Location and friendly staff
Well-preserved, old but classy inn. No restaurant. (The Swedish one on floor 1 is a separate business. Couldn't sign meal over to my room.) Shower head was only 5 feet high, and I am six feet tall. Had to bend to wash hair. In a quiet neighborhood, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Bed and room were classy.

We went here for vacation and this hotel was so fun. Great location and very fancy.
My folks stayed there and absolutely loved it! The staff was super helpful and friendly!
A vintage boutique hotel right beside the SF Ballet building and across the street from the War Memorial Opera House, Herbst Theater and Davies Symphony Hall. Obviously a perfect location for people interested in music and dance events. Not far from the Asian Arts Museum, and SF Jazz Center. The rooms tend towards the small size, so if you are looking for spacious - look elsewhere. Being an older building, the floors and stairs are creaky, and furniture and bathrooms are worn looking, though everything is kept clean and ordered by the housekeeping staff. Generally staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel does not have room service (which can be an issue for some travelers), but a microwave oven and small refrigerator are available in the rooms, and there is an onsite dinner restaurant (good quality) and continental breakfast is served in that same space each morning.
I highly recommend this hotel. They have a neat little Scandinavian restaurant. They are a time-share, too, so it felt more personal. It was nice.
