Our stay at Ocean Maya Royale was not what we expected. Overall, the customer service left a lot to be desired. We had to call the main number several times just to receive basic items like water and a steamer. Although they were eventually delivered, it took multiple follow-ups, which was frustrating.
Our experience at the Mexican restaurant, El Charro, was especially disappointing. We waited an hour for our food, only to be served cold dishes. The chicken in particular tasted as if it came out of a can. On top of that, getting reservations at the other restaurants was nearly impossible.
There was also a day when the water went out for a few hours in the morning and again in the afternoon, which was inconvenient and unexpected for a resort at this level.
Despite the issues, I want to give a big shoutout to the staff at La Hacienda: Octavio, Sara, Gabriela, Ramon, and Benito. Their service stood out and truly made a difference during our stay. Additionally, Kevin at checkout was excellent—professional, kind, and efficient. These team members were the highlight of our trip.
In summary, while there were some bright spots thanks to a few outstanding staff members, the overall experience fell short of expectations.
