The property was great. It was clean and had everything you would need. The booking was a little confusing through VRBO, but the host was very responsive so it wasn't an issue. I highly recommend!

Here's what I LOVE about this place:- Excellent communication from the owner. Right from the start. Answers questions immediately. Very helpful in recommending area restaurants and anything else you need to know.- Great location. Walkable to Market Square and other downtown attractions. Felt very safe.- Super clean and really cool/cozy/comfy decor- Over the top supplies. Snacks, condiments, coffee, creamers, utensils, bathroom supplies, etc. Over the top!!!- Decent parking- Pet friendly- Easy check in/check out- Great outside deck- Coffee shop/winebar downstairs- Basically EVERYTHING!Here's what I HATE:- Having to give this place a five star review because I really would like to keep this gem a secret! (But I would give it a million stars if I could). Can't wait to stay here again!

Stephen’s Fortress of Solitude in downtown Roanoke is exactly what it promises and in the best possible way. If you are looking for a place where you can truly focus, get work done, and still feel comfortable and at home, this is it.The space is quiet, thoughtfully laid out, and extremely conducive to deep focus and productivity. I stayed specifically to work and the environment delivered perfectly. A major bonus is that it is dog friendly, which made the stay feel relaxed and welcoming rather than restrictive.Full transparency, I asked questions, confirmed details, and probably over-checked everything. Stephen somehow managed to respond so quickly and consistently that it became genuinely funny. I would send a message and before I could even set my phone down, there was already a response. Stephen is an outstanding host. Clear, professional, friendly, and proactive without ever being intrusive. Everything was exactly as described, clean, and seamless from check in through check out.

My wife and I stayed here with our 27 yr old son. Our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren joined us. Only the 3 of us slept here but everyone came over and my in-laws joined us too. It was tight with everyone there but it was great. We plan on staying there another time when visiting our family in Roanoke.

Excellent apartment with all the essentials provided. Appreciated the snacks, coffee, tea, and kitchen supplies. It made it easy to cook breakfast in the morning. The bed is super comfortable! Steve is a great host and wonderful at communicating. I appreciated the check in/parking video before we arrived.

Stayed for 6 nights and was a nice sized apartment that had everything we needed. It was walkable to the core of downtown but in a quiet area with businesses that were only open during the day so noise at night was not a problem. Parking in the lot next to the building was easy and we were pleased to find that instead of having to carry everything up stairs (we brought bikes) you can just walk onto the roof from the back of the parking lot after opening the back door from the front entrance. Would definitely stay again.

Great location to downtown

Visiting our son, the loft was perfect. Easy check in, great communication, clean and spacious, we will definitely stay here on our next visit to Roanoke. There is a similar loft on the other side making it great for two couples traveling together.

Comfortable and cute apartment

We stayed 13 nights while visiting our son and his wife. The apartment is in a good location in downtown Roanoke. Very impressed with the host communication. We were not burdened with a long check out list like some other VRBO’s. Just set the heat and lock the door. Really enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic Experience!
