The South Central Texas Retreat is a very private, serene and peaceful refuge in a small gated community. The 1800sf, 3 bed/2 bath home is situated on a 1 acre lot on the edge of the Texas Hill Country and the Edwards Plateau.
We are a convenient 5-7 minutes away from city amenities. A modest 30 minute drive to downtown attractions of the City of San Antonio or the tubing attractions of Schlitterbahn or the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers.
We are less than a 5 minute drive to the Natural Bridge Caverns/Wildlife Ranch and the Bat Cave Conservatory site.
Fiesta Texas is a modest 30 minute drive and Sea World a 40 minute drive.
Boutique cities of Wimberly, Fredericksburg, Kerrville and Boerne are a 1hr to 1hr and 15 min drive respectively through the scenic Texas Hill Country.
Seasonal Festivities in our area include the San Antonio Rodeo and Livestock Exhibition (Feb), Fiesta (April/SA), NCAA Men’s Final Four (April) Valero Texas Open Golf Tournament (April), Randolph AFB Air Show (May), Wurstfest (Nov/New Braunfels) , Windcrest Festival of Lights (Dec), San Antonio Riverwalk Festival of Lights (Thanksgiving until Christmas) and the Valero AlamoBowl (late Dec) plus many more.

Simple access to the internet by scanning the QR code on the wall of the breakfast area or tent cards throughout. No worry with having the correct password.

San Antonio International Airport is a 30 minute drive and Austin Bergstrom Airport approx 1hr 20 min drive away.

Spring break In Texas Hills

This home was a perfect get-away for us over spring break. WE LOVED our time away. Being close enough to enjoy the Riverwalk of downtown San Antonio but also loved visiting the natural caverns. This place has SO much to offer. We were in town for a basketball tournament and this house had everything for the much needed relaxation that isn’t available at a hotel. The smell of a freshly cleaned house immediately hit us when we walked in. Next we found a sweet welcome note and pastries. The house was stocked with all the necessities needed for our stay. It was a quick drive into town for a bite to eat. If we make it back to San Antonio we will definitely be back. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!!

Great Place to Stay Near San Antonio, Excellent Property Owner

I had an incredible stay at this beautiful home! Nestled in a peaceful, country-like setting yet close to all the amenities and attractions of San Antonio, this home is the perfect blend of serenity and convenience. It’s well-suited for a family or small group, with plenty of space—three comfy bedrooms, including a luxurious king bed in the master suite, and two modern bathrooms.The living area is spacious, and the kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals. The outdoor space, including a deck and porch, was fantastic for relaxing in the evenings.We were also a reasonable drive to attractions like the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, Natural Bridge Caverns, and The DoSeum, a must-visit for families with kids. It’s an amazing children’s museum, filled with interactive exhibits that our kids absolutely loved!Overall, this home exceeded our expectations, offering both comfort and convenience. There is a reason why the reviews on this rental are so high...it is the thoughtfulness of the owner! We were so excited to return to this refuge after a long day of exploring the area. We were amazed at all the little things (and big things) done to make our stay incredibly pleasant. And it's location right between San Antonio and Austin was perfect! Lots to see in the Hill Country, too.

Just Like Home

All the little extras added up to one big pleasant stay. There are too many to list but it felt like home in a different neighborhood! We had an unexpected car issue and the owner jumped into action to help when he was under no obligation to do so. It was much appreciated! As a side note, the decor was inspirational which I’m sure was the reason for my 1st place age division win just down the road at Natural Bridge Caverns! Thanks again from my family to yours.

Quiet neighborhood and well-stocked, clean house

Best Vrbo We’ve Ever Experienced!

We visited San Antonio to attend a conference, and it was also an opportunity to connect with family and dear friends who live in Texas. The layout of the house was perfect for us. We loved the large master suite. The king bed was quite comfortable. Well-stocked kitchen, clean home, ample games and puzzles, clear communication - these were all things we appreciated about this home and the hosts.

Quiet and relaxing

My husband and I came to Texas to explore San Antonio - we had a wonderful stay at The Archers home it was peaceful and relaxing to come back to each day after our adventures. The home had everything we needed to make meals and we loved the snacks and muffins and personalized note we got upon arrival. We arrived after dark and the porch light and a few others were left on which was very helpful and welcoming. The neighborhood is very quiet and we got great sleep and enjoyed sitting on the back patio. Thanks for a great stay!
