We stayed at Hotel Palacio Borghese while on vacation in Oaxaca for four nights. We had a wonderful stay at the hotel and couldn't have better things to say about the wonderful staff. Everyone there was incredibly kind and helpful, and the service rivaled or exceeded many hotels I have stayed at that cost multiples of the price. The rooms are very comfortable, the aesthetic is consistent with what you see in the pictures. Some might find it over the top, but we found it charming. There are some touches anyone will find pleasant, such as the retractable roof on the courtyard so you can hear birds chirping in the morning. The hotel was very quiet during our stay. The location was excellent. Again, fantastic service and I can't say enough great things about the people working at the hotel! I would absolutely recommend to anyone staying in Oaxaca.

Location perfect for all the sights, staff very helpful, room very clean and breakfast was delicious. A big thanks to Johnathan for making us so welcome and looking after us. There is also a roof top terrace for fabulous views of the surroundings.

It was our first time visiting Oaxaca and we were glad we stayed at Palacio Borghese. The Hotel is centrally located but away from noise. We were greeted by Marko (amazing receptionist) who made our stay extra special. He was always a call away and very fast to react! Our room was located on the top floor with nice sitting area just right outside of our door. The room was spacious, clean with very nice tolatries. The hotel also features roof top that we took advantage of and free parking. Location of the hotel was perfect! It was very close to everything happening in the city. Hotel staff take extra security precautions. The door to the hotel was always locked and it seemed like they knew everyone who was staying there. Every time we approached the hotel, they were ready to greet us and open the door! I would definetly reccomend this hotel to friends and family!

We came here for our 20th wedding anniversary. Our first time to Oaxaca. Everything about this hotel is lovely. They great you in the afternoons with a daily Aqua Fresca -- very refreshing and tasty. Today's was Cucumber! The rooms are big, with high ceilings, A/C and comfortable beds. The morning continental breakfast is perfect -- fresh fruit, homemade preserves fresh squeezed Juego de Naranja o Juego Verde -- delish! Fresh coffee and toast and bread. Highly recommend this place! When we come back we'll be staying here for sure.

Nice rooms with very accommodating staff, friendly and helpful great view from the top, excellent location, great value. Continental breakfast with delicious home made jams Every day will tell you temperature local events and recommendations for great restaurants

We stayed here for a couple of nights during Dia de Muertos, absolutely everything about our stay was fantastic. All the staff members were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, they also went out of the way everyday to assist us with events happening around town. The location and the hotel itself was fantastic. The daily continental breakfast was absolutely delicious and included a choice of fresh juices (I had a fantastic green juice one day). There is a delightful rooftop terrace that you can enjoy the breakfast on, I highly recommend that you do this as Oaxaca is so beautiful to look out at. We stayed in three hotels during our week in Oaxaca (Book early! Six months before was too late for us!), and Hotel Palacio Borghese was by far our favourite

I cannot thank everyone at the hotel enough for their kind, unobtrusive caring! I traveled to Oaxaca alone and my husband met me later on. The staff could not have been more hospitable, and the beautiful serene atmosphere of the hotel contributed to my sense of ease and comfort. Every person, from housekeeping to the guys at the desk, to the chef and Cristina who served breakfast, made me feel well cared for. One day a friend came over, and we chatted in one of the upstairs lounges. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. We left to make a very early flight, and we were given coffee to go by a sleepy but attentive chef. I have traveled all, over the world and can remember few hotels that made me feel so safe. Your hotel is an oasis in the midst of a busy city. I look forward to returning again in the near future. Susan deLone

Palacio Borghese is a gem in Oaxaca. Located on a quiet street away from downtown pollution and in one of the city’s best neighborhoods, the hotel is still only just a short distance from the city’s main attractions, including the famous Church of Santa Domingo and most of the city’s best restaurants and boutiques. The beautiful interior of the hotel features several floors and a working fountain. There are two open terraces atop the hotel providing an exquisite vista of the city. The rooms at the hotel are older but nonetheless well-appointed and spacious. The beds are comfortable and the linens extraordinary. Housekeeping keeps the rooms impeccably clean and provides provisions such as new bottles of water and fresh flowers daily. Our room also featured a jaccuzi to which we availed ourselves. The room had great air conditioning and always smelled great. The hotel provides coffee as early as 7 am to guests and if one rises earlier, will provide a coffee machine, fresh water and coffee. The continental breakfast, served by the beautifully dressed and lovely Christina, featured three choices of juice, including a green smoothie (no extra charge) as well as delicious fresh fruit plate (mango, papaya, grapes and others), endless full bodied coffee, and succulent home baked, Mexican morning buns and other treats. A full breakfast is also available and although we did not partake, it looked as incredible as the tasty continental breakfast. The staff at this hotel is equally amazing. From its charming owner, who is omnipresent to service every need, to the amazing staff of young men who support guests by calling taxis, reserving restaurants, and simply being present to hang out and share Oaxacan life with guests. Every staff member spoke impeccable English and was educated in tourism. Jonathan organized my unforgettable trip to a rustic temezcal, or sweat lodge, outside of the city, arranging my appointment as well as my transportation. He also arranged for our laundry to be done. Other guests seemed to be enjoying this place as much as we did. At the end of our five day stay at this magical hotel, we discovered the upstairs terraces and took breakfast there. Although we were headed to the coast, we didn’t want to leave the beauty of this environment and the wonderful, warm people at Palacio Borghese. At the end of our visit, we were served a complimentary glass of wine on our last night and also given two souvenirs of the regions black pottery as gifts. We didn’t have enough time to explore the colorful, historic neighborhood surrounding the hotel until our return to Oaxaca and were already booked at another hotel. We had wished we could have rebooked there. When we return to Oaxaca, we will return to the charming Palacio Borghese. The comfortable, beautiful space and accommodations, amazing food, convenient, quiet, historic location and impeccable service are worth every reasonably priced penny. Highly recommend this hotel if these are the types of accommodations you are seeking.

I stayed here for three days and was very satisfied with my whole experience . There are three outstanding things about the hotel: the decor/ atmosphere, the staff and the location. First of all I have to say that not all the eight rooms are equal. I moved from an upstairs single after two nights (Amalfi, the rooms have names not numbers) to the Siena room on the ground floor. It costs more but the fourteen foot wood beamed ceilings, fireplace and furnishings make it a much better room and I wished I had booked it for the whole stay. I want to give a shout out to the day manager , Marco and the night manager, Jonathan. Both of them went to great lengths to make my stay a comfortable and happy one. They helped me organize my activities and really went the extra mile to make good suggestions about which tours and experiences to pursue. Their advise was reliable and their troubleshooting top notch. They are both friendly and easy going and obviously take doing their jobs seriously, but they don't have the haughty reserve one sometimes gets from high end hotel staff . If you want buttoned up formality, that is not what they have to offer. If you want actual help , however, these guys do it right. Last, this hotel is located about two minutes from Santo Domingo , yet it is on a relatively quiet street (made more so by the soundproofing they have installed in the lower level rooms which are actually quite than those upstairs!). You can't do better location wise. Having said all this, I admit that the atmosphere is not for everyone. No minimalism here! take a look at the photos and judge for yourself. I loved the place.

The best restaurants and shopping can be found steps away. The staff was extremely helpful. We rented a car and the hotel was easy to find via Google and parking was not an issue at all. The room furnishings are not what you would find in a contemporary, modern hotel, but they are nice and fit with the ambience of the hotel. The room was very clean and silent. One of the quietest hotels we've ever stayed in. Americans can be snobby about whether the staff speaks English. I found that many of the staff members speak English better than most Americans I know. Learn some Spanish. You cannot go wrong with this experience. This is a wonderful way to explore Oaxaca.
