my husband is a real history buff, and in planning a trip to san antonio, i came across the menger. so much history and charm at this hotel. close to alamo, river walk, tons of restaurants and bars. had breakfast in the beautiful colonial room 4 out of 5 mornings and it was excellent. drinks in fun, historical bar. rooms are another story. there is no regulating heat or ac. (they give you a little card at check in that basically says that since the hotel so old, hard to control temps) and showers are quite an adventure as water goes from hot to ice cold to hot again every few seconds (recommend taking a bath!). no fridge (guess u can request one?) and horrible coffeemaker (just go to the lobby and get great coffee there). but even with those drawbacks, the staff, food & drink were excellent. had a great stay.

Great Hotel for your next stay in San Antonio! Great food and Staff, try the Mango Ice Cream!

Had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying central San Antonio. Perfect place to stay.

The hotel is located in the center of town making it very convenient to all the local attractions. The big issue is the very present homeless problem. Everywhere you looked there were mostly homeless men walking, lying or sleeping on the street

LOVED this hotel. We got to stay in an original room which was wonderful. Loved all the nostalgia, the friendliest staff ever! The room was very clean, beautiful antiques... just what we were looking for our romantic getaway weekend! The location is ideal, next the the River Walk and the Alamo!! Will definitely stay here again!

We had a delightful stay. The hotel was lovely and convenient to everything. My only complaint - this did not bother my husband - was that I was cold. We were warned about that and I guess there are limits to what a hotel that old and that big can do. It would not, however, stop me from staying there again or from recommending it to others.

Been staying at the Menger for years, but this visit was somewhat mixed. Front balcony overlooking Alamo Plaza is very cool, but if your sleeping preferences lean toward a reasonably dark, quiet room, the nighttime can be challenging. The upper windows are left bare, and the balcony door coverings are paper thin, with the result being a room annoyingly illuminated by the lights of the Plaza. Additionally, there was noise around the entrance right up to the wee hours of the night. The Menger staff, and room comfort and cleanliness are always good here - just be aware if you are assigned a balcony location that you probably won't get much sleep!

If you are looking for a weekend get away, where the staff offers the finest southern hospitality consider staying at the Menger hotel. We visited the hotel over the Halloween weekend and the hotel decorations did not disappoint. Walking through the hotel lobby Michael Jackson thriller can be heard in the background. The hotel offers a centralize location in which you are within 5 minutes walking distance from the Alamo, river walk, la vallita, shopping, and night scene. Some places are like people, some shine and some don't. I guess you can say the Menger Hotel shines. So stay out off room two three seven.

Wonderful aviance staff very nice and accommodating

What a gorgeous room! We were upgraded to a suite that was very lovely and beautiful (Called Devon Castle Suite). Only complaint would be that the shower head needed work since it sprayed all over and got the bathroom floor all wet. Otherwise it was amazing! Large walk in closet, gorgeous sitting room with a great view of the amazing courtyard. The restaurant in the food was outstanding also. The location was in the middle of everything so once we valeted the car we just walked everywhere. We highly recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Menger. So many pictures and the furniture from the past. Large pool and very friendly staff.

Great location right on the river walk. The hotel staff is extremely helpful. Will definitely stay again next time.

Nice room with excellent location in town. Will probably stay here on next visit

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Menger Hotel. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and our rooms was really lovely! The rooms and bathrooms were spotless and that is something I'm a bit of a stickler about. Our bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. We also enjoyed the pool and the lovely setting. I love the location which is close to the Alamo, shopping, and the Riverwalk. We enjoyed our stay very much and plan to return.

Very clean room and bathroom. Great historic hotel. Staff was average. Helpful when asked but not overly friendly. Bartenders were great. Special shout out to Jessica. Engaging and friendly. Make sure she makes your drink. Great location next to Alamo. Did not see any ghosts so that was disappointing. :) I will stay here again for sure...

The water in the shower was either really hot or really cold. The plumbing is really old and does not work well. It takes forever for the valet to get your car. The printer in the business center does not work, so you cannot print your boarding pass.

. We have stayed several times at the Menger several years ago. Everything was just as nice like it was before.

We were treated like royalty as soon as we walked in the door. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was upgraded without even asking and they brought us a welcome basket with fruit as a thank you for choosing their hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for several reason. The location is absolutely perfect it's right next door to the Alamo, and within very close walking to the riverwalk (across the street), also the city bus tours are right here at the corner of the hotel. The hotel charges a $28 a day fee for your vehicle but that was a small price to pay considering parking is so limited in the riverwalk area. We did feel the Menger Bar was a little pricey for drinks but considering it's an historical site it was worth one drink just for the experience. There's so much history and beauty with this hotel and you should't be disappointed with your stay. Enjoy!!

We enjoyed the room, the pool, and the dinner and ghost tour with our grand kids. We had a great time!
