We stayed at the Giulio Cesare for a week and we could not have been happier with our stay. Knowing we would be visiting with my brother in law -a priest- near St. Peter's, we booked this hotel based on the recommendation of my sister who stayed here many years ago. While there are many choices closer to the many attractions, we loved the location in a residential area away from the noise and crowds. The rooms, public spaces, breakfast area and garden area are spotless and the staff works hard to make the place shine! Our three rooms were all in the main building and offered high ceilings and seating although the mattresses were quite firm and may not be to everyone's liking. The breakfast was awesome and the staff really go out of their way to please the guests. The bar area is another bonus and a great spot for evening cocktails. While there is no restaurant, there is a bar menu offering sandwiches and snacks. The wifi was a bit spotty at times and there are no irons at all, which became a running joke, but overall, we had a terrific stay. A big thank you to the engaging Emmanuel who kept things lively at the bar, front desk concierge Patrick, who helped with many of our dinner plans (and suffered the most about not having an iron!) and Youseff, who we met on our first night at the bar and the next morning at breakfast. A great locale for exploring the sights in Rome proper and the Vatican.

From the beautiful doors as you walk in, to the charming receptionist, cozy bar with comfy chairs and a piano, to the beautiful rooms, large relaxing garden almost like in Eden.... All was perfect. Oh, I forgot to mention the abundant breakfast with fresh puffy rolls, salads, meats, pastries.... It was so hard not to overeat. I can't wait to stay there again.

Very good hotel , quite and very pleasnt Good breakfast , very estatic . The room is comftable . It`s very close to the Tiber river and to the Vatikan . Friendly staff try to do the best and to help you . a Taxi to the center is 10 ero . very clean , love to stay in the hotel

we stayed at the Guilio Cesare September 19th and 20th. What we really liked is the hotel is in a fairly quiet mostly residential area yet within walking distance to many of the attractions. I believe it took about 10-15 min. to walk to St. Peter's Basilica area. The metro is nearby too. There are many good restaurants within a 3-4 block area that were not stuffed with tourists, rather locals, families and friends. Our room could use a little updating and was a little small. That said it was very nice, the bathroom was highly functional and nice. The breakfast was plentiful with everything from rolls, cheeses, eggs and various coffees. I would return.

We stayed here for two nights prior to a cruise. The location is excellent in my opinion. A ten minute walk to the Vatican, ten minutes to Piazza del Popolo and other sites. Very quiet neighborhood near shopping and restaurants. We had a standard room which was on the smaller side but was clean, well appointed and functional in all regards. We walked form here to many of the sites in Rome including the Coliseum, Roman Forum, Vatican and Trevi Fountain. We will be booking again soon!!

The location is perfect to walk to the Vatican, colosseum, and other sites. You are 5 min max from the metro & close to tons of excellent bars, restaurants & shops. Our room had lots of stairs to get to it so be mindful if you have luggage or bad knees. Two full beds pushed together to make a queen. Not very comfortable & linens & pillows were not soft. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling & water pressure in the shower was so hard it caused an abrasion on my skin. The drains in the bathroom didn't function. Fit certainly has seen better days. Staff were very friend. Unable to get coffee at noon as they were "closed" so I wouldn't say over accommodating.

Stayed here for two nights and it's a lovely hotel, room was massive with a separate living area to the bedroom, all very well presented and with great facilities. The hotel is in a great location very close to the main square and night life. Highly recommended

The hotel was very old world - keys as opposed to electronic room entry and formal furnishings. The rooms were clean and staff was friendly and helpful. On our first morning we were leaving early for a tour and the front desk arranged for box breakfasts to get us on our way. The daily buffet breakfast was impressive and you should plan on taking advantage of this amenity. We arrived late night and needed food to get us through to morning. Food outside of breakfast was basically bar- type food including fresh panini sandwiches and snacks; simple but satisfactory. Note, the pasta dishes were frozen - we didn't try any of those. A plus was the great conversation with bartender Manuelo (spelling?). Many good full menu restaurants in the area - see our review of Calabascio Ristorante .

Worst customer service. We did book this hotel 4 months ago, and when we arrived (TODAY) they gave us a room in the -1st Floor, room was dirty, and we felt like begging for charity in the basement. We asked for another room and the answer was that the hotel is full, I did a complain because we did the reservation 4 MONTHS ago, and also paid long time ago. They offered another room a little bit better in the 1st Floor, but single beds, and this is our Honey Moon, I guess I have to sleep away from my Husband. Nobody apologized or anything. This is NOT a Dream for tourists, maybe a Nightmare. The beds and so sloppy and not comfortable. WiFi is weak. BAD, Bad, bad. Don't come here if you read this.

Literally loved this place. It wasn't right in the thick of it, but it was a short walk from amazing restaurants and beautiful landmarks! It was within feet of the river and a 10 minute walk from The Vatican! The staff were SO nice, the rooms were huge, air conned and really well decorated. If I was to stay in Rome again, I'd definitely stay here again and I'd definitely recommend it.
