Although you had to pay for wifi most of the time it was not connected

The hotel was only 3 star. It did not have reliable internet. Only a few plug ins and none right near the bed for my husbands CPAP machine. It seemed kinda worn out. That being said the location was wonderful and it suited us nicely. The price was also the best near that location.

Does not offer free Wifi as advertised. It's 15$ a day! Smells awful. Dirty. Location is nice until you start walking to the Kings Cross station. You are literally in the red light district. Have no idea how this is a 3 star hotel!

Constant noise from elevator and airshaft. Not a good night's sleep. If you manage to avoid the airshaft, you might have a better experience.

For the price, I was expecting it to be a bit nicer but, for Sydney, it is not a terrible value. King's Cross is not an area suitable for a family, but as an individual traveler, it is fine. My room was comfortable and clean and good enough, but it was an average experience, overall.

This place is nothing overly luxurious, it has everything you need but just dont expect anything fancy. The place has that old hotel smell that we know all too well. Though at least the staff are friendly and the room sizes are decent.

staff more than helpful, go out of there way, helping with bags . internet, ect. price good value and hotel near all shops, stayed there 5 times already, would recommend.

My wife and I booked our vacation in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia during an extremely busy period. In spite of all the hotels throughout the city being saturated with Rotarians traveling to the 2014 Rotary International Conventions which include the DeVere Hotel we were fortunate to find a suite there. Initially we were a bit hesitant because the hotel was only at the level of a 3 star and had preferred a 4 or 5 star hotel, but eventually we confirmed our booking and hoped for the best. Upon arrival we were attended promptly, but with a slight delay. Apparently during the booking with the travel company an error was made and it went undetected by us until days before traveling, long after the period to make changes without penalty. We explained the situation to the front desk clerk who referred us to the Manager who listened to our situation (the travel company did not take into account our travel period and the difference the time change. They booked the first day of accommodation to start on the same day we left our country, but our arrival was not until two days later and they booked our departure from the hotel a day earlier). Without confusion the Manager made the adjustment. Not being able to give a refund of caused, but instead he gave us a voucher for a breakfast buffet for the total time of our stay and adjusted the date of our departure without penalty. Our stay at the hotel was very accommodating and we totally enjoyed our time there. The room was very clean and the room service was extremely efficient. When the maid see the do not disturb sign on the door she would put a note under the door to ensure that we know she was there and to let the front desk know if we left the sign on in error. This was followed up with call from room service. The hotel have a dining room on the fifth level that serves a generous breakfast buffet which we found to be very tasty and delicious. The hotel also have a restaurant for fine dining on the ground floor level which serves dinner daily. The hotel is situated with in walking distance to everything. For example: the shops, restaurants, parks, museums, tours, the train station is along one of the city's common bus routes which includes several different buses. Car rental is almost not ever needed. The busses and trains are very efficient and reliable. The upkeep of the hotel is great and I think it's with in accordance with a three star hotel. The security level at the hotel and throughout the city is very high. CCTV cameras are everywhere and the police station is less than five minutes walking distance away. We felt safe while walking everywhere we went. The things I did not like about the hotel was the internet was not free and I think it was very expensive at a rate of about $15.00 per day or $4.00 per hour. I would recommend that the hotel highlight the cost for the breakfast buffet and dinner(min. Cost) on their website to ensure guest do not mistakenly think it's included. This would allow guest to budget for meals in advance. I think the internet cost should be reduced and they should allow to accommodate more than one device connected at a time (a minimum of 2).

Bad, sad, mad! - Surprise, had to pay $25 per night parking, Website said room had wireless, but hotel told me "O your room doesnt have a good signal, you'll have to pay $15 more per night for internet in another room." Located in the heart of the RED LIGHT DISTRICT luring all the distasteful folks around. Noisy and nasty. Furniture looked like it was picked from curb side rubbish heap. Folks there not too friendly either - waiter sat me at a table and I waited over 20 min until suprisingly noted "did you order" and the manager couldn't care less. Enjoy your holiday at another hotel.

although the hotel is in the heart of Sydney, there are a few issues that would prevent me from going there again. The room is so small that you could touch both walls with your hands at the same time! No free internet at all. the elevator doesn't take you to your floor exactly (the arrangement is somewhat weird). The staff is fine.

This hotel rooms are very small and Toilet like aircraft model also.

Overall great value. The hotel is in a great location and the staff was very pleasant. Rooms were just average. My only complaint is that the hotel doesn't offer free wifi.

Yes, the hotel is old, but it could have used a thorough cleaning. My sheets had holes in them, and the walls clearly had areas that left much to be desired. The staff were all very lovely, the hotel it located in a great area, with easy access to trains, and Sydney Opera House etc. It was a little dangerous that I had to stand on a chair to turn on the air con...

I was diappointed in this hotel for the price I paid and even more so knowing what it was worth before I paid only half price. The pictrues of the acomidation did NOT match. style, outside scenery picts. and although I know it said "contenetal breakfast available" WHO would pay 12 dollars for cereal and a piece of fruit that looked like it had been sitting around a long while. The room was and hallways around were plastered with signs saying no smoking. But he room and hallways smelled musty. My sheets on the tiny twin beds were strachy (clean white) but not comfortable by what i thought 3 star standards would be. Plus it had a wooled blanket that looked like it was from 1970. The TV was literally mounted as close to the ceiling as possible. which made watching uncomfortable unless you were laying on the bed flat, staring up at the ceiling. I think to spend so much and then be told that WIFI costs sooooo much was insane. that was the main reason i stayed at this hotel. instead I just used there computer but stil had to pay 4 dollars an hour. ticked me off. This was supposed to be my first place to relax after a 19 hour journey in a squished airplane. I chose to really only sleep cause when ever i came back to my room i would get annoyed i was paying so much and getting so little. The sights from the window i had was NOTHING. the window was tempered plastic so it was opake could not see through it if i tried but since light only came in through the first 4 inches I think it looked at the wall of another building. The only nice view i found while there was in the Public Bathroom on the 5th floor of the hotel. To top it off although there are signs saying it was a nonsmoking hotel the hallway and room were musty and smelled as if a 60 year old smoker with a wet dog had lived there. I will NOT ever go back to that hotel. I stayed in 2 hostels and 1 motel and 1 other 3 star hotel while i was in Australia and all were much better than this place.

Staff was courteous and helpful. There is a bus stand outside the hotel, which avoids having to go to Kings Cross station.

The hotel was easy to find on a small but lively street. Plenty of late night bars and cafes for the 20-30's traveller. Only 5 min walk to the tube station or 15 minutes to walk to the heart of the city. The staff was friendly and helpful,(free storage for my bike). The room was simple and quiet (no view to inner court). Spacious bathroom with a surprise adjacent kitchenette. I felt it was good value overall.

A/C was on 24/7 but barely cooled the room. Staff excellent, and friendly. Clean. Well worth the price, and nearby to everything. Maybe a mile from the Red Light District which was good. Don't need THEM in front of my hotel.

Hotel is well located with access to public transportation very easy to go anywhere in downtown Sydney. Hotel is a little old with a few stairs to go up and down if you carry heavy luggage. Room was basic but confortable. It had a small kitchen and everything was very clean. Grocery stores very close by. I would stay there once again.

Never been to a hotel that doesn't even provide Kleenex. Bed was small and uncomfortable. Staff acted like robots, not real friendly.

Good hotel, good price, free wifi, close to king's cross. No major issues.
