I was in need of a comfortable bed, a hot shower, in the exact location of the intersection of highway 55 and highway 54 in Durham. The Candlewood Suites delivered on all three conditions, plus the room looked exactly like it was pictured so I have absolutely no complaints.

The hotel was very nice. It is a bit dated but clean and well-appointed. One of the added niceties was having a recliner in the suite.

The hotel had a strange smell in the hallway. The fire alarm went off a few times without any explanation for it. Overall the room was clean and the area felt safe. The hotel was convient and cheap for a short weekend trip.

Hotels should list this as an extended stay property because it is. And if I had known that, I would not have booked my stay there because it's rather shabby like many extended stay facilities. There was a dead roach on the floor in my room, so I left and never even stayed the night. Also, when I arrived firefighters were there responding to some false alarm, so the fire alarm went off about three times for the approximately 20 minutes I was there. Abysmal.

The room we were in the first night was dirty, there was a dirty towel in the bathroom, there was grease splattered on the stove top and the kettle sitting on the stove and there was dust on the stove hood. They moved us for the second night and the room had an odd smell in it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We’ve had worse but we won’t stay at this property again.

Issues with bathroom towel rack felt down . Among other issues. The television was not working my husband was upset went to the front desk and spoke about these issues. The desk receptionist stated she will contact the manager to address these issues. However did not return my husband went back to the desk an hour later and was told that management will take care of it in the morning. Spoke to the manager I. the am and was told Expedia will refund our stay.

Quick overnight stop

It was okay. The room was moderately clean, but the bed seemed to be the most clean, which is ideal. The room needs a heavy deep clean as there are multiple cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. It also slightly smelled like smoke, which I promptly alerted the clerk so we wouldn’t be charged. Overall, the bed was clean and comfy. It was good for a quick 1 night stay.

Will stay again!

Clean facility and room, linens were pristine. The kitchen was adequately equipped. Very clean fridge without any weird smells. A/c worked perfectly. There was quite a bit of outside noise into the evening and late night. We were in the end unit closest to the very nice outdoor grill area so a lot of that noise was from people out there being loud. Shouting and music from cars. The windows weren’t covered enough so quite a lot of light came in the bedroom. Visibility from outside wasn’t an issue, just light around and under the drapes. Will definitely stay again.
