I love staying at this hotel! We always try to stay here when we are in Portsmouth. We live less than an hour away but enjoy staying here, taking the free shuttle downtown and back. When the weather is warm the pool is good. The breakfast is more than bountiful The staff is great! I lost a diamond earring down the drain and they had their maintenance man come in to retrieve it. It was waiting for me at the front desk when I came home from shopping. This hotel is convenient to so many places, from outlets in Maine, to the beaches and downtown Portsmouth. Happy Hour at the Blue Mermaid is amazing!

Everything was fine. Staff very attentive and friendly.

Sandra and Lela were two of the most helpful hotel staff that I can remember! They truly enhanced our stay!

We were in town for a UNH game. Also wanted to spend two nights going out on the town in Portsmouth. This hotel was a good location and value for accomplishing both.

When we first entered the room it had a damp, musty ordor, we had plans and figured we would run the A/C to dry and circulate some of the bad air. Upon our return that night it was a fraction better but still noticable and found the carpet to be soaking wet under the A/C unit because it was dripping into the room. The bathroom is very small and being over 6' tall I found it difficult to shut the bathroom door without standing off to the side because it's with in inches of the toilet. While using the bathroom I noticed what appeared to be fecal matter on the back of the door. We did report the smell, leaking A/C and fecal material to the hotel staff and they did apologize. We found the contiental breakfast to be a very over crowded little space with limited seating so we took our meal back to our room but there are no tables and chairs to eat on. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our time in the area but I feel that our next visit will not be at the Fairfield INN.

My husband & I had a great one night stay here. Location was set back from Rte. 1 so there was no traffic noise. Clean room, comfy beds & nice breakfast. Free shuttle into downtown Portsmouth was a nice bonus.

Very clean hotel and extremely friendly staff! Bed was very comfy as well as all the pillows ( and there were lots of them ;) ) Breakfast was good and we recommend sitting in the sunshine at the table for 2 in the lobby area!

Unexpected bonus was availability of a shuttle van to First Night venues in downtown Portsmouth.

Great staff! Super comfortable bed and even a shuttle to first night festivities and back. Will do it again next year.

This hotel self advertised as a 2 star hotel but we found it quite nice, a very friendly and supportive staff and a pleasant stay. It is an older hotel but it was well maintained and we enjoyed our stay.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a short overnight trip. It was great! Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in was hassle-free. Rooms were clean. King size bed was VERY comfortable! Late check out (noon) was great! Gave us enough time to enjoy their FREE continental breakfast and be lazy for a couple hours before checking out. Continental breakfast was the best I have had yet. Very good, very fresh. We enjoyed the free HBO as well as the free WiFi. We were only staying one night but were very tempted to stay an extra night. Location was perfect. Right off I-95, 5-6 minutes from the Kittery Outlet Malls. The value was pretty good, worth every penny. I will be back. Recommend to anyone 100%.

make sure you go over your confirmation, i asked for 2 double beds and the confirmation said 1 double bed so my husband, daughter and myself had to sleep in a room for 1. we did get a cot for no charge. the room was nice but small. the breakfast was really good and only 5 mins from downtown

We just stayed 1 night at the hotel to go out in downtown portsmouth and it was great. The rooms were tidy, front desk staff very helpful, the beds were incredibly comfortable-- we didn't want to get up in the morning because they were so comfy-- and they serve a cute continental breakfast in the morning which was actually quite good with bagels and cereal, fresh fruit-- etc. Would definitely stay there again (a little pricey) but relatively close to downtown, it's right off the traffic circle and only a 5 min cab ride there. Only issues we encountered were with the bathroom the fan didn't work so it was really stuffy in our room after we showered and they recommended a very poorly mannered cab company who told us to "hurry up because they were too busy". All in all the hotel was really great!

Clean and comfortable. Desk was helpful with directions.

I was put in a handicap accessible room, although not sure why. The room had a king bed, microwave, fridge, etc. The bed looked inviting until I had to remove the black curly hair - ewww. The mini fridge would thaw out and make terribly inconsistent start-up noises. At 2am, I yanked the plug out of the wall so I could try and get some sleep. When I told the front desk the next morning, they weren't concerned. Nice! The location was good as I was driving to York Maine. The roundabout to get back on the highway was a little confusing. You had to travel about 2 miles to find food. There's nothing w/in walking distance of the hotel. B/fast was your usual continental grub. They were nice enough to give me a tray so I could take my food back to my room. Some hotels want you to keep food on premises. It wasn't a bad stay, just a few annnoying details. [...]

All of the staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful and made the stay very enjoyable.

great location at a great price

We checked in and then went shopping and then to the beach. It was cool and windy but the ocean air was refreshing. If the price was a little lower we might have stayed another night. The next time we will remember to bring our swimming suits.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The only thing that I have noticed when booking a hotel through a travel site is that the room is either at the very end of the hall or next to the elevator, thank goodness this room was at the end of the hall.

We went to Portsmouth just for the night. The hotel was clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a few minute drive into downtown. We would have liked a jacuzzi to relax in after our drive. The pool was outside and clean.
