Stay away! We had the most terrible experience. We booked a room for one night for a couple and three children. The reservation was made several months in advance through Orbitz. We arrived at the hotel at 8:30 pm after a long day on the road, unfortunately we were amazed to find out that the hotel simply canceled our reservation! According to the receptionist, the room was canceled in the afternoon, because our credit card was blocked, she also said that they were sold out. I explained to her that my credit card had been canceled 3 months ago because it was lost, but I updated the details of the new card on Orbitz site. There was no problem like that in any other hotel we stayed in, and we stayed in 20 different hotels that 1 month trip. The receptionist herself was shocked that they had done such a thing. They simply canceled it without prior notice, either by email or by phone, even though they had all our numbers! I guess they preferred to sell our room at a higher price. They didn't even care if we had to spend the night in the car. Very rude behavior, we will certainly not go back to that hotel and recommend you to stay away! Luckily for us we managed to find another room in a different hotel at a better price that night.

I enjoyed my stay with some friends. We had a splendid time seeing new sights and going on new adventures. Did not have to travel far to get to where we needed to go.

Very clean, great service. Repeat customer, great value.

Room was clean but residue of smoke was present. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Free breakfast was decent.

The room was clean. The bed comfortable. The Internet was blazing fast. But, the room is also extremely tiny, almost like a ship cabin. It also smelled antiseptic and a bit smoky, though smoking is prohibited. I understand that the utilitarian nature of the room is the brand. But, it was not exactly inexpensive. A Holiday Inn Express, for the same money, would yield a room four times the size, and several times the spreading out comfort. There was one stick chair, for example, and a bench in the window sill. The included continental breakfast was fresh and satisfactory. But, it was just starches. There was no fresh fruit, eggs or meat of any kind. Cereal and bread product's, plus yogurt, was it. Overall, for a road side stay, I rated it three stars.

My wife and I were very happy with our stay at this hotel. We stayed here three nights as part of our vacation to visit the Lake Champlain and Burlington, VT area. We picked this hotel mainly because the hotels in Vermont were too expensive. We found this one very reasonably priced. (I didn't realize how far a drive it would be to get over to the east side of the lake, but that's another matter.) The hotel is located very conveniently near an exit off I-87, and is close by a variety of restaurants and such. The room itself was a bit small, but we got used to it and made it work. (We had our bicycles in the room with us so that made it even more cramped.) The bed was very comfortable and the heating/AC unit worked well and maintained a consistent temperature for us. The bathroom was average-sized, clean, and had a functional layout. There was an ice machine on the third floor where we were so it was no trouble keeping our drinks/food cold. The continental breakfast was the same each day and was decent, with three kinds of cold cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, oatmeal packets, yogurt, coffee, juice, milk, water, etc. There was no waffle maker, which I like, but I understand because there was no room for one on the counter anyway. It would have been nice if they had offered hard-boiled eggs for some protein, but they didn't. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and all of the employees we came into contact with were upbeat and all smiles. The attractive young lady with the long dark hair and glasses (didn't catch her name) seems to be a hard worker and did a great job keeping the coffee, bagels, and yogurt stocked during the morning breakfast rush. Overall we had a very good experience at this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again. As a side note, my expectations of New York state were way off the mark from what I experienced. I really like the state of New York and hope to visit it again some day. Every small town in New York we visited was quaint and clean and had character. And the scenery was awesome traveling south from Plattsburgh to somewhere around Saratoga Springs where we veered off to the west to jump on I-90. On our way down we got off of I-87 for a bit and wandered through the Lake George area and REALLY liked the looks of that area for a return visit. We also liked our time in Vermont, though not so much in downtown Burlington. (Burlington has a problem with gangs/graffiti, and a large homeless population who aren't shy about giving you grief if you don't give them a handout.) Shelburne Farms was a very nice visit. I wish we had gotten to the Shelburne Museum. That's on our to-do list if we ever get back to Vermont. We got to see several cool covered bridges in the area a little east of Lake Champlain. That area had great scenery too. We had the best meal of the trip at a little dot on the map (Jeffersonville, VT) at a restaurant called The Family Table. They have an awesome reuben sandwich. My wife got the chicken pita wrap, or something like that, and really enjoyed that as well. I got the pasta salad with my sandwich, which was good, but we got a side of their potato salad and that was absolutely delicious. Just a nice, clean, friendly establishment. We also stopped at Smuggler's Notch and did an exhausting hike up a small mountain to Sterling Pond. On our way back towards Lake Champlain we stopped at Stowe, VT, which was a nice stop, and we also did the tour at Ben & Jerry's factory in Waterbury, VT which was just sort of okay. I wouldn't make a special trip out there for the tour, but if you're in the area anyway it's worth a half-hour of your time. The weather for our trip was optimal (late June 2014) and we had a great time for the most part.

This was a very clean, simple hotel. It was fine for sleeping. Since we were outside the whole time, it worked very well for us.

There is too much noise between the rooms. And this would be fine if there was a better acoustic barrier between the rooms.

I chose this hotel over the many others on the commercial strip en route to an event at SUNY Plattsburgh because it was among the cheapest. Great choice on my part! Although it's slightly farther away, I was in a car so the extra distance didn't matter. One reviewer had complained about a residual cigarette smell, and I noticed that ever so slightly in the morning in the bathroom, but nothing to complain about. (I mention this only to counter the earlier complaint.# There were all the usual amenities: hairdryer, clock radio alarm, TV #although it was a huge HDTV -- very nice), lots of towels, extra blanket in the closet. It isn't the kind of hotel where you don't get a lid on the toilet, which I was a little afraid of because of the very decent price. There was a continental breakfast in the lobby in the morning, but I just needed the coffee.

The hotel is beautiful, clean anfd friendly service. It is not our first time and will not be our last

The rooms are very nice and clean as well as the bed very comfortable. The staff very perfessional. The housekeepers did a excellent job.

employees are very curtious but rooms were suprisingly small

A very busy week! Hotel was a very relaxing experince at the end of a long day. Pillows could have been better.

I had requested a NON-SMOKERS ROOM. My room was located on the second floor. As I got off the elevator the smell of smoke hit me immediately.. When I was in my room, the smell of smoke was awful. I called the front desk. And was told that the first and third floor were non-smoking but the second floor was mixed, smokers and non-smokers. I informed Brian that I had requested a non-smoker room and the smell was awful.

Set back from the road, very quiet, clean and comfortable. Not large but Well designed efficient room. Good internet availble and laundry available. OK continental breakfast.

Our stay was great, VERY CLEAN rooms, Fantastic staff, and a good location

We visited family for Christmas. We really didn't go anywhere to except to their homes. So didn't have time to anything else as we were only there for 2 days. Overall, we liked the hotel - it was quiet and clean.

Friendly staff, easy check in and very clean. Easy to get to and close to all kinds of shopping.

Was there for a family party in Plattsburgh and found the front desk staff to be very helpful. They provided us with anything we needed. Rooms were very clean. Housekeeping was efficient. Great location.

Me and my husband booked this hotel for 1 night because we wanted a little weekend getaway. We spent 1 night in Williston, VT (Friday), and 1 night in Plattsburgh (Saturday). We decided on this hotel because it was #1 on an advice trip website and reasonably priced. It also came with free Continental Breakfast. After staying at the Marriott first, maybe my viewpoint was biased. The room was "compact" small, but very clean, but everything about the room shouted "Motel Quality" especially the smell of the hotel sheets (but they were clean). I usually rely on the soap provided, but it smelled cheap. Also when I washed my hands, no matter how long I rinsed, I couldn't get the slippery feel away. My husband says it's the water, but I said it was the soap. I didn't even want to take a shower using the soap and water. (I was really apprehensive trying to put on my contacts with slimy slippery hands!). Staff was polite during check in, but not exceptional. Really nothing to brag about except they had free coffee and juice in the lobby. There was no coffee offered in the room. The bed was very bouncy springy (queen size), and I did not have a comfortable sleep at all. (Usually when you stay at a hotel you expect the room to be as good, or better than your room at home- but our bedroom at home was much better). I would not come back here, and I don't know why it was #1. I stayed at the Holiday Inn at Plattsburgh in the past, and I would have paid a little more to stay there again. In the morning, we missed breakfast (finished at 10:00am) so we were directed to a family run restaurant that wasn't good service or food portion. My husband didn't mind the place, but I did.

Thank you for sharing your experience on Orbitz. I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that the hotel does not simply cancel a guest's reservation under any circumstance--there must be sufficient cause to do so. Additionally, there is no incentive for doing so, since Orbitz charges the same price that the hotel does directly. The hotel takes every effort to contact a guest in the event of a declining or invalid credit card. In this case, we notified the site that the reservation was made on, Orbitz, and attempted to utilize the contact information they had on file to reach out directly. After failing to reach anyone, and with no further information from Orbitz, the hotel had no indication that we would have anyone accepting the charges for holding the room. It is also worth noting that a third party site is never as able to assist a guest as directly as the hotel, as their portion of the arrangement is only concerning making the reservation. Once the reservation is placed, it is the hotel that is responsible for everything else. Because of this, it is always preferable to contact the hotel directly to ensure that there is no miscommunication caused by a middleman. This is true of all hotels, and is sound advice for any traveler making plans at any hotel. I hope that this will be useful information and that this case can prevent a similar issue for others in the future.
