Overall nice place. It's reasonably priced and walking distance or quick drive to a lot of things. The building itself is kind of old looking from the outside but the rooms have been updated recently. The rooms have balconies which are rusty but you can't use them anyway, which is pretty standard these days. We enjoyed our stay here.

On our recent visit to NC State for parent's weekend we wanted a hotel close to campus. We were hoping to find a hotel that also included breakfast in the room rate however this hotel does not. Our evening was compromised by a room filled with a very loud group. We believe that they had their balcony door open, in addition to hearing them through the walls. As the hour grew later, the crowd got louder. Our first call to the front desk was after 11 pm. Our third call to the front desk was after 12:30 am. The group finally quieted sometime after 1 am. That third call seemed to be more of an irritant to the front desk, which seemed odd. Parking is free however is not covered. Smoking is allowed just outside the door leading to the parking lot.

The hotel is within walking distance to NC State's campus and downtown Raleigh with places to eat and sightsee. In a quiet and safe neighborhood, very few students but only because I was here in July. The staff at check in gave me a warm chocolate chip cookie too! Definitely one of the better places I've stayed in Raleigh.

This hotel was almost perfect! It was very attractive and clean. Staff were friendly.

I stayed near NC State for a conference and it is in close distance. Parking is easy and check in is fast. I would hope they had complimentary bottle water in the room

Very Good Service at the hotel. Great Staff. Would stay there again.

This is an average hotel that is close to NC State. The location is good with a few decent restaurants and bars within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

-Arrived just after 3pm check-in time no cookies. -Room air conditioner very noisy bathroom vent dirty. -Mattress very uncomfortable needs replacing. -Door keys worked poorly. -Housekeeping did a very good job. -Excellent central location. -Will look for a better run Raleigh hotel on our next visit.

The rooms are old. I can hear everything outside and the double beds were very small and uncomfortable. It's way overpriced for the rooms. I would stay elsewhere.

We had a pleasant experience at this hotel. The bed and room was soo comfortable, friendly staff, and fantastic convenient location, with a beautiful view of downtown Raleigh without the hustle and bustle of being downtown. Lots of food and shopping choices within walking distance. The only downside is there is no mini fridge, but that was only a minimal obstacle. Will definitely stay here again!

I went to this hotel for a seminar. I thought that since this was a Hilton hotel that the quality of service and customer satisfaction would be great. Not really at all at this location. On both nights drunk people ran up and down the halls and on both nights the front desk staff and security guard did nothing to stop these people. At one point the front desk staff stopped answering when I called from my room. I had to go downstairs and demand to have my room changed. Dont stay here. Stay some where else.

Good choice for a clean, low price, comfortable hotel in a good location.

I did not review this hotel before booking. It was higher priced but in the location I needed. I expected more from a DoubleTree. I nice front facia hides an old hotel. As a Hilton Honors member, I did receive two bottles of water, but no fridge to put them in. First time in a loooong time I haven't had a fridge in a room. The hotel was clean the staff was very nice. Kind of a classic if you like that.

every should be mostly perfect. that would be more better if there is a compact refrigerator and microwave oven in room.

The Double Tree experience was a success. It's conveniently located to downtow and NCSU campus. There is food accessible on foot and can always get a rick shaw bike ride home for free + tip. Only complaint was keys were difficult to get enter your room, very moody.

Stayed 5 days for our first time in Raleigh. Close walking distance to NC State, restaurants and downtown. Balcony useable in nice weather. Did not try the breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

It's a very convenient spot and clean. You can walk downtown and there is plenty of parking.

Don't know where to start... 1) They charged me twice for the stay, on two different cards (one before the stay and another when I was checking out). Tried to contact them, but they are making it hard to get the money back -- resolving it via the credit card company now. 2) They NEVER changed sheets, although I complained daily and each time they promised to fix it the next day. At least one day the towels did not look clean. 3) After I talked twice to the manager (Bill Winn) about the sheets, he promised to compensate me by crediting my PriorityClub account with 2 free nights. Three weeks later, the total credit from that hotel is ZERO - not even a credit for just having stayed there. 4) When I called for a breakfast to the room, they said they would bring it in a couple of minutes. 25 minutes later, it was still not there. I went downstairs and they claimed they had already delivered it but I did not open when they knocked (duh? the door stayed ajar all morning!), but they have it ready and can pack it for me to go. 10 minutes later, it was still not packed and I just left. 5) When they called up a taxi for me, it did not arrive. When they arranged for another taxi 20 minutes later, the taxi had to stop on a way to pick someone else -- as if I was not in a hurry already! Alright, this may be a taxi company problem, but they are the ones selecting which company to contact! They are "renovating" now -- quite a hassle finding your way through the labyrinths that change daily. I think they'd better renovate the way they work. The hotel looks great at the surface, and so are their promises, but they never proved out.
