My fiancé and I don’t have time for a honeymoon so we decided to book a romantic trip to the Azores before our wedding to calm the nerves and have an early honeymoon. We booked through Orbitz a flight and hotel deal. Our Delta flight on Sunday, Aug 18 was initially delayed and then cancelled. We were super bummed but we’re rescheduled for the next day and notified orbitz and the hotel. The next day, SAME thing happened. Cancelled flight. By this time, we would have spent more time traveling than on vacation so we cancelled to whole trip. We immediately notified Orbitz who promptly contacted Delta and Azor hotel for a refund. We got our flight refunded no problem but Orbitz informed us that the hotel said that no cancellations were allowed and they would not refund any or our stay, despite being informed of our flight cancellation and promptly telling the hotel to cancel our reservation before we even got there, so that they can rebook the room. My fiancé and I are now out over $1,000 because of something completely beyond our control. I am so saddened that this hotel is run by such heartless individuals who are stealing money from us for a trip we could not take. It is so horrible for this hotel not to give us a refund. It’s supposed to be such a happy time in our lives but this has caused us so much stress.
Room was not ready. We booked a double room and it is now 3:30, 30mins last check in time. They gave us a room with 2 twin beds pushed together. They said they will send someone to put a mattress topper on top to make it into a double bed but didn’t give us an ETA. I asked for complimentary drink vouchers while we wait as we flew in on a morning flight and are tired, they said no. Poor customer service for a 5star hotel. Room not ready and nothing to compensate the guest for waiting.

I booked this hotel for my family and I with the knowledge that it had a Spa, come to find out when we arrived that the SPA was under construction. Not good!

The breakfast buffet is outstanding and the restaurant A Terra was the best restaurant we ate at during our week's stay - traditional food updated and beautifully prepared with organic local sourcing; we ate there 3 times. Location is within walking distance of everything in the town.
Simply modern. Comfortable with great views. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar and pool were an added benefit. Restaurant had fab steaks and the breakfasts are difficult to top.

Very spacious rooms, Beds are excellent, very comfortable and large with tons of pillows. Great TV, safe, small refrigerator with water and local soda. No ice machine on the floors but if you call down they will bring you whatever you need. Front desk was the nicest I have ever encountered. Bathroom is dark and the lighting is tough. Shower is large but the door is weird. Balcony overlooking the marina is nice. Location is perfect to walk to everything. The Casino is nice but tiny, lthe smallest I have ever been in. The breakfast is excellent. There is something for anyone even with allergies. We also had dinner one night and it was just as good. Overall we had a great stay.
Very convenient to airport and FABULOUS breakfast buffet. Great view from 7th floor bar. Very pleased.
Super Hotel. The common areas spacious and warm, The room was clean and modern. The bed was GREAT. The desk staff was fantastic. They were all helpful and knowledgeable. The Whale watching bar is really fun.
Air conditioning in our room stopped working and we moved to a different room.
We had a wonderful stay here! The room was lovely, and well designed. It had a view of the marina across the street, and the bed was very comfortable. The service is incredibly gracious, and we were made to feel most welcome. The onsite restaurant is very good, as is the rooftop bar (very obliging bartenders!) My friend had a milestone birthday while we were there - the staff picked up on it (from viewing her passport,) and when we got back from visiting sites that day, there was a bottle of bubbly and a cake waiting for her. Just a completely top notch operation!
The buffet was great, especially the muesli and local milk. It was well balanced with hot and cold choices. There are plenty of window views to the water, but mostly you see the boat docs and the freight unloading bar. The staff was very helpful organizing a trip and giving advice on where to go for genealogy information. They also helped setup a lat minute trip to Furnace for the meal cooked underground. They called a very reliable driver that came back after the meal to ring us back. The island itself is a lot less busy than our experience in Porto. You would not really know there were tourists. The town does not have as much to do as Porto, unless you dig a bit and look. Day trips seem to be very common, and it is easiest to let the hotel set them up, especially if you want some say in the trip, or you want to book the day before once you see the weather. That said, summer might be a different experience when more people are vacationing. If we came back I would stay here again.
The hotel was faultless. I would not hesitate to stay again or recommend it to anyone. The staff definitely aims to please, the comfort of the bed was excellent and the breakfast was wonderful.
