Mercure Farnham Bush Hotel

3.0 out of 5.0

The Rooms are very small, the bathroom is tiny and not vented with no room for anything. The Walls are paper thin and the wireless signal in rooms is intermittent. Decor is drab, poorly constructed and maintained. Bed is large, staff are polite and helpful. Overal, ok for a single person overnighter but uncomfortable for a couple or longer stay

We held our family reunion at the hotel last weekend which included a Saturday night dinner and DJ and Sunday lunch. Most guest stayed in the hotel so we had breakfast, dinner and lunch. The quality of the food especially the dinner was excellent. When you are trying to balance quality and cost for a party of 65-75 guests, the Mercure got this spot on. Throughout the weekend nothing was too much trouble and the staff were always helpful and professional at all times. So yes, when the last minute rush of residents try to get in for breakfast just before it ends, it will get busy and we did have to wait a little for refills, but it was tasty and worth the wait. The hotel does need a bit of decor improvement, but I can't fault the staff, quality of food and professionalism of all. Would recommend and return. Thank you.

The hotel is well located in the centre of Farnham. Good free car parking, excellent facilities, room excellent. Staff professional and polite, nothing too much trouble. Decor good, food excellent and well presented. All areas very clean. A good hotel at a fair price. No complaints only good reviews in my opinion. Am going to return Ssoon as enjoyed very much.

Stayed here as we were going to a wedding. It's in a fabulous location, with free parking, close to the town & shops, and near to the train station. The rooms need a bit of updating, at check in we weren't given any information about the hotel, breakfast times, wifi etc, and nothing in the room either, so I had to go back & ask. Breakfast was fine on the Friday morning but on the Saturday was very chaotic, ran out of a lot of things, had to wait for sausages, no fresh fruit, poached eggs over cooked. Was ok, but could have been better.

I'd like to disagree with a lot of other reviews about this place but unfortunately I experienced the sort of issues here as a lot of others. Initially the hotel and grounds look very nice and I thought this was going to be a good stay. The first issue was the amount of litter in the overflow car park. Empty Costa cups and half eaten supermarket sandwiches and their packaging littered the place. I picked a lot of the rubbish and put it in the bin. On entering the hotel the reception area look old and tatty. Checked into the hotel for one night and was told the room would be ready at 14:00 which was the official check in time. Returned at 14:00 only to find a queue of people at reception waiting to get into their rooms. The female receptionist said that there was a backlog of people waiting and that the rooms would be ready in about 10 minutes. A lot of people were moaning about this. About 40 minutes later the room was ready. This is totally unacceptable, when you book a room with a hotel you make a contract with the hotel and if they say the check in time is 14:00 then unless they meet that time they have broken the contract with you. The female receptionist was also getting distracted and trying to deal with several guests at the same time due to the fact the male working with her (the manager) didn't appear to be competent when dealing with guest requests. The room itself was also very noisy. Shouting in the night from the street and a couple of men turning up in the room next door at 05:00 talking at the top of their voices. You could hear every word they were saying hence a rubbish nights sleep. The room was very clean though and tidy though. There was also loads of black bin bags full of rubbish wherever you looked. In the corridors, by the bar, in the lounge - not great. The bar and lounge area also lacked any atmosphere whatsoever and hence were completed deserted most of the time.

This hotel needs new carpeting, painting, a good cleaning and renovations of rooms that appear not to have been reworked for too many years and too many guests. Long overdue! Granted there are newer areas, but even the two different sections we experienced (after a room change) needed in the first, a total overhaul, and second, a very good cleaning, especially the carpets.

Not all reviews good for this hotel, but so close to where I needed to be for a course, I decided to risk it! Bad start when arriving at room ( probably one of the furthest from reception) my key didn't work, back to reception to get it sorted, member of staff noticed I walked slowly, (have arthritis in knee and had been driving for over 3 hours) and asked if I would prefer a ground floor room, didn't want to be awkward so declined. Went out later and again key did not work, this time I was told that I would be moved! 2nd room was ground floor with lovely patio area, weather great so spent 3 evenings enjoying!, I can't fault the staff, even had a complimentary drink voucher! Rooms a little dark, but had a really nice relaxing stay

We paid to stay here, and it turned out that there was a wedding party in the room below us. The music was so loud and it was impossible to sleep, we were told no other rooms were available, but then we're offered a sub standard room which was boiling and had no air con. The staff at front desk were far from helpful and said they couldn't do anything and that I would need to take it up with reception in the morning. The most disgusting hotel service I have ever experienced

Good service; all handled promptly and with grace . Checking in / out is not terribly efficient despite the online check-in process. I have stayed in other Mercures (e.g. London Bridge) where the process was frictionless. Rooms show signs of usage (ok it is a 3* hotel) & frustratingly close to being a really charming hotel with a little extra care. Breakfast is adequate. The air conditioning / heating option is not present in all rooms (privilege standard only) and central heating is off for the summer. Free parking behind the hotel is available and very useful.

As a regular visitor, I have tried over the summer months to get a bar lunch that reflects the price charged and the standard that you would expect of a hotel. Other visitors have now resorted to bringing their own sandwiches from Subway in order to up the standard. This hotel really needs to buck up its ideas.
