Hotel Banke5.0 out of 5.0

The staff was wonderful, couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were very nice and clean, they were small but this is Paris, so they were sufficient. This hotel is first class, and I'm a hotel snob. The location is great, you are next to Gallery LaFayette and very close to 2 metro stops
From the moment we stepped into the lobby, I had great expectations. I'd been reading reviews for several months and they seemed to vary widely. We recommend. Our room on the 5th floor was lovely. The staff could not have been more helpful. Convenient to Metro. Though I thought the neighborhood we stayed in last time was far more charming [St. Germain], I cant really complain.
This should be of no surprise to Management, as I have told you in person 99% of what I am about to write.. Ok good points.. Staff, front desk and door staff very friendly and helpful as I can guarantee they got thoroughly sick of hearing from me..! Wifi is good, nice speed and coverage most of the time and great not having that alienating login process of many hotels. We thought this was going to be a wonderful boutique 5 star hotel in Paris and the early communication from the hotel looked promising where they asked you preferences and requirements for your stay. Well none of those preferences and requests happened..! Should have guessed something was up when none of the taxi drivers knew the hotel existed, for a 5 star this is VERY uncommon anywhere in the world. We arrived early at 7:45am after a 27hour trip, the hotel was informed of this and early check in was requested. Was happy to just drop the bags off and have a look around, a nicer option would have been to offer the customers the option to freshen up.. But no. Our room was not ready until after 2pm, the normal check in time and even then was left with the feeling that it was not convenient. We booked a suite, the definition of a suite is basically a bedroom and a lounge/living area, we ended up with what can only be described even by the Bank Hotel a Deluxe Room, so basically a nice Studio. Room was ok, bed comfortable and plenty of pillows and a small couch. No view of the city as requested, and in this hotel it would not be even possible as it is not high enough so the view through miniscule windows was of the roof of the building across the road. We booked on line so was meant to get a welcome Drink (tick), Bottle of wine (fail) daily mineral water (fail). Complained to front desk, said they could move us tomorrow to a Suite, which happened but before this we were getting ready to go out, and one of the staff just barged into the room, no knocking, no calling out "housekeeping" just walked in like they owned the place, and then LIED to say they knocked, no you didn't..! I can hear the subway going past from the 5th floor, I can sure as eggs hear you knock. Was told by reception to dead bolt the door or put out the do not disturb sign; Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, you have got to be joking, easier option just do not barge into the guests room.! Oh, room has no drawers, Iron, Ironing board, Jug, Tea, only two Towels, shower so small you can't turn around in it if you are larger that 4'1" and a bean poll. And low water pressure that goes from scolding to freezing four to five times during a shower. Ok new room, well at least it is a Suite but you feel like you are in grand central station and that is not due to the subway. More like guests shouting and bashing on doors at 1am including trying to get into our room (Thank goodness for those deadbolts..) We again experienced staff just trying to barge in this time at after 9pm again thank goodness for those deadbolts... I can only guess for the turn down service that they had already done at 6pm as well. New room still has no drawers, jug, iron, ironing board only two towels, tiny shower but a HUGE toilet, batteries remotes for TV's either flat or wrong remotes for TV so they do not work correctly plus only one luggage rack, maybe this is a hint to travel light, but you have not met my wife.! No coffee on first day in this room, rang down, water 30min and went down was told this was sent to wrong room (seems to be a common occurrence..) Coffee machine faulty so ended up with water and coffee everywhere.. Next day had to call down for wine glasses, coffee cups and water glasses as there was none after house keeping and even had to call down for a corkscrew. Think the room only had two tea spoons, are you concerned the guests are going to steal the cutlery due to the airlines only giving you plastic knives and forks..? As for checkout, don't know yet as still here so have a feeling this is going to be a interesting experience all of it's own....
The Hotel Banke is a charming hotel, at a very good rate. The bathroom and shower areas are a nice size. I had a lovely seating area to watch tv, and the bed was nicely made-up. The service at this hotel was exceptional. I loved having my bed turned down with a chocolate on each pillow in the evening. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful with directions and a late check-out. If you enjoy shopping or great food this is a prime location. The Galerie La Fayetteville, with all the designer shops, is just a couple of blocks away. As well, there are many fine restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel, Josefine, is also very good. The gym is very small, but it includes two bikes and some free weights, which allows one to have a reasonable workout. Within walking distance are many main attractions such as the Eiffel Tower.
We stayed for 3 nights. The lobby is beautiful and very calm and quiet. The people working there, from the doormen to the reception desk were fantastic, would highly recommend this hotel. Will come back.
Great location, excellent staff (we found our new favourite concierge there) and very on point service. We would go back anytime to enjoy this beautiful hotel and its facilities, besides visiting the breath-taking city of Paris. Thank you very much for this unique experience! Léa & Martina
This is a ritzy looking place. Great architecture and awesome location to shops food Eiffel Tower 20 min walk notr dam walking distance as is Le louvre. When I say walking distance I mean 20 to 30 min. Easy to do as it's such a beautiful city. We went to all attractions and this hotel was a good base. Inside is glamorous the rooms are small but modern, clean and like all European rooms smallish unless you want to spend 1000 euro a night on useless space. There is a good vibe and staff will help you get anywhere you want to go. Don't worry if you can't speak French as they speak English and a few other languages.
The staff were so helpful and nothing was a problem. The hotel was very presented and rooms very accommodating. Very centrally located close to attractions, a large shopping centre, bars and restaurants One Tip allow time for Breakfast and when you order it can take some time.
Fabulous 4 night stay. Thoughtful touches, incredible staff, every need anticipated. Simply wonderful. Room well appointed and quiet. Hotel very convenient to the Metro, within walking distance of the Louvre, and near a bike-borrow scheme station.
The hotel is a former bank with beautiful architecture and conveniently located near Lafayette Galleria shops with easy access to the metro, taxi and Uber. The staff was incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to assist us with restaurant recommendations, directions, transportation and language translations. Our room was beautiful, comfortable and spacious. We highly recommend Hotel Banke.
