-welcoming and obliging in every way. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed with every consideration to a weary traveller's needs, facilities abound such as an excellent laundry, a comfy lounge with the daily papers and magazines, well-equipped kitchen to satisfy the most fussy chef and a satisfying selection offered each morning for breakfast.Public transport to and from the city at the door, rail nearby. Wholeheartedly recommended!!
There are 37 rooms and 3 parking places only, on the street between 6 and 10 am it is forbidden to parking there. The internet access is limited. The restaurant is takes place on the ground floor and you must wash the dishes for yourself. From 5 am till 10 pm lots of people are moving in and out of the hotel, so the rooms on the ground floor is very noisy. Next to the hotel, a motel is situated there and from this place trucks are leaving at dawn. The staff are very knob. The Booking website does not control the real services of the hotel, does it work on the other hotels like here?
If you want a tiny super clean quiet and cheep accommodation in Sydney then book in Ashfield Manor Hotel. Only 10min walk from Ashfield metro station and around the area lot and variety of restaurants. Jennifer is great and helpfull person. I spend 6 amazing days
amazing super clean place, a home away from Home with fantastic facilities and inventories; friendly, helpful and forthcoming staff; even a comprehensive library, choice of five or six daily newspapers to read, outstanding choice and variety of breakfast.....all for a great prize! The Location of Ashfield Manor Sydney is terrific, but when we arrived (No Car parks at accommodation only have enough room 3 car spaces) we got told to park Van out on the road no one bothered to tell us it was clear way?? Waked up the following morning to find Van had been Towed away & relocated in street behind accommodation. No mention from receptionist when I made the booking that car space & parking was limited to 3 car parks. Very disappointed. Dean M
Although the property and rooms were clean and the staff very friendly, this is more a back-packer style accommodation with shared facilities. It is not really suitable for business use or families. It does provide ready access to Sydney and limited parking is available on site.
The Location of Ashfield Manor Sydney is terrific, walking distance from Ashfield and Summer Hill. You'd be better off staying at one of the other two motels on the same block though, in order to avoid the rude staff at Ashfield Manor. The owner especially has taken a page out of Basil Fawlty’s book when it comes to customer service. Upon arrival the wifi was out of order due to a big storm. Fair enough, that can happen, so we waited a day for it to be fixed. The next day the staff still seemed in no hurry to fix the wifi, and seemed to use the storm as an convenient excuse to not repair it anytime soon. As I had to work online while travelling I got a bit worried, but Jen at reception told me to "just go out and buy yourself a few hours" - which they were not going to reimburse me for. After ringing Booking.com their customer service desk offered to move us to a different property, but we decided to give Ashfield Manor Sydney another shot. The next time Jen at reception saw me she was cranky at me that I rang Booking.com, and assured me that this wasn't going to get the wifi fixed any quicker - eventhough it was suddenly fixed straight away. The day before checking out the hot water was out while I was trying to take a shower. After having my cold shower I enquired at the reception, which was my encounter with the owner. Instead of saying "Oh, sorry for that, we should have let you known", his response at me having a cold shower was "Well it was only out for five or ten minutes". Nice, thanks. Our last night the wifi login wasn’t working anymore and as reception was closed we had to purchase a $10 plan to use the internet for work purposes. Upon checkout the next day I enquired with the owner about having these $10 refunded and he laughed at me. He explained the wifi is “Compuhmentary” (he was obviously excited he knew such a difficult word eventhough he didn’t get it right) and therefore I couldn’t get anything reimbursed because I wasn’t paying for it. Well that’s a nice reply to get after having just spent over a thousand dollars there for 8 nights of accommodation. After asking what was wrong with the wifi he admitted the password was reset the day before and no one bothered to tell us, yet he still refused to pay back the ten dollars. Ashfield Manor Sydney could be an awesome place if it would be run by the right people. The owner’s wife is doing her best but her husband sounds, talks and looks like a tradie and should probably go back to construction or whatever it was he did before he thought he could run a hotel, just so that he doesn’t have to deal with customers anymore. I do feel sorry for the friendly Asian cleaning lady, having experienced firsthand how they treat their customers I don’t even want to know how they treat their staff.
I stayed in the Ashfield Manor Hotel for 5 days. The staff were really friendly, helpful, and very informative for tourist services and events. My check in was late, but I didn't have any problems with accommodation at night time. Everything was ready for my coming. I had single room with shared bathroom and toilet, but I didn't have to wait for using bath/t. My room was cleaned up everyday. I've got for 3 towels plus shampoo/conditioner and soap. The breakfast was the same everyday, but we had some different options for choose- tea/coffee/milk, different kind of bread, honey, etc. The Hotel has the library and small patio. It's pleasure to read and relax in the evenings. Also, it's possible to use internet near kitchen, and wifi in my room. It was quiet to sleep at nights. The Hotel is between two train stations, about 10min to any. It was the great place for staying in Sydney.
