Everyone at OMR was extremely friendly and helpful toward us during our entire stay. Drinks were brought to us on the beach, by the pool, and out on the terrace area every evening. All the employees had smiles. The beach is gorgeous and very relaxing. They offer plenty of water sports for guests, as well. Our room was always clean, with housekeeping coming in every day. The ONLY thing that wasn't my favorite was how much the staff pushed for us to listen to a presentation on their Privilege program, and how much they tried to sell us water sport/excursion/spa packages while we were trying to relax on the beach. However, I know they were just doing their job and you'll have this at any type of resort most likely, and they all graciously accepted when we said, "No thank you," and moved on with a smile. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great place without kids around. Our stay was for our honeymoon, and it was wonderful not having kids running around everywhere. We plan to return to OMR as soon as we can!

All of the vacations we have taken to Riviera Maya, we have never been treated differently. Ocean Maya Royale, an H10 property, is unlike any other place we have stayed. We were approached by staff and greeted, escorted to the registration desk where we were promptly told check in was at 3 pm and would not be given a room until then. We were given an appointment for the following morning to meet with an associate for about 1 1/2 hours and for sitting through the presentation we would receive $100. We requested a king bed in a room on the first floor due to the difficulty I have climbing stairs. The room we were assigned was on the third floor (elevator out of order) and had two double beds. Our room was changed the following day at 3 PM, check in time though we still had separate beds. We attended the rescheduled presentation. An hour and a half became 3 hours and this was indeed a sales pitch, even though "time share" may not be the correct term. The Privilege program presented basically does away with the use of travel agents and the folks who have bought in receive preferential treatment. We also never saw the $100 incentive. Food in the buffets was warm at best. Do not expect to eat in the hibachi area of the oriental restaurant, unless you are privileged. The beach was a disappointment. Not much of it and the staff couldn't keep up with the seaweed. All in all a very poor experience. Will find another resort for the coming year!

After reading A LOT of reviews, we were questioning what the resort would be like. We went for our Honeymoon and honestly, we would not have changed a THING! Which is what prompted me to write a review... I don't know what people are talking about in their reviews; staff is amazing, service if great, the resort is beautiful. Nothing disappointed us. DO NOT sign up for Privilege; it is a waste. We were treated to almost all of the Privilege services without being. Our room was also RIGHT on the water when Privilege rooms are near the lobby. I feel the Ocean Front Deluxe is the best bet. All alcohol was still name brand. There is plenty of beach frontage. The seaweed was not bothersome and staff cleaned it off the shore when necessary. We walked quite a ways down the shoreline and noticed that Ocean Maya was BY FAR the nicest compared to others we saw. No reservations were needed for any of the restaurants like some complained about. We never had an issue just walking in. And staff were always eager to assist if anything was needed or disliked. We stayed Dec 10th - 16th. Again, we LOVED out trip and the resort. We would definitely stay again without hesitation and have absolutely no complaints. Oli, one of the lobby bartenders was great and very entertaining :)

this was one of the best places I have stayed at.the food was good the people were great..i will go back there..

Hotel was more than I could ever imagine, service was impeccable.. plenty to do there I loved every minute. Great place great atmosphere. Would definitely do it again. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

Hotel, staff, food/beverage were great. Beach was a huge disappointment. Did go in to beach once as it was very dirty w/seaweed. Not the beautiful aqua water viewed in website pics. Hoping it was due to storms they had a few weeks before we arrived & not always that way.

The beach area was disappointing, as was the ocean. The pool wasnt refreshing at all. We played volleyball the entire time which made our time enjoyable. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. The specialty restaurants were disappointing, so we ate in the main buffet most of the time. The staff and the guests are what made this trip actually worth it. We opted not to do the privilege upgrade and that seemed to be the best decision as others that did do that were unhappy with it. It was nice that they did a show every night, but other than that there isnt much to do. We enjoyed our time here, but given the choice to go back, we would choose to stay somewhere else.

This was a H.S. Graduation gift for my daughter. The service was great but the entertainment was poor. The pool was good especially the one w/ the bar.If you want piece &quiet this is the place. If you like entertainment this hotel misses the ball. The beach was Ok not the best. But everything else was great.

Recently had a 7 day stay at Ocean Maya Royale. Had a great time! The food selection in the buffet was good and varied every day. Tried the Japanese restaurant and it was good, too. Be sure and bring Off or some kind of bug spray if you are prone to mosquito bites. The room was a little cold for me but temperature was locked in so I couldn't adjust it. Overall I had a really enjoyable time!

There are much better options nearby. It was still worth the trip, but if I were to go back I would definitely stay at another resort.

Not bad but small resort beach not so clean super dirty when we went and food was ok not better then other resorts I've been too like princes and Ibero playa beach

Hotel is nice and rooms are clean and comfortable. Delicious a la carte food at its restaurants, but I think they need more staff, our room wasn't cleaned the second day even when we spent more than four hours outside and leave the please clean my room sign on the door, also it tooks us a lot to get our drinks by the pool or by the beach, it seams they only have one person there. And they took a lot of time to finally answer they phone to order room service. Besides thath it was great. They live music on the lobby, and you can spend a very romantic evening there.

we have graet time the service the people was excellente , food great

Pool and drinks were great...Oly the bartender at front bar was super fun and got us too many shots!! Hibatchi restaurant was the best, Mexican and Italian could use some help- food wasn't great. Beach had a lot of seaweed but they were out there to clean it up quite a bit. Overall great time for the money spent!

I thought the food was wonderful and a very beautiful resort. Compared to other resorts we have stayed at, felt the service and management was lacking. The beach is small and rocky, which is a deal breaker for my husband.

Godo experiencia, great customer service. Terrible wifi

This hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the hotel staff was so friendly!! The location was a little further from the Playa Del Carmen Town than I would have liked but that is nothing against the actual hotel. As much as they tried everyday to keep the beach area clean there was a lot of smelly seaweed. The pools are amazing and not crowded, Miguel the pool bar bartender was amazing! The layout and the grounds of the hotel were amazing. The breakfast and lunch buffets were really good, but I wasn't that pleased with the dinners. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

The hotel itself is kept extremely clean, even the pool areas. Walkways have local wildlife that is very pleasant to look at but not disturb. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and made the experience very enjoyable. The beach was lacking a little, but a short walk away to another hotel will give you a better beach. I will visit this place again when I have the chance and highly recommend it to couples and adults who want to avoid children in their vacation. The local people, from the staff to the folks in Playa del Carmen (as well as all other attractions we visited) were extremely polite and helpful. We visited Chichen Itza and Tulum, and the guides were top notch and very knowledgeable.

PROS - All restaurants but the Italian - Beautiful resort, well maintained - 10 minute walk from a Blue Lagoon - Close to downtown CON - Beach (time of year? we went in July)

This hotel resort was perfect. My new husband I went there for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. The food was delicious, the landscaping was immaculate, the staff was friendly, the pools and beaches were beautiful and the villas were perfect. The resort was always quiet and romantic, but also fun. There was plenty do with the sports shop there, the pools, the bars and the evening shows. Will definitely go back!
