This Hotel is very good rooms and the reception people were very nice and friendly people. Its little far away from metro station i.e arround 1+ kms from Metro station so need to get the bus to the metro.

Although we usually see a hotel as a place where we will just go to sleep while we are on this type of vacation, truth is that a hotel must make you feel like at home (after all that is where we will go after a busy and trying day of walking around the city). Hotel San Giovanni, is a wonderful choice. The room my daughter and I got was roomy and very comfortable. The bed was nice, the pillows soft and fluffy, the AC as cold as you wanted, a tiny fridge, and super soft slippers. Breakfast was abundant and varied; however, after staying there for several days it got kind of boring to see the same exact choices. A little variety would have been nice. Location has its pros and cons, though. It is in a very safe and quiet area, it has several restaurants around it: pizza, Peruvian, and typical Roman cuisine (Romolo e Remo is called; my review on it: I think the reviews are overrated, by the way). In addition, it is very close to many of the places you would probably like to visit, such as Termas de Caracalla, Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and Domus Aurea, for example. The downside: bus 628! The route of bus 628 is awesome because it actually takes you to all the places you want to visit in the city near and far from the San Giovanni, but it takes an eternity to show up. We sometimes spent around 30 minutes (or sometimes more) waiting for it to come, it drove us NUTS! If you don't mind the wait fine... IF you don't like waiting a taxi from lets say Piazza Navona to the hotel was about 12 euros. I strongly recommend the San Giovanni. The staff is kind, the room is clean, the location is good, it is modern, and it is pretty comfortable. Oh, and the price was right!

This hotel looked really well on the pictures. Unfortunately the service is poor, especially at the reception where nobody seems to know why they are even there. Rooms are OK, a bit on the simple side, but not too much to complain. Bathroom is OK. Location is bad. There are no subway stations nearby and don't even think on catching buses in Rome - there are often delayed by more than 30 minutes. I'm glad we only stayed 2 days in this hotel, couldn't take it any longer.

I was in Rome for 4days and Hotel Giovanni was comfortable, the amenities and towels was great. Beds and pillows comfy . I will stay at this hotel again. Its 5 mins from public transportation and staff really helpful, breakfast is great could have been more options but for me it was great

Although not the most convenient hotel for public transport, I highly recommend this hotel. Great front desk staff, friendly and knowledgeable. Location is in a neighbourhood so there are great restaurants with good prices right there. It is also quiet. Great breakfast buffet. About a mile from San Giovanni metro and the basilica.

This hotel has many positives aspects, such as: It is very clean, the breakfast is of a good standard, the staff are all lovely and the rooms are nicely decorated and spacious. However, there are some key aspects, which stop this hotel being a 4 or even 5 stars. Firstly, the location isn’t great - it is a 15/20 minute walk to the nearest metro station-the hotel never claimed it was close to any of the big attractions, however we had to walk to the station every time we wanted to go and see something and this became a bit annoying. Next, the WiFi - it was very good when it worked - however it kept dropping out, which was quite frustrating. Finally, each morning we were woken up before 8 o’clock by the cleaning staff, who left their trolley outside our room and kept coming back to it to collect new sheets etc. Having paid a significant amount of money for the suite, I would have not expected this. Overall, the hotel is nice, but needs to improve in a few areas before I would recommend it (I understand the location of the hotel cannot be improved).

Just got back from this hotel! Absolutely fantastic stay. They have great staff who are always ready to help (and all speak English), great location, great food and great room (spotless). What more could you want!!! We had an amazing trip due to the fact that we chose such a good location and hotel to stay in. Thank you guys.

Newly renovated and clean hotel. Location was ok, and will be even better when the Metro line C is finished. Breakfast was good; enough choices to eat different kind of breakfast every morning (we stayed 4 nights). Unfortunately a smell of mold rises from the drains if you use the fan in the bathroom. Will recommend anyway.

Brand new hotel which has been decorated to a high standard. It is very quiet on a night, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood around 10-15 minutes walk from the colosseum and there is a really nice bakery just round the corner. Would definitely stay here again!

This hotel offers rooms of good quality. Sees to have been renovated recently. However it is located in the southern parts og Rome, while the most attractions like the Vatican City, the Trastevere district (restaurant and bar area), etc. are located in the northern parts. This means that you will have a good 30-45 minutes walk to get there from the hotel. Or about 25-30 min. in a taxi. The breakfast is below average as well. The service is good though.
