My usual comments about Courtyards is that they give you nothing extra except a USA Today. This hotel must have watched the show, TINY BATHROOM. I can't remember a bathroom this small for the past 20-30 years. As a Lifetime Gold Marriott Rewards member, this was unacceptable!
Marriott Platinum for the last decade. Checked in to room 509 on July 10th, Checked out July 18th. Upon checking back into the same hotel on July 24th I pulled up my bill through email as I hadn't looked at the bill in the week between checking out and back in , noticed a $250 room smoking charge. Granted I do smoke, but have never smoked in a room unless out on a balcony. Many times I will clean out my car which I work in 12 hours a day with butts thrown into a cup and on this occasion took some trash up to my room to dispose of before checking out and heading to the airport (apparently I should have thrown into the outside trash but I accumulate a lot in the 8 days I'm working and remember the trash bins I walked to being full so I took items up to my room not thinking it may cause an odor in my room) . Regardless no cigarettes were smoked in that room and Upon speaking to the manager on site was told butts and ashes were found. The only butts would have been in a cup buried at the bottom of a trash bag. I can assure no random cigarette butts were found anywhere around that room because I didn't smoke in it. LIFETIME PLATINUM MEMBER. I Will now be taking my team of 10 employees and moving to Hilton. I'm glad Marriott is willing to lose multiple customers who spend thousands of dollars with your brand staying hundreds of nights per year. HILTON HOTELS IT IS. I Would think at least a phone call from a manager explaining the situation instead of tacking it on the bill and finding out later. If it's simply the smell of musty cigarettes in a bag that warrants the $250 then tell me that but not that I was smoking in a room that I was not. I have spent thousands of nights in the past decade all over the country and have never had this issue. Show me evidence off butts and ashes around the room. P.S. I also opted into the 250points/night for 3 consecutive days of no Room Cleaning and after the 3rd day the room was still not cleaned and was not cleaned the entire duration of my stay even after taking the Do Not Disturb sign off the door, and at no time did I tell them I wanted to continue the No Cleaning Option after the 3rd day . Have never went an entire stay without having my room cleaned and I should not have to call the front desk to get it done. Sign NOT on door = CLEAN THE ROOM. Have NEVER had this issue before with any other hotel and I've stayed at some poor Marriott Properties and have stuck with the Brand and haven't wavered. The people I spoke with at the hotel were not Professional, but again we are talking Rochester, NY
We spent three nights here in July while in town for a wedding and family reunion. It was easy to find the hotel by using the GPS address given on our reservation. The location was convenient to highways and there were restaurants nearby that we enjoyed including Penfield Pour House, Steve's Diner, and George's Diner. Our room was at the end of a hall on the first floor in the back of the building, and it was very quiet. Housekeeping did a fine job and we always returned to a nice, clean room after being out and about. Our room was very large with a sofa and large desk area. It was a very pleasant experience.
Stayed in room 221 - serious noise issues with the pipes. Rooms are outdated. Can't stand in front of the sink in the bathrooms without standing over the toilet. It's a Courtyard straight from the 90s.
I moved over to this hotel during a very busy weekend in Rochester. I was staying at the Strathallan which is apparently one of the best hotels in Rochester. I found it just ok. I had a much better stay at the Courtyard. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms, ample parking, friendly front desk, & a great breakfast served by two very nice & pleasant ladies. My only suggestion is minor...noticed a few handprints on the stucco walls in the hotel but I'm a clean freak & they were nothing to lose sleep over!
Stayed here on a business trip recently and was satisfied with the experience. Decent sized King room with a sofa, table area and a good workspace. A bit of a different design with a cubby area where the closet was and then a counter with a small refrigerator underneath it. Bonus in my room was that my windows actually opened with screens. Nice lobby with the Bistro, adequate fitness room with everything seeming to be in working order. There really isn't much around here and Rochester does not have Uber yet. The Penfield Pour House is definitely worth checking out. Consistent experience with what you would expect out of the Courtyard.
In the area from UK for one night. Staff especially Katie was really helpful arranging taxis, walking map and worrying that everything was perfect which it was. Arrived around 10am expecting to drop bags in luggage storage before going out for the day but was checked right in. Wonderful would use hotel again if in the area.
Very clean and amazingly quiet hotels. I'm so glad to travel for work and find a clean comfortable hotel. Traveling for work can be draining but this was a nice relief. Good amenities. Exercise room. Coffee bar and small fridge in the room. Nice staff as well.
We stayed here because it was reserved for us for a family funeral. The staff was very nice and helpful. We even got a discount because our stay was for a funeral, we were shocked, so nice! We had a king size bed, which was very comfortable, the room was very clean. They gave a coffee shop for breakfast and lunch, and a nice area to sit and talk, great WiFi too!! They even let us stay past our checkout time so that we could change our clothes after the funeral for our long drive back home, very compassionate staff!! If we ever return to this area, we will definitely stay here again!
Stayed for one night with young son for an event at St John Fisher. The hotel was close to St John Fisher. Check in was quick and the front desk was nice. She told us about breakfast hours and pool hours. The lobby was nice and modern. We had a king size bed that also had a pull out couch and mini fridge. The bathroom was on the small size but it was clean and the shower pressure was good. The Wifi signal was good and strong. The staff working breakfast on the day we checked out were great. We had the french toast and it was excellent. I would definitely stay at this property again.
