Upon arrival the hotel notified us they had canceled most of our reservations (15 rooms) for no apparent reason or notification from the hotel. The lack of professionalism and skills to solve difficult issues is alarming. Went to the hotel for four consecurive days to speak to the hotel manager, never had the professionalism to respond. In short we had 30 people with no room in a season where there is no availability in Oaxaca. The hotel meets the standards like any other from the city expresse family, however it is really troubling to have to deal with underqualified staff. We were left stranded with no support from the hotel that caused this abysmal mistake.
The City Express Oaxaca branch is located just outside of the historic center but only a 15 minute walk to the zócalo. It can be bit of a hike to the sights south of zócalo but with plenty of places to stop for sightseeing, eating, or drinking in town, we rarely walked the entire way to and from the hotel. It is only 1km from the bus terminal which was convenient for bus travel. Hotel staff didn’t speak great English but they took care of whatever questions we had with professionalism. The room was clean and spacious but had a mild stench we just had to get used to as you can’t open the windows. The breakfast was simple with some beans, eggs, bread, and fruit but it was adequate. He free printing service came in handy when we had to print some boarding passes. Most of the guidebook recommended restaurants aren’t near the hotel, but we found plenty of great places to eat and there are a handful of convenience stores few steps away. Compared to similar Mexican hotels we’ve stayed at, it seems a bit overpriced but we were pretty satisfied with our stay.
Very disappointed. The staff would speak Spanish quickly and I would ask for them to speak slowly "despacio por favor" and some wouldn't. I paid for the 3 nights when I checked in and when I checked out , they tried to charge me for a 4th night. I told them "no". Hours later, they found my credit card number and charged me for a 4th night at a rate higher than I paid for the each of the 3 nights. I reported the erroneously charge to my credit card company and it was reversed. The breakfast was nice. The vending machines in the lobby would accept 10-peso coins but they would not register for the entire time I was there. The hotel is just on the outside of the touristic and wonderful Oaxaca Centro but there is nothing near the hotel. I found a much nicer hotel for half of the price next to the Zocolo. I'm attaching the view out of my window including the long-term abandoned car. The only English TV channel was CNN.
The hotel is 10 minute walk from Santo Domingo, it offers free breakfast, water and coffee. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful, if you need something they try to help you. The gym is very small but it helps to keep fit.
Perfect, simple, clean, kind hotel. The staff and service are phenomenal and it is located within easy walking distance of all the beautiful locations with Oaxaca City. Breakfast is good and the staff were always more than helpful! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Oaxaca.
This is far from a character, boutique hotel. But it has all the basics. Clean. Helpful staff -- don't speak much english but they do their best to understand and assist. Had an issue with a shower head coming loose but they were very quick to fix it. A perfectly adequate breakfast. Parking.
This is a decent hotel, clean rooms, with a small gym. I would classify it as a nice 3 plus star hotel. Location is good, only a 10 minute easy walk to Santo Domingo plaza, and 15 minute walk to the Zocalo. The breakfast was not very appealing, but for $5 US dollars you can have a great breakfast at a restaurant or coffee shop nearby. The room was about $100 a night ( during a day of the dead festivities); I imagine it’s even less expensive now. Definitely recommend this place to stay, decent, clean, modern..... but not super luxurious.
Well designed hotel only a 15 minute walk to the center of town. Pool area was beautiful with a nice deck area.Hotel is still growing, a new bar and wing was being built. Only issue is that several events where being held during my stay including a party with karaoke😩
Quick check in.... they have enough space in the parking lot despite they had a mustang convention during my stay ! Polite service, very clean rooms and brand new gym equipment ! Only one day of 5 we had breakfast in the hotel, too much paper and plastic waste but nothing traditional from Oaxaca.... thank you very much!
this is good business hotel, very clean, excellent staff, good rooms. It's very functional. The only thing I disliked was the use od plastic plates for breakfast. This generates so much waste and for more than 100 a night I expect more.
