Welcome to the Lavinia Garden Escape, an antebellum apartment in the heart of Savannah, Georgia. Built in 1844, this cozy ground-level apartment is overflowing with historical details and has a charming courtyard. Conveniently located in one of the most desired areas in the Landmark Historic District, this one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment is the perfect home base for your Savannah stay. You will be within walking distance of the city’s famous squares, historic mansions, and boutiques.

The Space:
Beautiful 1844 garden apartment on a quiet street in the Landmark Historic District.

The Lavinia Low House (1844) garden apartment has all the modern conveniences but retains its antebellum charm. Central heating and air-conditioning throughout.

Entire unit: 4 guests; 1 bedroom; 2 beds, one of which is a new queen sofa bed; the other, a queen-sized bed. Kitchen and bathroom and use of garden courtyard.

There is a non-functioning fireplace.

Living and dining room, fully-equipped kitchen, and bathroom. The kitchen has a large refrigerator, blender, mixer, toaster, coffee maker, and other kitchen basics, plus a clothes washer and dryer.

The living room has a flat-screen TV with cable and Apple TV. The property has fast WiFi throughout.

Guest Access:
Guests will have full access to the lower apartment on the ground floor of the house. There is a shared gate entrance to the lower apartments, but a separate door entrance to this specific apartment.

There is rear access to the courtyard that is a shared space with the upstairs neighbors.

There is metered street parking available surrounding the apartment and also a city garage just a short walk (a couple blocks) away. Street parking can be paid through the ParkSavannah app and is free 5pm - 8am and free on Saturdays and Sundays.

Street sweepers do come through at night and you will want to check the street signs to see when to avoid any tickets.

Other Things to Note:
The rental is located in the heart of downtown, yet on a more residential street. There are some city noises such as trash trucks, ship horns, sirens, trains and vehicle traffic that you may not be accustomed to.

Guests should also know that rental is just the lower level of the house. The upstairs house is also a rental. The courtyard is shared with the guests in the garden apartment below. As this is an old house, you might hear the neighbors from time to time.

The host notified us the day of our arrival with the passcoded for the gate and the door to the unit. Pressing one of the keys was hard to do, so I would like to see that repaired. We had planned on 3 guest, but it ended up just being my husband and myself so we did not use the fold out couch, so I cannot speak to the comfort of addtional bed. The queen bed was very comfortable with adequate blankets and very nice pillows. Large closet with hangers was much appreciates as we were in town for a wedding and needed to hang up dress clothes. The location was very good. It was in the heart of the histroic district. We were out late a couple of nights and the neighborhood felt very safe. Savannah Coffee Roasters was just a couple of blocks away for a nice breakfast, and Bull Street is a five minute walk to restaurants and shops. We would definately stay again.

The location was perfect! The beautiful neighborhood was just minutes from the free DOT bus route that we used consistently to get around downtown. The home had all the charm of a house built in 1854. We had a small hiccup when locking up and the owner called us with assistance to our questions immediately. We loved the historic charm!
