We arrived after a long flight from the UK and this hotel was perfectly located near the airport. Breakfast of gallo pinto was great. Room was very spacious with a balcony. Staff were helpful with organising us a taxi. It is a charming Costa Rican hotel and nice to stay somewhere near the airport with a bit of character. We would stay here again.

We stayed at the Hotel Trapp Family Country Inn recently for two nights. We had a 7 AM flight on and wanted to see San Jose's museums before left Costa Rica. We did not know what to expect from a hotel very close to a large airport and Hotel Trapp Family Inn exceeded our expectations. I read the previous reviews and my wife and I completely agree with the review of Burnell V entitled "Just Right", so I'll just repeat it: "Just right for a place to stay when flying in and out of Costa Rica. Very close to the airport but the park-like grounds make it feel like a tropical resort. Beautiful garden with an open air dining room and very good food. Staff pleasant and helpful. Rooms spacious and clean. Will certainly recommend to friends and book again next time we go to Costa Rica. Even though it is in a busy neighbor hood there is a creek running along side the property that drowns out the noise. The jets taking off are a blessedly infrequent and only momentary cacophony."

We booked this for the night we arrived in Costa Rica. Online reservation was simple and effective and we were met at the Airport by their representative and taken to the hotel (free taxi). The hotel is in lovely grounds, very clean and good sized room with balcony. They have a simple dinner menu and breakfast was very good. I would definitely recommend.

we stayed there one night, more than enough! pool is not usable (birds that pooh in it all the time), sheets on beds very dirty and old, room was very dark and stinky, no safe, no coffee machine or kettle, TV like from last century, breakfast was no choice and we just got some toast, a plate with rice, scrambled eggs, 1/2 slice pineapple und 3 slices of banana - that‘s it! had dinner too - for what you get extremely overpriced and small portions! Its right beside the airport and when an airplane starts you think you get grilled... there is no love or engagement for the place! staff was nice and helpful.

This place was just what I was looking for — a quiet, beautiful and relaxing place to unwind for a few nights after flying into San José. I love the style of the rooms and their large size, the private patio overlooking the pool and gardens, and the spacious veranda where meals are served and where there are many patio sofa sets for relaxing. Most of all I love the setting. You turn off a very busy road onto a long bamboo lined entry drive and almost magically you are in a more gracious time and place. An expansive lawn lies beyond the gate with enormous hundred year old trees, a lush garden and lovely colonial style architecture. The planes flying over were definitely something I heard, but the noise was not roaring or in any way offensive. And the food was delicious. We ate two dinners and a lunch here and were quite pleased with the choices, quality and price. If you are looking for a modern hotel and must have AC, this is not the place for you. But if you appreciate getting off a plane and a very short while later relaxing in what feels like an old colonial estate, all at a very reasonable price, then this is the place for you.

Stayed the night with a plan to leave early and catch a 6:55 am flight. The place is empty yet they put me upstairs. There are 3 turns on the large staircase to navigate with luggage. There is no elevator. The rooms don’t have AC. There are no windows but there is a balcony with doors however no screams and lots of insects! As if all this isn’t bad enough, the Security told me at check out how displeased he was that I took an uber to the airport. The uber driver told me that he has been calling me as Security would not let him in as there is a no Uber policy. Finally when I got out the gate, a taxi blocked our exit. We had to back into the hotel where the taxi and Security talked and joked blocking the exit. Oh yeah, no hot water nor soap either.

Over the years I have stayed in the Trapp Family Inn many times. It has always been a peaceful and refreshing experience. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The beds are comfortable and the accommodations meet and clean with a homey feeling of comfort. The staff are multilingual and attentive. I found breakfast on the porch/veranda looking over the trees and garden to be a great beginning to the day. The dinner menu, while limited provides ample opportunity to chose between pasta plates or meat dishes that are well prepared and tasty. I will continue to visit this "family" inn as I pass through San Jose. Thanks for all you do to make the visit special.

We stayed here for one night at the end of our tour through Costa Rica. The rooms are spacious as well as the bathroom. Everything is clean and neatly. It is in the middle of a suburb of San Jose. You don't get that feeling when you arrive at the reception. It is a peaceful place except for the noise of the planes taking of and landing. It it very close to the airport. So it is a good hotel to start or end your journey through Costa Rica. Had a great last Costa Rican breakfast here.

We landed at 1:30am and came here to rest up before heading to our resort. The hotel is in an urban area, but located off the road behind a gate. When we arrived a man handed us a traditional key and walked us to our room. That was it, no exchange of names, so check in was quick. The room was very old and had no toiletries. The bed was comfortable so we had a decent night of sleep. The breakfast was included and was very good. We found the staff to be friendly.
