We had a graduation in Cottage Grove and stayed here. Bed was very comfortable and clean. Complimentary breakfast was fine. Really liked the toiletries. Elevator was slow, but we used the stairs a lot. Pool looked nice but we didn't get a chance to use it.
This was our hotel of choice for all of our out of town guests for our daughter's wedding. From the coordinator Lesley to the weekend desk supervisor I cannot thank them enough for making us feel welcome and important. We had concerns as to how to transport our out of town guests to the reception and back to the hotel and Lesley set up an transport service using Uber. We were asked if we minded being the first to use this for all our guests and eagerly said yes. There was only one small wait for a set of our guests and everyone was transported to and from with ease. We utilized the executive suite as our "hospitality room" for our guests to relax between and after events and was not disappointed. Any and all worries we had were set at ease and have nothing but gratitude for how we were treated inclusive of all our guests. Even when the elevator went down for about an hour the front desk was very accommodating. Weekend supervisor Sandra was exceptional and took great care of all our guests and their needs. We even had the opportunity to meet the owner of the hotel Omar who was very welcoming and remembered us on the several occasions we had interactions. He even bought us a beverage as we were enjoying happy hour and relaxing the day before our events started. No one has ever been so personable. If you even get a chance to select this hotel pleas do, they are all over the top wonderful! The hotel was recently refurbished in the motif known to South St. Paul. It is adorable. Gwen and Mark
Recently refurbished, clean, well managed, comfortable hotel in an industrial neighborhood. Helpful and friendly staff. Concord Street provides easy access to events, attractions, and fine dining in St. Paul. Twin Cities airport is a short ride away.
I gave 4 stars (would have done 5) only because the hotel itself is not handicap friendly just the room was. It made it difficult to enter the hotel and pool area. But the room was handicap friendly once inside as well as the pool itself.
A great place to stay! It looks like it might be a repurposed hotel of a different brand, but they've done a good job of turning it into a unique experience. The décor is definitely not what you'd find at the typical chain, and it was very well executed! The breakfast area is set off quite a way from the lobby and it takes a little stroll to get to it, but then you're isolated from the front desk traffic. They have an extensive bar (if you're into that) and an outdoor seating area. Plus, an indoor pool. We highly recommend a stay here if you're in the South St Paul area!
This hotel has doubled down on interior design. The whole experience was fun and whimsical. The whole hotel is themed to early 1900's stock yards. My room had wallpaper of an old map of St Paul. There was an old fashioned clock and phone in my room. All the lightbulbs were old fashioned, it was just really fun. It broke up the monotony of most hotels. My only complaint was that the floor was sticky in my room in a few areas in the entry way and carpet. I never appreciate a sticky floor in my room, too many possibilities.
Hotel was clean and staff was friendly.. Morning breakfast had a great selection of hot foods. Affordable and great design. The hotel had a cosmopolitan feel when I stepped inside. Rooms had the charm of Grain City.. Will return soon. I have been there with and without my small child and it was a great location both times.
I don't care how my hotel is decorated as long as it's clean, well maintained and the staff are friendly and efficient. This hotel was all of the above. Now there's nothing close to the hotel so walking to restaurants or shop is not an option. But it's only a short drive to the twin cities. The hotel itself was just what we needed. We stayed two nights while on business traveling across country. We needed good sleep and that's what we got. The air conditioning worked which is huge for me. I can't sleep without noise or if it's hot. They have tubs! Yes, an actual tub where you can set down your toiletries when you shower not those annoying glass showers that leak everywhere with no shelves. They also use Bigelow products which is an extra bonus. The rooms were really clean, no weird smells or stains anywhere. The bed was comfortable and we each got two pillows, not one. We ate and had some drinks at the restaurant located in the hotel "Against The Grain" I believe it was called, and the food was delicious. The pricing was more than fair for hotel fare. The bartender was really nice and fast. Jessica was pretty much the only staff member we interacted with and she was delightful, friendly and efficient. She gave us some tips on places to go and the biggest thing she was really nice and held a conversation with a member of a group who can be really hard to talk to. Very polite and professional. Thank you!! We never woke up early enough to catch the breakfasts but I went down one morning to get juice. The food looked delicious. I'd say this was a great place to stay if you're not traveling by foot. It's quiet and clean.
I LOVE this hotel! The staff was so friendly when we arrived and when had questions. The decor throughout is fabulous-check out the front desk! We all enjoyed the attached bar and restaurant-we live Pam! Our kids loved the pool too. We were there just one night before heading to the airport; but we plan to go back for a weekend.
I love the antique look and how they have old clocks, phone, etc. Modern old fashion, really nice decor. The bed is comfortable, mostly clean room, a few spots that are dirty though. Very loud, sounds like other guest slamming doors, and could hear the traffic very clearly. The breakfast was very good. The lotion, shampoo, etc was a very nice brand. Absolutely loved the robes in the rooms, wanted to buy one but they charge $110!!!!! Nice but not that nice. All employees was very nice and friendly.
