Clerk at check-in was unfriendly. When I arrived at my room, the window (and all windows on the third floor) were completely papered and taped over, and there was a crew painting with a very broad-stroke sprayer, painting the front of my room, as I entered. Paper remained on my window for my entire stay, preventing any light from entering the room. I give credit for trying to improve the place, but how about painting rooms that guests are NOT in? Bedding was dirty, and the bathroom sink was clogged. Air conditioner was not connected to the thermostat on the wall, nor did it have controls in the unit itself. I had to cover the unit with a blanket in order to sleep, as the room was freezing. Common areas and elevators smell BADLY of smoke. I travel a ton, and I am by no means a hotel snob - I typically say, "I just need clean sheets and a good shower." This place offered neither.
