Quirk Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

was quoted a nightly rate on the phone that was not honored. Email confirmation was not sent and then called to ask again. Rate that was sent was not the rate that the hotel desk staff discussed with me on the phone. Also, Quirk adds in an extra "resort" fee for typical hotel amenities like coffee, water and internet even though they are clearly not a resort and these fees are just a way of padding the bottom line
I usually want to spend all my time exploring a city but at the Quirk I love lounging/reading in the super cool lobby. Never have I felt like stealing hotel decor but I want everything here! Also, the cocktails are very good and the dinner I had at the bar (risotto) was superb. This is an uplifting place!
Sometimes we think we're too old for this because I swear we were the oldest people on the rooftop...but we don't care! Pink makes everyone smile: and this rooftop is no exception. We adored this place. We stayed at an Air BNB across the street from the hotel. The queue for the rooftop was very long on Friday night so on Saturday, we were able to get up to the rooftop without a wait - around 7 pm - as you age, lines are not appealing, ever. Sat at the bar, took in the great views, the amazing hospitality by the bar staff and the fun & quirky drinks and descriptions. Pink decor, pink drink. Refreshing, had a second. Fiance had a craft draft which he enjoyed. There is a level below the rooftop that was quite busy as well. Ample seating, nice breeze to stave off the sweats. Only recommendation: the sleek white high top bar seats seem to have lost their 'height' and you sit rather low to the bar top - maybe a refresher for next season with some additional height. Will definitely return on our next visit.
Loved everything about this experience from booking to checkout. The hotel is beautiful. The staff is professional. The rooms are spacious. The only bummer was the rainout so we couldn't see the roof, but I'm already looking forward to checking it out the next time we stay.
everything from check-in to check-out was fantastic. The bar had delicious drinks and the room was very comfortable. The decor is modern and elegant. The rooftop bar has lovely views of the entire city, this made for a very romantic evening.
A really fantastic and relaxing few days in Richmond brought to us by the Quirk Hotel. Great staff- friendly, professional and efficient. A beautiful hotel from the lobby to our room and up to the rooftop bar. The location was central and we were able to use the in/out option from the valet for our day trips. The weather interrupted our rooftop fireworks show view, but we made a trip up top the next night and got a nice vista of the city. Recommended.
I had never been to the Quirk before but the VP of my work highly recommended it and booked us each a room while we were in town. I felt like I was in a movie! Gorgeous space, they pay homage to the original department store layout, and I love that they display local art!! I’ll be back again soon so I can take advantage of their amazing bar menu...I didn’t get a chance this time.
I am so happy I chose Quirk! Charming, fun, and historical. We had 12-13 foot ceilings with windows that took my breath away. Room service had the best cheeseburger I have ever eaten. My daughter is attending VCU and we will most certainly stay at Quirk again!!
My adult son and I stayed at the Quirk hotel in Richmond on our drive from vacation in Kiawah. The staff was professional and set up a sleeper cot for my son as requested before our arrival, which we appreciated. The location is wonderful with a great on site restaurant and beautiful but a bit too busy rooftop bar. The neighborhood is has a very dynamic art and culture scene with great dining and gallery options. Wish our visit had been longer.
My husband and I had a great room on the fifth floor. We loved the decor and the convenience of everything. It was all very clean with plenty of space for our luggage. It was a bit awkward that there was only one chair in the room, so one of us had to perch elsewhere. When I booked directly with the hotel, I did not ask about extra fees, so my bad. In addition to the room rate, we were charged a Room Tax ($8.96), and Occupancy Tax ($13.53) and a Hotel Fee ($11.95.) I'd seen online about the Hotel Fee, but not the others. Here is our problem: When I checked out, I was told I'd get my receipt by email. Fine. When I'd not received it by the next day, I called and it was sent immediately. I did not challenge the above fees. Soon after that, I happened to check my Amex account and discovered I'd been charged $42.79 MORE than my receipt had indicated. I called and was told it was because my card was pre-authorized for that payment. Ridiculous! I've stayed at hotels around the world where my card was pre-authorized, and I was never overcharged. She said I'd be reimbursed the difference "within a week or two." So...enjoy a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff, but be forewarned. Meanwhile, I'll keep checking my Amex account for my $42.79 reimbursement.
