This small and very well located hotel is in the very pleasant village of Farnham where there are lots of restaurants and bars. The best part of this hotel is the bfast. The employees at bfast are great, always greet you with a great smile, specially Helen and Chloé.
I had my wedding at the bush hotel on 11th February 2017. I first met sue in 2015 and from then on it had been such an honour to have our wedding reception at the hotel. Sue, the managers and every staff member I met were such a great help. I had quite a lot of different decoration ideas (diy mainly) and sue was very supporting and accepting throughout she liked to hear about them and let me loose (almost 😄) the food was amazing from start to finish and the evening buffet was just as good. We had a lot of guests staying at the hotel and with 1 minor problem with a guest hearing the ventilation overhead everyone else was very pleasantly pleased with there room. The whole hotel has so much character and history it is lovely to have still in 2017. I would recommend this hotel not only for a short break but for functions such as a wedding. I know I won't be forgetting how perfect and smooth my big day went. we enjoyed our stay so much that we also stayed at the hotel for our first wedding anniversary. met with a bottle of chilling prosecco in our wedding room we had another enjoyable stay and tasty breakfast the morning after. Thanks to sue, the managers, the staff and chef and his team. You are a brilliant bunch of people xx
Having run hotels myself I do not usually give reviews as I know how hard it is to run a successful one. However I feel compelled to share my thoughts. Check in was polite and friendly. Hotel is looking a bit tired with worn carpets but that would not normally bother me. My main complaint is that I had the worst night's sleep (or lack of) that I can remember. The mattress was the most uncomfortable that I have ever experienced in my life. I would have pointed this out on checkout but was not asked. Well located hotel. Only 1 Shampoo & 1 body wash & milk for tea was off (curdled in cup). All in all not worth the £68 I paid & will not return.
This hotel offers a very basic standard of accommodation for the price. The accommodation is tired and in need of repair / refreshing. The saving grace is the breakfast which was of a good standard and delivered promptly. There are cheaper chain hotels offering a better standard nearby.
We needed somewhere to bed down for a night. The hotel fitted the bill with a reasonable rate for B&B. Check in was civil though not overly welcoming. The room was dated. One of the light bulbs in the bedroom had blown. The sink in bathroom had a crack and the shower old fashioned. However the shower worked perfectly adequately. The bed was comfortable and being at the end of a corridor was pleasantly quiet. Breakfast was predominantly hot/cold buffet, though a few dishes were cooked to order eg eggs benedict. As somewhere to crash for the night at a fair price it was fine. I don’t think I’d stay for longer though
Vintage converted building with lots of history. As with many of these places, the floorboards creak a lot, but the rooms, breakfast and very comfy beds more than make up for that. There are stories of the place being haunted, but was unable to find the room number of "the white maid" who mostly appears to couples on their honeymoon :o Breakfast was really good, staff were amazing, friendly, large dining room with great selection of self-service hot and cold items and pastries :D
Great location for wedding guests at Farnham castle as only a 2 min drive easy to catch a cab from , Found that the hotel is in need of updating as old decor and hard mattresses made a terrible nights sleep.
I booked in last night the room was clean although very tired looking . The noise from the creaking floorboards in the corridor outside my room was so loud. A pigeon outside my window kept me up most if the night. The breakfast was dire rubber bacon congealed scrambled eggs . The staff were very friendly but the reception staff lacked friendliness. When I settled my bill I wasn't asked if my stay was pleasant not a Thankyou or a goodbye . I certainly wouldn't stay here again in fact I found the hotel overall 3rd rate .
Was ok manager and staff were brilliant can’t say enough but air con in room rattled all night even when it was supposed to be off and whoever was in the room next door snores so loudly but that’s not the hotels fault x
I have issues only with the fact that I am thankful that the Manager has changed, Attempted to send a direct message to the new Manager but no way on Mercure website. I recently cancelled a 2 night booking and wanted to explain why. Have stayed many times as has my staff. Hopefully New Manager will stop the decline in services, cleanliness and general attitude.
